Chapter 2:
My LVL 999 mage sister still can’t cook!
From Sumi Suyako’s perspective~
I don’t know how long I have been sleeping, I feel I have been lazing around for too long. Well, I guess it’s time for some mage business but I need to sneak out quick so Kubato doesn’t see me and convince me to get in bed. I stood up and put on my mage hood and brought my magic staff to my side. I packed some medicine incase I got sick on this journey, I then hopped out the window and immediately I saw a slime nearby. It was a fire slime, this type can be made into nice warm soup if defeated so I started to fight the slime, it was easy and once I killed it, I put the remains in my backpack with the medicines. I kept practicing my aim on small easy creatures, probably at most being LVL10 but then I heard Kubato’s voice. “What the heck do you think you are doing? You are sick, you should have stayed in bed,” Kubato said, he was clearly biting back his anger. “But it’s SO BORING!!! Just staying in bed for who knows how long,” I said. “You could read or something, I don’t know, it is not my job to entertain you!” Kubato said. I sulked all the way home with Kubato. “Well, I have an idea,” Kubato said. “You still don’t know how to cook right? Since you can’t perform your mage duties, how about I teach you how to cook,” Kubato said. “Sure, why not?” I said. “Okay, since you already defeated some creatures, how about we practice cooking them?” Kubato asked. “Sure, we can do that!” I said. Then me and Kubato walked in the kitchen, Sumi remembered a time when she and Kubato were around 6 or 7 years old, they wanted to bake a cake for mom but they almost lit the house on fire, since that, I stayed as far away from cooking as she could. “Ooh, thanks for catching that deer, we can make it into a meat soup,” Kubato said. “A what now? Shouldn’t we practice simple things like sandwiches and stuff first?” I suggested. “Sure, I got some vegetables and cheese that were leftovers from the restaurant yesterday, what if we use those to make a sandwich?” Kubato asked. “Sure,” I said. “Be careful with the-“ Kubato started before I interrupted him with a shriek of “OWWW!!!” Turns out I cut herself with the knife while cutting vegetables. “Oh my gosh, you seriously can screw up the simplest thing!!!” Kubato shouted impatiently. “You are not a very patient mentor,” I observed. “Okay fine, I will teach you, just position the knife like this and keep your hands FAR away from it,” Kubato said, emphasizing the word far. I then tried again and was more successful. “Now, time to toast the bread, if you want you can cut off the crusts, but if you’d prefer to keep them just toast the bread,” Kubato said, I hung on to every word he said, she didn’t want to screw up a simple sandwich. I then toasted the bread and it popped out a few minutes after, while I cut the meat. “You are doing quite good at this, maybe you should help at the restaurant, this is one of the easiest but most popular dishes there,” Kubato said. “uh, I don’t know, once I heal, I will be distracted with mage duties,” I said. “Oh okay,” Kubato said, clearly disappointed. “Oh okay but how are you feeling?” Kubato asked me. “I feel fine, I still have a mild headache but compared to other people who faced that enemy, I feel quite lucky,” I said. “You are really optimistic Sumi, when you are sick, you don’t just sulk in bed,” Kubato complimented. I felt glad he said that, mostly as siblings we just insulted and argued with each other. “Now that the bread is toasted, you can add a slice of cheese, some bok choy and meat on top, then you can season it however you like,” Kubato instructed. “Sure!” I said. I decided on using only salt and pepper since I didn’t handle spice well. “I guess it’s time to eat now,” Kubato said. “Itadakimasu!!!!” We both said before eating and we ate the sandwich happily. “It’s nice but I would prefer some spiciness,” Kubato said. “I don’t like spicy food very much,” I said. “Oh okay, tomorrow, do you want to go shopping for more ingredients? We are kind of running low,” Kubato said. “Okay,” I said. Since it was night, I went upstairs to go to sleep. I saw a stack of books near my bed about mages. I opened one up curiously and saw a drawing of a mage with pretty long red hair, she looked kind and nice. “I know who she is..” I muttered to myself, I then closed the book and fell asleep.

Ingredients:
- Bok choy, salt, cheese (preferably swiss), steak or beef (they use deer meat but that is a bit harder to obtain),
Instructions
1. Chop Bok choy and meat, you can cut the cheese as well into smaller slices so it fits on the bread,
2. Toast the bread, you can cut off the crusts if you prefer that
3. Put ingredients on bread and season with salt (you can also season with chili flakes if you can handle spice)
