Western Region, Mageia City. The number one Magic Academy in the Sky World. Finally the two of them arrived at this place too. There were dozens of people waiting in line, and there were also some students in the courtyard. Mahendra, who was very curious, stepped inside. However, after just three steps, Liliana immediately pulled him back.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm just trying to get in."
"Not now, Young Master."
Unbound by honorable status, the academy accepted anyone and everyone. They accepted talented teenagers around 14-20 years old max.
"Are you coming too?"
"Of course. I'm only 17 years old. I have the right to come because I want to accompany you."
Mahendra was quite surprised by Liliana's actual age. He hadn't expected her to be a year younger than him.
"How long has The Sun been at sea?"
"Maybe seven years. That was when my father was still around. We also traveled around this world just to look for you. I didn't expect to meet you after my father was gone."
"Sorry."
"It's not your fault. After all, with every life comes death, right?" Liliana looked up for a moment, then turning her head to the side, she looked at Mahendra.
"Unless you change it." Liliana continued.
Mahendra was silent for a long time, even deliberately ignoring her because he didn't want to understand what Liliana was saying. She looked more mature than her age and even Liliana looked taller than Mahendra, even if it was because she was wearing high heels.
As the day wore on, Liliana's stomach growled, so she left for a few minutes and came back with three loaves of bread. Liliana offered them to Mahendra.
"Eat this."
"Instead of that, how long do we have to wait?"
"The queue has gotten shorter, there are only a few people left. We've only been waiting for 15 minutes anyway, Young Master."
The body already felt tired, drowsiness obscured his vision, not to mention the long-empty stomach made him unfocused. He sighed for a moment and then accepted the bread and devoured it greedily. The cheese melted in the moss and the soft bread instantly refreshed him.
"This is delicious." Mahendra said with a surprised expression.
"Food tastes good when you're hungry." Liliana smiled, apparently pleased that she could finally see Mahendra's expression.
After waiting for a while, it was finally their turn. The person in charge said that there were 5 registration slots left and then it would end, and the handful of people at the back finally left.
"Your name, age, and place of residence."
"Liliana Rachelle, 17 years old and my residence is in Southsea City."
"The residence is quite close to here. Are you sure you want to apply?"
"No problem. As long as I can accompany Young Master," Liliana said as she looked at Mahendra.
"Okay. And about you?"
"I..."
"Allow me to answer that," Liliana interjected. "His name is Young Master Mahendra, he's 17, and he resides in the same place as I do."
"I'm one year older than you," Mahendra said, feeling exasperated.
"Oh, sorry, I thought we were the same age, haha." Liliana laughed through her embarrassment.
"Same residence but with a strange name? Your name doesn't sound like someone from the Western Region," said the person in charge who felt something was off. He looked suspiciously at Mahendra.
"No, no! Young Master is the adopted son of Lord Kurt in Southsea City. Believe me." Again Liliana interrupted in the middle of their conversation. However, it was for the sake of Mahendra avoiding troublesome matters.
"Alright, I believe."
Their names having been listed in the prospective students of the academy, they were then directed to the academy's courtyard which was as large as a soccer field, the fresh green grass with some plants there looked quite elegant. Not only that, but even the road leading into the building was immaculately polished. For a moment Mahendra could not believe that this academy accepted students from both the upper and lower classes.
"Hey, why did you say my identity so carelessly earlier?" Mahendra asked.
"I myself do not know where you are from. If you wanted to reveal it then you would have said it earlier but you didn't."
"It's true that I didn't say anything about it." Mahendra looked at his piece of language paper again and made sure there were no mistakes in the pronunciation of this world language.
"You've been studying secretly." Liliana peeked a little and Mahendra spontaneously hid it back into his clothes.
"You keep a lot of things in your clothes?"
"No, I don't. Forget about it. Where are we going now?"
"Into the trial room, it's over there." Liliana pointed to the left.
The Trial Room was located in the eastern part of the academy. It was where today's prospective students were gathered and it was double the number of people who had registered earlier. However, what surprised Mahendra the most was that almost everyone failed the test.
A bespectacled female examiner stood at a podium, beside which stood a crystal stone where prospective students would test their powers. Sometimes it would appear light or dark, for whatever reason.
"Young Master is curious about the test? It's quite simple." As if Liliana could guess what Mahendra was thinking, she tried to explain it briefly.
Prospective students are tested on the crystal stone, if it is light-colored then the magic element is sufficiently qualified and passed, while if it is dark-colored then there is the potential to increase the strength of the two magic elements and still passed. All prospective students here had potential, but their magic elements had not yet been detected.
If the crystal stone has no color whatsoever then it is a failure. However, if the crystal stone shook then the level had already reached that of a
High-ranking Magician, only it would be difficult to increase the power because the crystal stone was colorless.
"So, they don't have a set magic element?"
"Yeah, that's true."
"What about someone who already knows their element?" "They're a genius, no need for academy training."
There were only a handful of people who reached that level. However, Liliana at that time said something to the effect that a magician was nothing to someone who already understood the rules of the world. She said it in a whisper as if it was something worth keeping secret. Mahendra stepped aside to avoid her, then stared in surprise as he didn't quite understand the nonsense. It was time for Liliana to test her magic power. The crystal stone showed such a bright color, but not to Mahendra's eyes who saw the bright aura as very small and even very thin.
"Mi's aura is even far superior to her own. She's more talented as a fighter than a magician," Mahendra thought.
With that level of power Liliana reached Level 3 Beginner Magician, an achievement that was greatly admired by the people here.
"Young Master, it is your turn."
Mahendra took slow steps and once in front of the crystal stone, the power it possessed became visible. Whereas before it was not at all. Mahendra reached out and touched the crystal stone while closing his eyes.
"How do I unleash that power? Is it enough just to imagine it?" Mahendra thought to himself.
Not really understanding, Mahendra let out all his strength. Two minutes passed and the crystal showed no response, making everyone underestimate it. However, after more than three minutes the crystal suddenly broke into pieces. Everyone who had been underestimating it fell silent in an instant.
"Ah, sorry." That was all Mahendra said when he realized he had broken the crystal stone.
"LEVEL 10 HIGH-RANKING MAGICIAN?! OH, NO, IS IT MORE THAN THAT?!" exclaimed an examining teacher who seemed to be very surprised by the results of Mahendra's magic power test.
