Chapter 16:

SURVIVAL 14: TRANSLATE part 2

TRIUMPHANT GAME

I was blocked by a wall that separated me from the two. Fourth cries as Aeith prevents her from chasing me because she might get stuck. Sixth, Third and Seventh are with each other. I did not recognize where the others went or who they were with. The path became narrow due to the movement of the walls.

I got startled when someone suddenly poked my back.

"Thank goodness. Glad you’re safe," he whispered to me. It was only his voice that I knew who he was.

I turned to him and saw his worried face. "First? You're here!"

I thought I was all alone.

"Let's go. Let's find a way to be with others and get the treasure.”

First started. "Let's still try so we can do the last thing we talked about. Follow the directions given to us first on the map.”

"Okay," I agreed.

We turn to the right because we are just following the pattern: left, right, right, left, right. The left turn we did earlier when we were still with the team is done, now it is right.

"Again?" First uttered. He is confused.

The walls are moving again!

After about ten seconds, it also stopped.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

I nodded, then called him. "First”

"Hm?”

"Let's do it again. Now, we’ll turn right.”

L, R, R, L, R or left, right, right, left, right

And my suspicion was correct, the walls moved again. It's the third time.

"I know what you're thinking, but I hope you informed me. Your actions are surprising. You're way too reckless.”

"I'm sorry. I didn’t mean to." That was all I could say.

"I am sorry too. Let’s forget about it. What's your plan?" He beamed at me.

"Okay. The plan is...” I paused for a moment. There’s no guarantee for this one. “To disregard all the directions given by the map then-”

"Second? Second where are you?!" Wait, that's Fourth's voice.

"Fourth! It's Second! Right here! Where are you?" I shouted for her to hear me.

“We’re here!” First shouted.

"Oh my! You're fine and safe. Aeith and I are okay. We're just looking for a way to escape. Who's with you? Are you with First?”

As Fourth speaks, I look in which direction that voice is coming from. I put my ear close to the wall when I felt the slightest vibration. They are on the other side.

"'Don't worry First is with me. I have an idea of how we'll be together again. When my idea works, if I ever get separated from you, I'll tell others close to me and let you all know the plan, okay?"

"O-Okay. As long as you say so. Good luck to you, Second.”

“Grab ‘em, Second!” Aeith cheered me on.

After a short conversation, First and I ran. We turned right, instead of left.

Our plan was to disregard—but not fully the map directions. We reverse the directions given.

L, R, R, L, R will be R, L, L, R, L

Right = Left, Left = Right

Not one of the walls moved. First and I ran and turned right, nothing happened. In our second experiment on how to stop the walls from moving, as we ran into the third turn, I shouted.

"Guys! Are you there, hey?" This is for whoever is close by.

First started shouting, too.

"Guys, it's us! Where are you?" I shouted to whoever they were.

"It wasn’t my conscience, dumbass. It's Second!”

"Hey, Second, is that really you? Don't scare us!”

It’s Fifth and Seventh!

"Yes, it’s me. Turn right, left, left, right, left. That's our turn pattern. As you run, you shout and call the rest of the team members and inform them about the technique. Run, fast!”

"Roger!”

First and I finished the turn, and we were stranded in a fairly wide terrain where there was no longer a maze and its walls. In front, there is a large wooden door. Fourth and Aeith ran towards us.

After a few minutes, we are now complete.

"But how did you find out?" Fifth pondered.

"What we did earlier to follow the directions given on the map, the walls moved as if they were contradicting the wrong direction we took. In our first experiment with moving walls, the left-wing and right-wing parts of the maze were exchanged. If the left walls change to the right walls and vice versa, we may need to reverse the directions, left = right and right = left. That's why the walls move if the path we chose is wrong. It’s as if they are heading in our direction. The walls are the ones who adjust and stop us from turning in the wrong directions.”

Third touched the rusty door handle. The dusty door had writing on it that was probably written by a finger.

WHAT'S THE PASSWORD?

This is what’s written on it.

"Dracodile! That's the password!" Seventh declared.

Third wrote it on the dusty door with his right index finger.

DRACODILE

After a few seconds, it opened automatically. We all entered, and then the door closed again. There are three cubicles made of bricks and blocks. The cubicles divide the four directions we can go.

"There's a jar at the center," Fifth pointed to something.

It's a big, dark brown jar. The one that looks old-fashioned or traditional from ancient times. It is as high as a person's foot to knee, about 1 foot.

"Let's open it!” Seventh urged that it made Third take hold of the lid of the jar to open it.

Third lifted the lid. He inserted his left hand. He was holding another silver card, like the 5 cards with riddles we found earlier.

Choose the right path between the four. The three of them cast a grave danger.

Clue: The five great riddles

Good luck

Everything came to mind. When I look up, there are labels of the four paths we can take divided by cubicles.

Path 1 - The brow

Path 2 - The throw

Path 3 - The row

Path 4 - The owe

"What are those? They say the path must be right or we will be in danger." Fourth reminds us of the 6th card’s warning to us.

It has to do with the riddles we answered so it will just be easier compared to answering the riddles for the first time.

"Path 2," First said. We might be thinking the same.

"How can you tell?" they chorused.

"Let's hurry or the gold team might overtake us.”

We just kept running until there were another four paths. I breathed a sigh of relief because we were safe and not perished because the three paths had an associated ‘grave danger’. If nothing bad has happened, path 2 is the correct answer.

"What next?" Aeith asked everyone.

"The clue has to do with the riddles we answered earlier. The words in card no. 1 are 'death throe', of the four choices, the closest being the same when pronounced is path 2 being 'the throw'.” I explained because First does not have the time and patience to.

"Oh”

I read the labels in the second stage.

Path 1 - A treasure buried in a secured container

Path 2 - A treasure buried under the ground

Path 3 - A treasure buried in a chemical substance

Path 4 - A treasure buried in a haystack

"It’s the last one!" Third stated.

We entered path 4 while running and we were in the third stage.

Path 4 because apart from the 'hay' mentioned in card no. 2. As for carbon and oxygen, a diamond can withstand both when exposed.

Path 1 - 2 colors

Path 2 – 3 colors

Path 3 – 4 colors

Path 4 – colorless

"The 1st" – Ninth

Path 1 because it is said to be dichromatic, that is, consisting of two colors.

We ran into path 1 and we were already in stage 4.

Path 1 - round

Path 2 - rhombus

Path 3 - diamond

Path 4 – triangle

"3" – Sixth

Path 3 is also mentioned in card no. 4 the diamond.

Path 1 - poisonous

Path 2 - touchable

Path 3 - deadly

Path 4 - sensitive

"I think 2 is the closest answer!" – Aeith

Path 2 because card no. 4 states, not deadly when you touch 'it' which is the treasure, so the closest answer is path 2. We ran into path 2. I noticed that this path is probably longer than the other path and we seemed to be turning. The path is not straight. It seems to curve to the left.

All the answers in the riddles are regarding the treasure we are looking for.

After a long run, there was a big door again. We went near it and wrote something with our fingers because it was also dusty.

WHAT'S THE PASSCODE?

There’s another stuff written on the door. A code is now required. I thought it was over, there was just another door blocking us from the treasure we were looking for and looking forward to.

But is there no question related to the card no. 5?

We looked at each other for a moment because we didn't know what the passcode is.

"24132" First spoke. "Those were the numbers where we entered the paths.”

Those are the path numbers we took earlier.

Third immediately wrote the passcode with his right index finger on the dusty door. A few seconds later, it opened, and we entered. The door closed again.

In front of us was a small platform with five steps up. In the middle of a wooden platform, there is a wooden box. We opened it, and inside it was full of a haystack. We would have just closed it again when our eyes saw something shining. Third picked up the glowing object and lifted it, a necklace.

Necklace with an almond-shaped pendant, mixed colors of silver and gold.

I now understand why there is no question related to riddle 5: 'Enough Lose', First’s answer is correct. Why ‘enough lose’ if we win? First said, you just reverse the first letters of 'enough' and 'lose', making it letters L and E. Now you reverse the meaning of 'enough lose' = 'abundant win'
