Chapter 8:
A School Christmas Story
“Jonah!” Noah stumbled as he rushed over to his dead brother’s body, tears in his eyes.
Jonah had a bloody red gaping hole on the right side of his chest, piercing through his heart. His blue plaid shirt was covered with blood and water as he laid crumpled against the wall while completely motionless. His face was slightly pale, like a ghost. This indicates that he had not been dead for long. A reddish puddle was around him. It was filled with his dark red blood, but washed out. It was like the blood had been mixed with some melted water.
“What happened?” James looked back to the crowd that was his classmates as Fergy marched out from the ground, being the first one out of the stunned group.
“I’m not sure,” said John Paul, looking slightly surprised, but calm overall, while butting into the question that Fergy sent to Mr. Cartwrong.
Mr. Cartwrong looked around, trying to take back control of the class. “Ok, everyone, let’s go to my classroom. We’ll have the staff take care of this,” he said, looking, visibly shaken.
John Paul sighed, then went to the front of the group, marching the class to the classroom.
They got in the classroom, spreading out in groups. Looking absolutely terrified. Fear hung around the room, bringing the arua down to a terrifying degree.
After they all got in the classroom, John Paul went to the back of the room and tried to slowly slip out of the room without anyone noticing. As soon as he got to the door, Fergy blocked the exit.
“Cartwrong said everyone, you know. Just because you think you're all that, doesn't mean that you get to ignore the rules.”
John Paul looked up at Fergy with a face of extreme annoyance. “I don’t have time for this. Just move”
“I will not. It’s not all about you. We have a whole class here of scared people, and you obviously know more than all of us about this. If you just leave and do whatever, do you think that's going to help the morale around here? ”
“Fine. I can see that I'm not going to change your mind” John Paul backed away, moving towards the center as a room at a really slow pace. Then he suddenly turned, slamming his shoulder into Fergy, knocking him over into the classroom, as he ran into the hall and spread around the corner.
“What the frick?” James stared at Fergy’s knocked-over body and got up. He ran to the hall. “It's going to be up to me, isn't it.” James thought as he walked out into the hallway to stop John Paul’s actions.
James got to the door, went into the hallway, and stopped.
John Paul was nowhere to be found in the long hallway as if he had disappeared into thin air.
“Where the heck did he go?” James wondered. The first solution was that he had just turned a corner, but the hallways were too long. Going to one of the empty rooms in the hallway was also out. They were all either locked or had a class in them. It was like magic. There was no solution for his disappearance. “Well, whatever,” James said as he quickly gave up
James went back to the room and went over to Emma’s group after catching her eye.
“I don't think we have a choice. I think we have to do it soon.”, he heard Lee say in a low voice. The group that went to Dommy’s room was crowded around each other in one of the corners of the room. They were talking in low secretive voices, trying to keep themselves as invisible as possible.
James sat down and joined the circle as Emma reasoned.
“We don’t really have a choice, do we? I think that we can leave in three days. There will be a path open then that will allow up to go with no problem as long as they don't ramp up the security because of Jonah”.
James butted into their conversation, completely confused about what they were talking about, “do what? What are you all talking about?”. He said in a low voice.
“What do you think we're talking about?” said Emma. We're going to go to the illusions, of course. We don’t really have a choice, now do we, with Jonah’s death.”
“Whoa, hold up. I know Jonah’s murder is terrible, but what does that have to do with going out there? You know exactly what happened to Dommy. Also, did you remember we're in the freaking NORTH POLE!”.
Emma glared at him, annoyed. “Yeah, I know exactly where we are, but if we don't, then more people will probably die. Also, who do you think killed Jonah?”
“How am I supposed to know that?”.
“Are you an idiot? Think about it. He died near the dorms, near Dommy’s room. Also, he was also killed with an icicle, and who do we know that would go outside to get an icicle?”
James interjected, “how do you know he was killed with an icicle?”
“Think about it. Jonah had a gaping hole in him, that was circular in nature with no murder weapon insight. Also, did you notice that his blood was not perfectly red like it was extremely diluted with something? That was the water from the icicle, which melted in the artificial heat of the school. Anyway, Dommy said he would “start” something when we went to his room. This must be exactly what he meant.” Emma replied, looking extremely angry at James’s lack of common sense.
“But it’s-”
“Well go in three days”, Emma said. She stood up and angrily left the room, looking back at the group before she turned the corner.
“Wait, we’re not supposed to…”, James signed, realizing it was hopeless to try to stop her. In the short time that James had known Emma, he had figured out that when she had made up her mind on something, she did not change her mind.
Lee came and grabbed his shoulder. “It’s not you; she is just worried about Dom Dom.”
“Bro, I think we ought to go to Dommy’s room. We don’t know if he will continue. Plus if he is not in his room, it adds a lot of evidence that he murdered Jonah ” Xerkisze PhD said
“No way, we're going to die if we go to his room” James signed as he realized that he had no way to talk his way out of the situation he has in “You know what, sure, let’s go! I really dont have another choice here.”
Their group went out of the room, ignoring the looks of their classmates. Fergy looked like he was going to stop them, but decided not to.
They walked through the grey, empty hall, their footsteps echoing.
“Why do we never see anyone in the hallways? There are other students here.” James asked Lee.
“I’m not sure. I remember asking John Paul the same question, and he said something about how it was too much effort to write all of them in, and writing empty hallways was easier, whatever that means.”
James shrugged his shoulders, having given up on understanding some of the stuff John Paul said the day he met him.
Finally, they reached Dommy’s room. Jimmy knocked on the door, and the door creaked open from the force of his hand, having already been unlocked.
The room was completely empty, having zero signs of life. The bedsheets were crumpled, but cooled like they had not been used for a day for so
“I think this confirms that Dommy did it,” said Lee.
