When I got to Lisa's house I was out of breath, I jogged most of the way over because of the urgency of what was at stake here.
Ran up the steps and pounded on the door."Lisa! Lisa! Lisa!"
Within a few seconds I heard the door unlock and it swong open, lisa held the door open with a worried expression. "Jack? What's wrong?"
I went in and let out a huff, I bent over trying to catch my breath with my hands on my knees.
I was covered in sweat.
"Jack your soaked, tell me what's going on?"
"Sorry, it's just huff ... I... Huff... I need to sit."
Lisa gave a nod. "Go over to the living room, I'll get you a drink."
I nodded back and made my way over to the living room, passing the hall of art her family collected over the years, and sat down on the fancy leather couch and tried to collect myself.
Lisa went passed me and entered the kitchen, I heard the sound of a glass being filled with water and she walked over to me quickly.
"Thanks." I sed as I grabbed the glass and gulped it down.
"Geez... Darling you must have ran all the way here huh?"
"Yeah... " I took another breath and prepared for what I was about to spill out of my mouth.
"Lisa, listen vary carefully to what I'm about to say. This is a matter of life and death."
Understanding that I was deadly serious, she sat up with her posture straightened, her face became more focused and intense.
"Ok... So, for the past few weeks ever sense I got the seal, I've been able to do certain things... You know that, Right?"
"Mhm"
"Well... Um... There's one thing I haven't told you about, I um... I've been having... Dreams... Vision's... "
"Vision's?"
"Yeah, I've been seeing glimpses into the future... Like that goblin lord, I saw it in a dream."
"You did?"
"And I also saw.... A girl. A little girl with blonde hair in a cage... Well, look at this."
I pulled out the missing person's report."I found this earlier on my way home... It's the same girl from my dream."
She took it and looked at it for a moment, then looked back up at me. "I see..."
"She was kidnapped Sunday."Lisa just stared at me.
I crossed my arms."That's not all, I fell asleep when I got home and I had another dream... She was in it... Lisa, she was being sacrificed."
"What?"
"Yeah... And something tells me it's gonna be tonight, I don't know when... But I know where."
i continued.
"In my dream I saw that it was here in old town, and I saw the street and everything...She was in a sewer underneath the old clocktower."
She studied my face for a moment...Then her eye's shifted away from me for a moment, I could see she was hiding something...
Then suddenly, it all came to me. I heard a still small voice whisper to me why she was averting her gaze from me, why her face looked guilty.
"You already know there's sorcerer's down there don't you?"
"Huh? I-"
"The man who made your father disappear is there."
She froze. "The man who killed me too."
God revealed to me what was going on in that moment, Lisa had found a way to track the man in black, and somehow he was connected to the wizard who her father was sent to capture.
"How did you-" she stopped herself mid-sentance. "God told you huh?"
"yeah."
She stood up and took a few steps back. "Yes, the man who my father was sent to capture is here in old town, and me and Billy have been tracking him for the past few months. Billy gave me stricked orders to not go after him alone... But, I'll tell you the truth.I can't just stand by and let the one person who knows what happened to my father be on the loose, I wanna know what he did to him. And maybe... I'm hoping he's still alive."
Her eyes were filled with vulnerability.
I know that she must miss him with all her heart, she sed it before.
Her vulnerability became replaced with a look of resolve and determination. "Jack, I'm... I'm going after him tonight. Alone." She Crossed her arms.
"What!"I stood up and stepped closer to her.
"Lisa! You can't!"
She shook her head."You don't understand, I need to go alone."
"Why?! Are you crazy?!"
Suddenly she yelled out."YOU DONT GET IT!"
I became silent."IM LISA ELWOOD, MY FATHER IS THOMAS ELWOOD! HE FACED BIGGER THREATS THEN THIS ALONE! AND SO CAN I!"
she continued."I... I have to do this, not just for him. But for me, I have a reputation to uphold. Don't you get it jack? The first time I came I met Nikolai's henchmen he nearly killed me, and he got you because I was weak... "A look of shame came opon her face.
"And then that goblin lord knocked me out so easily, we all would have died if it wasn't for you but... Jack-" her eyes met mine, I could see the frustration in her eyes building up as she spoke, her fists clenched together at her side's.
"I can't keep letting down my father and ancestors by allowing others to help me!"She exclaimed.
"Not only that but I can't let you get into danger again, you may have gotten lucky and killed that green monster, but what if that was a fluke huh? What if you get hurt so bad that your seal can't heal you in time and you die!"
I saw tears welling up in her eyes."I can't lose you."
"Lisa... I can't lose you either, no. I've known you my whole life, if anything happened to you..."
I stepped closer to her and cupped her cheek with my right hand. "I don't know what I'd do."
She gave me a sad look.
"I'm sorry." She held my hand against her cheek.
"We can do this together, you don't have to do this alone either, you have other hunter friends right? You can call them to give us back up... Lisa..."
Her ocean blue eye's stared into mine."I know you have a lot of pressure being the heir to the elwood family line. And I know you have a lot of it coming from both yourself and your family themselves... "I continued.
"And you've let that pressure create an ideal version of yourself that you wanna be, it's good to have an ideal to strive for... I'm someone who has an ideal I wanna live up to as well... But... I can see it's no good for you. Your letting it consume you... Lisa... At the end of the day, your just a girl."
I had come to realize that now.
I had always put Lisa on a pedestal, I had an image in my head of her being the perfect girl. But I can see now, she's just that.
A beautiful, cocky, smart, prideful, broken, cute, loving, kind, brutality honest, but pure hearted girl who had her family's expectations placed opon her at an early age.
But in the end, she's just a girl.
"Your right." She smiled a bit.
"But... " Her smile quickly faded.
"I still can't let you go." Suddenly her arm glowd bright blue and she slammed me into the wall. "!"
She pulled out of what seamed to be out of nowhere long golden chains and shot them out at me, wrapping me up in them, I came falling to the ground completely immobilized. "Lisa!"
"Sorry jack, I didn't mean to be so rough with you. But I had to get these chains on you, there made from pure arc-metel and can easily be shaped in any form. There anti-magic too, I keep a few pairs with me just in case I come in contact with a magic user."
She went over to the coat rack and put on a leather jacket, she walked back over me and crouched down and lovingly ran her fingers through my hair, the look in her eyes sed it all.
She wasn't sure if she'd be coming back."Lisa... Please, let me help you."
"No."She spoke barely above a wisper."These chains will be active for the next ten hours... Then they'll release you once the time limit is done if I'm not here to undo them myself..."
She leaned down and held me close for a minute, still stroking my hair. "I have to go now."
"No."
She kissed my cheek and got up."No!"
She walked out of the living room and down the hall of art. "LISA!" The door opened and slammed, leaving me alone in the mansion now completely quiet without Lisa's presence.
