Once a Hero, Now Their Curse

Chapter 1 — The King of Fools

Icar was born under a veiled sky, on a forgotten continent, Lysmeria, forged by war and blood. From his earliest memories, a pure and luminous gaze haunted his mind, a fragile link to a world he did not yet understand. Lysmeria was not just a field of ruins: it was a living city, vibrant with chaos and dreams, where the marginalized and the mad found their place.

At the heart of this city, the Coliseum of Chaos beat like a mad heart. There, young fighters clashed in duels where magic and cunning intertwined. Icar, known as the King of Fools, dominated this arena. With his magical cards, he played not just to win: he rewrote reality, manipulating space, time, and the minds of the spectators. His laughter was as disconcerting as it was fascinating.

But behind this jester's mask lay a much darker truth. Icar was not a mere mortal. He had been a demigod, feared and respected, bearer of divine power… before the betrayal. The gods, jealous of his strength and independence, had erased him, banished him, broken him. He had lost his family, his celestial brothers and sisters, and his name.

Yet, Icar had made a promise. A promise made in blood and pain: he would reclaim what had been stolen from him. He would challenge the established order, the gods, and their laws.

That night, as a duel captivated the crowd, a divine explosion shattered the arena. The queen of Hamone herself, a powerful political figure, had come to challenge him. Their confrontation was a game of wits and cards, each revealed card changing the rules of the fight. Icar, master of chaos, played to destabilize the queen, to show her that neither she nor her peers had control.

But the queen of Hamone would not be easily subdued. In her eyes, Icar saw the very embodiment of order and submission. Their duel ended without a clear victor, but the tension escalated.

Later, in the shadows of the city, a pain gnawed at him more than all the battles: the loss of Inari, his sister, killed by the gods to wound him forever. This merciless sacrifice awakened in him a simmering anger, a dark hatred towards those who believed themselves all-powerful.
