Chapter 25:

Chapter 24: Thalorian

The Edge of Balance

Thalorian sat down on the cold ground of the deserted forest the group had found as a sort of temporary base. So this child is my son. I really am quite the dunce for not figuring out that the one name Yoru was my son, Yoru.

“Thalorian! Do you have the spell ready?” asked Limiria.

“Yes,” said Thalorian. Here I go, “Scororn oirarara shunown arery shukman tan!” Thalorian sensed Yoru’s location perfectly, every tree, every rock, and every single noise. “He’s on his way to some place called St.Albert. Heven welyeh sha koon.” When Thalorian attempted to transport them to Yoru his spell fizzled out. What the?

Thalorian leafed through the pages of The Eternal Balance, which now without Jiyoda’s soul could no longer speak, eventually finding what he was searching for. “Here it is, apparently after using that spell I cannot teleport to the person I am searching for until I have maintained contact with them for a minute,” said Thalorian.

“That’s quite the down side to your spell,” said Limiria.

“I agree, how are we going to get to someone that’s over three hundred horizons away without teleportation," said Haverian. Thalorian remembered what Yoru had told him, Cars! Planes! Trains! Boats! That type of thing!

“We can walk there. It should only take about two or three days,” said Thalorian.

“Brilliant idea,” said Limiria, dripping with sarcasm. “I never would have thought it up myself.”

“Come on, let's go,” said Thalorian, grabbing his bag, and beginning to walk to Yoru’s location. Only two days until you’ll see your son! Let’s do this, Thalorian.

Thalorian’s boots trudged along the ground, a single drop of water hit his nose and slimed its way to the ground. That wasn’t water. The trio looked up to see a man with a neck twisted one hundred and eight degrees, a long lanky body with tattered clothes, there was no hair on its head, small spikes protruded from the side of its head, and long thin bones poked out of its back.

“Yummy! Yummy! Food!” it said smiling. A Blood Sport Demon! Thalorian drew his blade and parried its bite. Limiria ran it and hit its neck with the hilt of her sword. Haverian whipped out his book and began writing all that was happening.

“Can’t you fight Haverian?” asked Thalorian, countering another blow from the demon.

“Sadly not! As a poet I cannot duel with others, it is my curse, but I can give you advantages by altering your story,” replied Haverian. “As Thalorian dodged another attack a stone pillar rose from the ground smacking the Blood Sport Demon in the jaw!” wrote Haverian.

Thalorian darted forward and sliced through the Blood Sport Demon’s arm. “Lagra!” chanted Thalorian, firing a bolt of pure mana from his palm. When the bolt connecting with the demon it’s skin sizzled, while Limiria appeared behind it a pierced through it’s heart with her sword.

“That demon was a lot stronger than it should have been, normally a few slashes and they’re dead,” said Haverian.

“Amazing guess! That demon was enhanced with two percent of my mana,” said a young figure falling from the tree. Two percent and it was that strong! How much mana does this man have!

“Who are you?” asked Limiria, grabbing the hilt of her sword.

“You mean you don’t recognize me? How sad,” said the young boy. “I am called Garret, Garret Smith.”

“Garret Smith? The one we killed back in Gorn,” said Thalorian, confused.

“Oh, yeah when I died this man calling himself Jiyoda Jiyoda Alltvaldt or something or other said he would bring me back in fifteen thousand years to wreak havoc among the streets of earth and destroy all who disbelieve in magic, and also get your revenge on the people who killed you, so you guys,” stated Garret, “oh and aint this body a peach, let’s me do whatever!”

Jiyoda? The one who told me to kill the Crown! “Garret, you look awfully young,” said Limiria.

“Oh yeah this body is something around thirteen years old,” replied Garret. “Anyway back to the point time for you guys to die, Gonthoruna Finshani Furoto Cansthini Forek Lara Shan Porey,” said Garret. Runes appeared on the ground and twenty demons appeared from the ground. Short chubby ones that were bat-like, mangled ones that resembled humans, except for the grotesque form, and of course blood sport demons. “How do you like my amazing technique, Carnival of Demons!”

Thalorian dashed at several demons and sheared through them, and as soon as they fell to the ground, they stood back up and placed their torso’s back on their legs, and continued fighting. What?!

“Oh yeah forgot to mention, all of these fellers are immortal!” laughed Garret, skipping along the tree line.

“Haverian! Can you trap these guys in a tree box, or summon a god?!” asked Thalorian, fighting off a bat-like demon.

“No! I have two uses a day and I used the second use to make sure no one found the several demons in the woods!” said Haverian, jumping over a demon. Even if these demons are immortal, if I can kill Garret they’ll die as well!

“Kragara!” said Thalorian, firing up. “Terris Elia,” a large stone ripped from the ground, supporting Thalorian, he dashed off the stone, casting it several more times to make his way to Garret. Thalorian swiped at Garret with his blade, who blocked with a dagger. Garret used his free hand to unsheath his second dagger and plunge it into Thalorian’s chest. Blood pooled from the wound as Thalorian headbutted Garret, which was followed by biting Garret’s skull. Garret stumbled back, taking the chance Thalorian pulled the dagger from his chest and tossed it aside, and then swept Garret’s legs. Garret flipped above Thalorian and threw an assortment of daggers at him. Thalorian stumbled back, before dashing forward and cutting through Garret, but as he did so Garret summoned a demon, with a mangled body and grey skin, in front of him blocking the damage. This demon can’t be as strong as the others. He summoned it so quickly it has to be weaker. Thalorian slid under the demon’s legs and cut through it, like sushi.

“Well this is fun, but I have some business elsewhere so I’m just going to wrap this up quick, ok?” said Garret, appearing behind Thalorian.

“Tra,” said Thalorian, turning invisible, before hitting the deck.

“Fancy pants magic eh? Invisibility is nice stuff, but I can counter by scrying, you know,” stated Garret. Thalorian quietly moved behind Garret, and kicked his spine, Garret tumbled forward, and spun around only to be met with Thalorian’s fist. Thalorian continued his assault of attacks until Garret was a mess on the floor. Thalorian raised his sword into the air and brought it down, or at least he tried to. He couldn’t, as if bound by magic he couldn’t kill Garret. Thalorian released his blade and attempted to snap Garret’s neck, same result. “You… you’re bound by him to,” whispered Garret before disappearing in a puff of smoke. His demons disappeared but Thalorian could feel that Garret was not dead.

Thalorian hopped down from the tree, “What was that?” asked Limiria.

“Jiyoda is back. And he is not the friend we thought he was,” said Thalorian.

“How? Jiyoda is imprisoned in the Nightmare,” said Haverian.

“Bigteeth was able to escape from the Nightmare, Jiyoda could have to,” said Thalorian.

“If Jiyoda is able to reincarnate people stronger than they ever could be then we have to prepare for the end of the world and that starts with finding Yoru,” said Limiria.
