Chapter 1:
Hero or Tyrant
It was a day as any other, all felt the same to a 10-year-old boy. Even a prince of the royal family. Which the prince spent time in the courtyard trying to play the latest games with the servants.
The weird thing that was happening was the loud bustle and rumbling hooves of horses. The knights and soldiers definitely felt more active on this unremarkable day.
The sky is a bit dark with rain clouds overhead, which the prince disregards as he has grown use to the crackle of thunder and flash of lightning. The rain beings to pour, and the brown-haired boy spots his father coming out to the courtyard.
The boy is worried about having to stop his games and go inside. Because the rain might ruin his nice tunic or something. He runs up to his father the emperor to try and dissuade such an idea.
It was hard to tell what the difference of the sound of horses trotting or the thunder booming. In the courtyard there is a magnificent statue of a Golden Lion. It now is getting splashed with the rain drops.
The prince arrives to hear the Guard Captain pleading with his father. The captain said, "I beg of you your majesty. Take leave of this castle, while there is still time."
The Emperor Gerard replied "Where do I go? Nearly all the lords are blocked or abandoned us for the traitor!"
"No Refuge remains for the crown. That bastard seeks my death. I will not flee from fate but meet it on the field of battle."
"Though you still can, A sole rider, with my boy Elias at your side. You can take him and get through the blockade. Get the boy to Jeod, I will entrust my friend to raise the seedling into a sturdy tree that will take on all the dangers in Elias' future."
"Jeod is a ranger and already is protecting the amulet as well. He knows when the boy is grown to make use of the great power within the amulet."
Elias stops running after hearing the words. He calls out "Father?"
"Are you leaving? Are we in danger?"
The emperor walks over to his son and kneels down to give a hug. "I have one last order for you. Go with the captain and get to safety. Wait or find Ranger Jeod, You are to treat his command as if I was giving it. Do you understand?"
Elias replied, "Of course, but why? What is wrong?"
Emperor Gerard ended the embrace, stood up. and walked away without answering. Before departing, the emperor said, "Alcide, my pride and faith relies with you and Jeod. I only hope that it is enough."
"Farewell, and may the heavens guide you."
And with that, the emperor departed with haste. Leaving the Knight Captain disheveled. The prince walked up to the captain. Said, "Why are you just standing there? Are you not going to help my father?"
The captain knew the mission he was just ordered to excute. He raised he head and said "If I were able, my prince. Come. We have another job to do. We've not a minute to spare."
The scene changes with Emperor Gerard joining his trusted soldiers and an officer pointed in the direction of the band of soldiers. In that direction is the enemy soldiers with the Banner of the Wolf. At the command of the little band of soldiers was a Ranger.
The command rang out from the Ranger. "Bar all exits of the Walled City. The Emperor is not to leave these walls alive."
The men of the usurpers movved into positions for the incoming battle.
Emperor Gerard shouted aloud for all to hear. "Our Great Hero, reduced to little more than a base traitor. How silly! You'll find my head not so easy to remove from my shoulders, Dessel. I wonder if you can say the same."
An officer shouted a command to the Emperors soldiers, "Come, everyone. We march this day for His Majesty Gerard!"
The rain did not let up, but it was no longer notice. As men weilding iron and steel moved to clash inside the Wall City.
The fighting was fierce and savage, as the commanders of both armies moved among the city to get closer. The loyal soldiers of the Aether Empire did have seasoned heroic fighters wielding many different styles of combat. All top of their warrior class.
At last as they struck down every enemy in the path, Till they arrived to the band led by Dessel. The emperor was the first one to arrive in his heavy armor stylish but of high quality. We accomplished warrior himself.
Dessel commanded with authority, "Seize him." As he wave his hand with the signal to advance. Emperor slashed his great sword with both hands. Slaying two enemies at the same time. His troops already arrived to engage the enemy.
Emperor Gerard leaped over the dead bodies and clashed body to body with the Lycan Ranger. As they bounced off each other and took battle stances. Gerard said, "Enlighten me, Dessel. To what end do you seek to usurp my throne?"
Dessel was wielding a heavy two-sided ax. He replied, "Self-centered fool. It is not merely your throne I aspire towards. It is more that that. My goal is to go beyond the notion of simple nations. I, the blade of to restore our world to its natural order."
Emperor Gerard was angered at these words, "You seek to plunge the continent into chaos? The High Coucil will not let your delusions bring such suffering."
Dessel jeered, "The council will fail at unity, with pointless bickering and politics that will never please the insufferable neighbors. Now, I shall achieve so much more through conquest, and reclaim that which is rightfully mine."
Gerard shouted at battle cry, "I would sooner see you slain by my hand."
The Aether soldiers attacked in full force at the Ranger Dessel and the enemies. As the battle continued.
The setting showed the lone horseman riding with a small child strapped to his back. As they escaped into the night. Alcide vowed, "I promise you, the royal iineage shall endure. Tis but a great shame that I could not aid you further."
The Knight captain found shelter in a barracks. As he said to the prince. "Wait here, There are loyal soldiers guarding the outpost. I will ride all night and day to bring allies. The Rangers that are righteous and just."
The Knight-Captain rode out at night with extreme haste.
Then we are shown the throne room, with Dessel standing at the former emperor's chair. He was extremely pleased Lycan as he knew his men would find what he needed.
It is the year 970 of the Mara Era. Claiming to be scion of Terra Mother. The High Coucil's most decorated Ranger Dessel rebelled against The High Council with the sacking of the Aether Empire, Wellingtonia
Its Emperor, Gerard, bold in the face of this staggering betrayal, stood unshrinking as the shield of his son Elias' safe flight and mustering what meager forces remained by his side. He rallied a defense as valorous as it was damned.
With the lost of the Emperor, care of the young prince fell to his trusted faithful ally. Ranger Jeod. Who took wing beyond Dessel's traitorous grasp to asylum in the obscure town of Arcadia, in the Holy Kingdom of the Hellenic.
To spite the High Council, Dessel boastfully proclaimed himself the new emperor. Then began a relentless onslaught the continent's nations could only but struggle against. As Dessel was known as the Great Hero and was convincing to gain allies against the High Council.
Yet each nation endeavors fell in vain time and again. Ere long, Dessel's vile dominion was realized. His faithfulness to the Terra Mother seemed unmatched, as his blood soaked unification came to bear. Few dared stand against the ironclad fist of Emperor Dessel.
