Chapter 1:
Innovatia Tech Short: “Coffee? What coffee?”
“H-Hikari? I-I’d like your help with this, c-c-could you please give me a hand?”
“Oi, Hikari! Is Beddy around? I figure she’s probably goofing off somewhere, but I’m beginning to think she’s not even on campus…”
“Hey there Hikari. If you’ve got any free time, though it doesn’t have to be today or tomorrow, please keep in mind that you need to update your Student Education Plan soon.”
An anxious student from another class asking for advice on their upcoming art final. The president of the Disciplinary Committee’s everyday greeting-in-the-form-of-a-question that ultimately results with him giving up at some point in the day. A friendly end-of-semester reminder by one of the college counselors to visit their office before summer break starts. The beginning of another day at Innovatia Tech is off to a lively start and Hikari, a digital-arts student with an extremely low social-battery, has already reached her limit for human interaction; steam spewing out of her head as she trudges toward her independent study classroom; a cup of iced coffee in one hand.
Having felt like she’d been ambushed at every corner, Hikari, feeling completely drained, takes a deep breath while setting her coffee, along with her backpack, down on a nearby table once inside. As she took out her laptop, she noticed the time; the screen read 11:15 AM. Seeing as it wasn’t even lunch-time yet, Hikari let out a long, exaggerated sigh as her exhaustion reached an all-new high.
Little did she know that her day was about to get even worse…
“Hikariiiii~ It looks like the class next door froze over; and I mean frozen solid~ I’m not sure if I should be asking you but— Who normally takes care of that??”
“Heidi,” Hikari began as she massaged her temples, then her eyes to make sure she wasn’t imaging the tall girl with short, messy black hair and eye-covering bangs standing outside the classroom door, “what are you doing here? You can’t just waltz in on campus whenever you feel like it…”
After regaining her eyesight, Hikari faced a harsh truth: she was in fact, not delusional and was saddened by this reality. She blinked a few more times just to be sure, but there Heidi remained; her beaming smug smile in full view. While Heidi was never one to keep a straight face (though some argue that her smile is her natural straight face), her composure was slowly breaking down the longer she looked down at Hikari; especially with how close she now was. A couple minutes of awkward silence pass and finally, Heidi caves. She takes a step back and bursts out in laughter; a signal of defeat towards… herself?
“Awwwww, Hikari you’re so cute!~ That’s what you’re worried about? Look, I’ve got my ways to get in-n-out of places~ Don’t you dare go underestimating my conne—”
“Did you knock out the checkpoint guards again?”
“Yeah, I killed the guards this time”
“Wait, what—”
“KIDDING!!!”
Heidi, having quite literally fallen to the ground due to her laughing so hard, raises a hand over to Hikari, who takes a second to process what she’s seeing before reluctantly helping her up. She found it simply incredible that someone like her can find their own joke so funny.
I need better friends… Hikari thought to herself.
Much to the surprise of no one, Heidi’s own commotion caused a flurry of students who would never normally set foot in this privately reserved classroom to now crowd the entrance; eager to know what was happening.
“Hey, we heard a loud noise, is everything okay in here?”
“Woah, who’s that tall lady next to Hikari?”
“I’ve never seen the inside of this classroom before… cool”
“If there’s a fight goin on, I wanna see! Lemme see!!”
“HOLY— WHAT’S THE PRISM RING’S TOP FIGHTER DOING HERE IN A PLACE LIKE THIS!?”
“!!!” Time froze for the students who were flooding the doorway; waiting with hastened impatience for permission to enter like the vampires of old. However, all Hell broke loose the second Heidi’s cover was blown…
“NO WAY, IT’S THE HEIDI!?”
“I WANNA SEE! “I’M HER BIGGEST FAN!!””
“HEIDI! WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE WEAPON TO FIGHT WITH!?”
“HEIDI! CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH!?”
“Heidi! Step on me!!!”
“Whoopsieee~ I guess that’s the primary reason why I’m not allowed to see you on campus, huh. Oh well, gotta go! Thanks Hikariiii~”

One hour later…
“Hey, heyyy! So sorry I’m la— Woah. What the hell happened here!?”
At around 12:50 PM, a certain white-haired girl arrives at the entrance of a certain privately reserved independent-study classroom, where she’s met with the harrowing aftermath of Heidi’s ill-timed visit. The classroom was in ruins; like a battlefield with debris scattered everywhere. Even the window was broken… that was enough to give Beddy an inkling of an idea over what could’ve possibly transpired here.
“Beddy… so NICE of you to FINALLY show up…” a menacing aura surrounded Hikari as she spoke; unfathomably irritated over the mess she was cleaning up.
“Tell me. Where the HELL have you been…?”
“Oh, I ran into an interesting group of people playing the VR machines. We’ve been gaming all morning, it was awesome!”
“Really? Great. Amazing. Say, do me a favor?” Hikari took a deep breath before continuing. “Hand me my coffee, will ya? It’s over by one of the tables next to my backpack.”
“Huh? Coffee? What coffee?” Beddy tilts her head in confusion. “Sure the room’s trashed, but I don’t see anything that remotely looks like— Uh, are you okay?”
“Heidi… YOU BIIIITCH!!!”
Hikari threw everything in her hands up in the air in a flying rage.
She swore that if Heidi were to ever pay her a visit again, she’s as good as dead… unless her silence was bought with a week’s worth of free coffee.
