A Nameless One

A Collection of Kaelarad's Literature

"Greetings traveler, as you can see, I am a Haiyin from the Salt Clan. I have no name for I have lost my right to it, and I am on a quest to redeem it."

A big bulky man, six legged and 4 armed, clad not in armor but hard red shell with tall eyes on stalks holding a tall spear approached on a campfire accompanied by only one man. The moment he turned his head up, he screamed.

"By Lady Spring! What are you!"

"I did not mean to frighten you my good sir, as I said, I am a Haiyin, and this is what my people look like. May I have a seat beside you?"

"Yes, very well. I must apologies as well, my name is Otto. You said you lost your name, what is the meaning of that?"

The nameless looked at his spear.

"From when I first picked up this spear, my forefathers have passed down to me. I had sworn to never cut down a foe before announcing my name. A honor that had been in my clan for generations."

"But one day when I returned from my wander, I found my tribe raided and pillaged, and my home was invaded with my wife lay dead by the entrance. The bastard was still inside rampaging, I had lost my rationality, and I cut him down before a word was uttered and his back turned to me."

"I regret not what I did, for I must avenge my wife, but my vow was broken and I must repent. That is why I was rid of my name and banished my home. And you, good sir Otto? Why is that you sit by your lonesome on this night?"

"I was with my band of travelers but a day ago, but at some point, an arrow was let loose and hit one of use in the back from beyond our sight. We dropped our baggage and ran, but I was the only one who got away. When I went back the next day, all I found was the corpses of my friends and our belongs looted. You see this knife, this is all I have left."

"I see. Seeing the people you know lifeless before their shells rot is never something that should happen to good men."

"Though a bandit, the one who stole from and killed us must be a Disciple of Songs, only such people could shoot an arrow like this. Why would the Poet King grant his blessings to such a man?"

"A warrior who was given the feather of Qing Che?" The nameless one muttered to himself, "Very well then, good Otto, and rest well. Tomorrow we shall head off to search for who murdered your friends. I shall avenge your fallen comrades and regain my honor."

Morning came and they went back to where Otto first notice he was under attack. They hiked by the shrubs near, and an arrow whistled through. The nameless one swiped it away with his spear.

"Good sir Otto, I urge you to hide for now, I will approach this brigand."

He pushed forward, deflecting every arrow that came his way. He finally reached a clearing and laid eyes on the man with the bow. One last arrow was shot and found itself stuck on the nameless' shoulder before the brigand stopped drawing.

"Greetings, I have no name but I have come to avenge the friends of a good sir whom you have killed."

The brigand switched quick to his sword, but before he could swing, the nameless had already trusted his spear through him.

"We meet again, good sir Otto. I am glad to see that you are safe. Rest assure that your companions are avenged, and I have regained my honor. Now, let me introduce myself again."

"I am Qin Shuyi, a Haiyin from the Salt Clan who once lost the right to his name but has now redeemed himself."
