Chapter 8:
The Office Worker Who Got Isekai’d to Slay Heroes
Ash slowly stumbled by all the frozen statues that were his soldiers and also Diana’s soldiers just a few days ago. They were now frozen, unable to do anything. They had been battling on this front, but now both sides were frozen.
Ash was wondering if Diana or anyone knew what was happening and how everyone got frozen.
In the next moment, he saw snow starting to fall and felt a strong magical aura. He was starting to feel cold, so he began emitting strong black flames from his body and conjured a dark katana covered in blue flames.
“Come out!” Ash yelled.
The tornado of snow began to whirl a few meters in front of Ash, and then from it, the Great White Lion appeared.
The lion growled so loudly that the whole world felt the ground shake.
Ash stumbled a little and thought that he must release all of his dark aura to stay alive. It was pretty dark, so he was at full power.
He gathered all of his aura, was engulfed in dark flames, and leaped with his sword at the lion.
The lion saw this little creature rushing toward him and roared again, dispersing ice spikes at Ash.
Ash was slowed down by the spikes but still kept dashing.
The lion’s leg was the size of Ash’s entire body.
Our dark king slid and, with insane speed, swung dark katana at the lion’s leg.
The lion punched him with its paw, and Ash went flying.
The leader of dark forces kept dashing in and out, the lion kept roaring and casting ice spells.
Ash didn’t cast any offensive spells because he was using all his aura just to resist freezing and survive the lion’s strong attacks.
The lion wasn’t getting tired or showing any signs of weakness.
The big decision was made to remove some of the defensive flames and try to launch an even stronger attack at the lion’s head.
He surged into the air and attacked with his flaming katana toward the head of the mythical creature.
A roar stronger than anything slashed through the air, so powerful it caused earthquakes across the entire world.
Ash was airborne, slowly flying through this wave of energy and magic released by the beast. He managed to slash the lion’s eye slightly and left a mark.
The beast twirled, and a tornado flung Ash into the distance.
The lion now had a little scar on the side of its eye.
Ash was starting to feel tired and lost. He didn’t know how to deal with this massive challenge.
He couldn’t just forward it to someone else like an email nobody wants to deal with.
He couldn’t just pass the fight to someone else like blaming someone for a mistake at work.
This was a serious challenge for him, and he was at the limit of his aura and stamina.
Ash decided to try a new spell. He had been researching it, and he thought:
It’s all or nothing, I need to try it.
He placed his hand on the ground and incanted briefly:
“Dark fish of the darkness, lend me your power.”
A portal opened from the ground, the strong summoning spell Ash attempted had worked.
A dark, flying fish with many fins appeared.
The once office worker and now the great hero slayer, alongside this fish, charged at the lion again, now with almost no protection spells.
His body began freezing. His hair withered away, leaving his head bare and cold.
His face was pale like hand cream, slowly starting to resemble glass.
“This has to be it! Almost there! I got this!”
He gripped his katana tightly and yelled to the fish: “NOW!”
The fish unleashed powerful dark beams of energy at the lion.
The lion began casting defensive spells, and golden shields appeared in the air to block the beams.
But Ash shattered through the defense and slashed one of the beast’s legs.
The lion roared even louder, the ground and air were shaking.
The impact of this was so big that far to the north, Diana felt it in her castle the whole place was shaking and she almost fell from her throne.
“What in the hell is going on?” she wondered.
Further away in now so called Pink kingdom The golden monkey, Mark, awakened from his drunken slumber. He exited the barrel he usually slept in after drinking too much.
“I guess I need to go to that Rose girl and tell her not to ally with the Dark King…” he mumbled.
“What a drag. I’m too lazy for that. Should I just go drink?
Yeah… I should just go drink. There’s no way to change the future anyway. He’s probably too strong now…”
Back at the front in the now blizzard storm The Great White Lion was fighting with all his might, but the summoned dark fish and Ash were on another level. This battle made Ash a force to be reckoned with.
He unleashed strikes at the lion, who fought back with spells, fangs, and paws, but even the mythical lion was being overwhelmed for a second.
Ash lunged into the air and made a huge swing, attempting to cut the lion’s head.
He failed!!
The lion slapped him with its tail.
Even overwhelmed, the lion didn’t give up.
It stopped roaring and, with its tail, launched an ice spike that pierced Ash’s left leg.
Ash was now stuck, his leg was done.
The dark fish’s beams were all blocked by the lion’s golden shield spells.
For a moment, Ash thought he had him or was close to having something. He thought that he would cut off his head.
But now, he was lying on a blanket of snow, his leg useless, his aura nearly drained, and his summoned beast’s attack blocked.
This feels like that one time I almost got fired for writing novel at work.
This is bad really bad. I’m going to die in a world that’s not even mine. Maybe this will return me back to my old world, and I can turn on my gaming console and start some cool game…
Maybe I should just surrender.
With Ash on the ground, pondering in milliseconds about the end, the situation on many fronts also looked dire for the Dark King’s army,
Diana had sent ten Heroes of Light to the fronts, and lead by the mighty hero Alexander they had great progress.
Ash was nearly defeated, and his army was almost defeated as well.
From things looking great… everything had fallen into the gutter in a split second.
The Great Golden Monkey, Mark, was at his favorite bar… on his fifth beer.
"This is a great beer."
"Thank you, sir."
"No problem, pal."
"Drinking again, my monkey man?"
"Yes, sir. Always prepared."
"Prepared for what?"
"I'm always prepared to be the next hero with my drunken feet technique."
"The what now?"
"Yeah, yeah, you heard me right my drunken feet technique. I kick people really good when I'm drunk, my man."
"Good to know, monkey. But what about that hero stuff?"
"The dark times are coming, my friend. Pour me another beer, please."
Then he saw a vision of Ash.
He couldn’t believe it.
What is happening? Were my nightmare visions wrong?
