Chapter 10:
Seven/Five O' Clock - How To Survive 10 Years in Another World -
“Who are you actually? And where are you from?” She asked.
“I told you I am Hitsuki.”
“…”
“What?”
“Are you serious?” Chiyoshi replied.
“I was always serious though!”
“Look here, you are the exact description we know about the Lunaris Species of Vampires.” She said. “I am telling you to come clean and tell me how you managed to survive the wrath of the sun.”
“I am a human!!” Hitsuki protested.
Chiyoshi sighed. “This isn’t going anywhere, is it?”
“If you ask me a thousand times, I will answer the same,” Hitsuki said, a bit annoyed. “You guys tortured me over this!”
“If you truly were a human, then why don’t you speak our language? Why didn’t you tell us where you came from?”
Hitsuki was taken aback by the question.
“I… really don’t know. I mean I know, but this book… it doesn’t seem to translate where I come from…” he replied.
“What an interesting book you have.” Chiyoshi crossed her hands. “Where did you find it?”
“In the forest. It just… came to me. Before it suddenly turned night-”
“And you survived with no scratches under the night as well?”
“Isn’t that normal?” Hitsuki asked, looking at his book.
“Never has been normal. And probably the reason why you are alive, Mr. Vampire.”
“Please stop. You are giving me trauma by uttering that word.”
“Half-vampire?”
Hitsuki looked at her in disbelief. “Aren’t you the acting Queen? Is someone on that rank supposed to tease a young adult like this?”
“I am sorry, but human ethics are not my specialties.” She laughed. “But I like your personality, though.”
Hitsuki’s heart skipped a beat. Never in his life did anyone compliment his personality.
“And what about that peculiar thing?” She said, looking at the watch that was in his pocket.
“To be honest, I really don’t know about this either.” He replied. “This is the thing that @#%$^&! %$ @$#@.”
[T/L: …got me here.]
It seemed like any mention of teleportation was blocked by the book.
“Let me guess, your translator is not working?” She asked.
“Yep…”
“You know how suspicious you are to us?”
“Yes.” He sighed. “A random man who looks like a vampire got caught amid a kidnapping of a princess and somehow he can survive the sunlight and moonlight blah blah blah…”
She laughed. “Seems like you are not like any other people. I really do like your sense of humor.”
“I appreciate it.” He replied. “But what is it so special about being able to stand under the sun and moon?”
“None of us can do that, you know?” She replied. “None in our world. The solaris can’t survive the moonlight, and the lunaris can’t survive the sunlight.”
“Thats weird. I thought it was normal for everyone.”
“Thats why you are suspicious.” She sighed. “Gosh, you really don’t know anything, do you?”
“Then would you please explain how I cannot be?”
“No.”
Her words echoed in the oval-shaped room. It was glittering with bronze, and two maids stood by the door.
“Why does literally everyone I encounter in this world a girl?” He asked. “And what do you mean by no??”
She laughed. “It would take me a year to explain everything to you.”
“Then what do you expect me to do??” He asked sarcastically. “I need to do x. Oh, I can’t do x. I need to do y first. Oh, I can’t do y. I need to do x first! Haha, that sounds very fun, right?”
“I have a lot of things to do, kid.”
“Kid? I am a grown adult in my early 20s!” He protested.
She looked in shock. “You are kidding, right?”
He took a deep breath, prideful.
“I am fifty. How are you in your twenties? We basically look the same age?” She replied. “I think I am losing my thinking capacity just by talking to you…”
“Same here. With the information you have given me and the trauma your world injected, I have already lost my thinking capacity. I'm surprised you guys even have some.”
She sighed. “You are interesting. But too much for me to handle.”
“Then what should I do now?”
“Sol, take care of him. I am going hunting.” She said, indicating to a maid. “I need to steam off.”
“Wait—” he got up to stop her.
Her swift movements were hard to catch. All Hitsuki could see were her trails—and they led up to him.
This was when he knew he was in trouble. For none of her movements, her eyes, her body, or her expression showed the usual hospitality it did some moments ago.
“Listen here, you piece of crap. I don’t care if you are a Lunaris lunatic Vampire or not.” She replied in a deep voice. “Your task is to find out the assassin’s trying to eliminate my family. I am telling you to sell your comrades if you are one. And if you are not, find them. There are no exceptions. If you can’t, then I will personally end your life in the most miserable way you have never imagined. My twin sister Masayoshi is a soft-hearted person, after all.”
Cold sweat ran down his face. His legs shook listening to her voice. His heart stopped for a moment. The whole room went silent, and the only thing that made sound was her sword clanking on her hips.
It’s as if the sword itself was threatening him.
“I am the Acting Queen of the Solaris Kingdom of Lizrab, the Species of Humans.” She declared. “And you are nothing but a mole—or maybe not. But it’s only after you have proved it yourself. I have given you a chance to live. Don’t waste it.”
It was then she disappeared from his eyesight. The window of the room clanked open, and he fell on his knees.
“Please, stand up. Someone is waiting for you.” The maid came up to him, acting as if she saw nothing.
