Chapter 3:

Elnyra's Gift

Fist of the Bancho Rider

"After so long, you're finally here." A voice echoed gently.

Startled, I couldn't help but look around. "Who said that?" Reiji asked loudly.

"I did." A hazy image, partially see through shimmered into existence.

She was of great beauty almost ethereal. She had a well-shaped body, with long curly blue hair that matches with her elegant and simple blue dress. Her deep blue eyes filled with gentleness and deep indescribable emotions focused on Reiji as if piercing through him, seeing all of his darkest secrets.

"My name is Elnyra, the Star Watcher. I am the goddess who watches over this world.” Staring at Reiji, Elnyra gently spoke.

“It was I who summoned you here. I needed the help of someone capable of protecting this world as it marches towards its end. You are the hero I have been waiting for.”

“Why?” Struggling to answer the goddess, Reiji could only blurt out a single word.

“Why what?” Elnyra asked puzzledly.

“Why did you choose me?”

“… Because you have the qualities of a hero. I sensed great potential in you…” Looking at Reiji with a beautiful smile.

“You are someone who has experience fighting. In fact, you enjoy fighting with all of your heart. You have great love for your friends, and an unbending will. You are willing to bleed and cry for your friends, for your beliefs. What more could a Hero need?”

The goddess floating in the air beside me flipped her hand, creating an image of the world for me.

"The seal of the Ancient Eldar Dragon of Ruin, Vermundr is being undone. When he awakens, this world will befall it’s end unless you stop it.”

"Then why don't you stop them? Surely, the goddess of this world should be powerful enough to get rid of a dragon.”

“That’s because I can’t. A goddess is not allowed to interfere with the world directly. As a last resort, I am able to summon a hero from another world. Someone who can bring about hope and change the path that this world is headed on.”

Pleading Reiji, the goddess continued.

"For the sake of the innocent and weak, please accept my request. Once this is over, I promise to send you back home."

“… How the hell do you expect me to defeat a dragon?” Annoyance flared up in Reiji’s eye.

“I’ve been here for three days, and it’s taken everything for me to make it through my fights with the local monsters. You’ve clearly summoned the wrong person…” A sudden thought flashed through Reiji’s head.

“Hey! If you summoned me, why didn’t you bring me here directly? Why did you drop me in the forest randomly?”

Elnyra quickly avoided Reiji’s gaze.

“Um… The summoning spell is old and complicated. I couldn’t exactly summon you directly here. I only knew that you would appear in the nearby vicinity… Her voice trailed off into a whisper.

Seeing Elnyra’s apologetic state, Reiji could only sigh to himself loudly, as he massaged his temple.

“So… how do you expect me to stop a dragon anyways?”

Hearing my reply, Elnyra floated closer, placing her hand on my chest.

"Don't worry. Apart from the summoning, I have three more blessings for you."

A ball of warm energy formed inside Reiji, starting from the heart it slowly spread throughout his body, passing through bloodstream, dissipating through muscle tissues, and eventually into every individual cells.

"My first blessing, is the ability of growth. This will allow you to use status menus to display your stats, and allow you to gain experience points to level up. Each level will increase your strength and abilities. Now you can learn skills and use magic like you hoped to.”

“Before when you first arrived, you hadn't been blessed yet, so no matter how much you tried you wouldn't have been able to release and spells or skills."

Elnyra laughed mischievously. Clearly knowing how Reiji spent the past few days trying to shoot fireballs out of his hand, by shouting different keywords and striking different poses.

"You were watching?! What kind of pervert are you?" Reiji shouted in embarrassment.

"Fufufu, you're quite cute when you're embarrassed."

Feeling like he’s just lost his honor, Reiji could only bear this grudge mentally.

As if sensing his thoughts, she quickly moved on. With a swipe, a semitransparent window appeared in front of him.

"Ahem. In this world, your level represents your capabilities. You gain exp from defeating enemies and completing quest. Your stats will increase, through your battles and from training. Once you have enough experience points, you can then choose to level up a class of your choosing. Your class determines what kind of skills and abilities you can learn as well as the speed of your stat growth."

"Even at level 1 your stats are already much higher than normal beings on this world. Your noteworthy traits have also been converted to skills for you in this world."

Furiously nodding with Approval, Elnyra continued.

"My second blessing, will be this."

Snapping her fingers, my tattered clothes were replaced with a brand new gakuran. The jacket even lengthened down almost touching my knees. A bright red flame decorated the bottom hems, the cuffs of the collar, and sleeves. The back of the gakuran now sported a bright burning phoenix emblem.

"From now on it will be able to mend itself no matter how badly damaged it gets. I've also added magic and physical resistant properties as well. This gakuran will be your new battle armor."

Smiling to herself proudly, she floated around me slowly admiring her work with satisfaction. Nodding to herself as she mumbled about how her design was truly fitting of me.

“Ugh. These are so outdated and lame. How could a goddess have such a lame fashion sense.” Reiji groaned with sheer frustration. “Just give me back my old clothes with the blessings.”

"How dare you accuse me of having no taste?" Pouting. She flicked her hands and changed my clothes back to my usual outfit.

"So, what’s the last blessing?"

Still huffing and puffing, Elnyra quickly regained her composure before floating higher, looking down on me.

"Hmph. I've been saving the best for last. My final blessing this. Something that even you will appreciate."

Rubbing her palms together, she began gathering light particles between it. As the ball of light expanded, she began cackling madly, raising it up above her head like a certain character in a Dragon theme manga. She then threw the huge ball of light between them.

With a loud poof, something unexpected appeared.

It was pearl white, with blood red trims. The bodyline was exquisitely done. It had two bright eyes in front, with a small see-through cover on top. The back had a wide flat leather seat that could comfortably seat two people on it. The back featured twin long metal pipes that roars with the power. The whole thing sat on two wheels giving it the grit and character of a true rebel.

That's right, what was in front of Reiji was his beloved partner and favorite means of transport. A CBR900RR, the ultimate retro bike!

Unable to hide his excitement, Reiji lovingly touches his partner, checking the details on her.

"Fufufu, that's right. My last blessing is a copy of your beloved bike. I've materialized it out of my power. I've made it so that the tank will automatically refill itself over time. What's more, I've made it so that it is indestructible, and even has an inventory box for you to store things in."

Smirking at Reiji, it seems she really had been saving the best for last.
