Chapter 11:

Entrance Ceremony

Flowers Bloomed by a Poisonous Rose

The Royal Imperial Military Academy - a vast, city-like campus that served not only as the primary setting for the MoH games but also the otome-game spin off, Love of Divines.

With over 4000 students between the ages of 16 and 25, 300 staff and teachers, and a full-time company of Royal Guards defending it, the academy offered classes for those who wanted to enlist and those who wanted to get the best qualifications in the kingdom.

Reiss, of course, had entered the high school portion of the academy just like the games. He made sure to get the timings just right so he could meet the main characters at the exact same time and places.

Coming off at the bus stop, Reiss paused and admired the flower arrangements made outside the main gates. Then, right on cue, the main heroine showed up and accidentally bumped into him.

Rather than fall over together like in the game, Reiss carefully caught her and asked, “Are you okay?”

The heroine, Angela, became embarrassed; first because she hadn’t been paying attention and hit someone, and second because she was being held by a young man.

Yes! Nailed the first impression!

For Reiss, who had quite liked Angela in the games, seeing her in real life took his breath away. Shiny blonde hair, pink eyes, a modest bust and spectacular fashion sense - Angela fell into the beautiful rich girl archetype and had some tsundere tendencies, all of which Reiss, or rather Aoi, had loved back on Earth.

“S-sorry,” she said, flustered, collecting herself and separating herself from Reiss. “I was just admiring the flowers and-”

“It’s okay, I was too.” Reiss laughed. “I’m just glad you didn’t get hurt.”

“T-thanks. I’m Angela - nice to meet you.”

“I’m Reiss. Do you want to go to the entrance ceremony together?”

“Sure.”

Good. I’ve made a much better impression on her than the Reiss in the game did. In the game, they both fell over, he accidentally saw her panties, she got mad, and it took 2 weeks for her to get over it. In order to get to my dream end, I need not only for all the girls to get along, but to also love each other as much as they do me - Reiss.

Don’t worry; I’ll make you all happy, I swear.

“The event was different,” Arc muttered.

I feared that there could be someone like me, but I hoped it wasn’t the main character. Well, as long as the main story doesn’t deviate too much, it should be fine.

“I wonder if they were Japanese, too.”

***

“Should I be happy or sad that there’s another one?” John Moriarty, in disguise as an old man, muttered.

***

“Do they think they’re hiding?” Lucien mused, stifling a laugh as he watched Arc and John watching Reiss.

The auditorium was filled with hundreds of new students, so much so that Reiss could barely hear himself think.

“Thank God we found some seats,” Angela said.

“I told you I would. I’m hurt you didn’t believe me.”

“I said sorry. Still, thank you, Reiss. I was nervous I wouldn’t make any friends, so I’m really glad I met you.”

Oh? Reiss observed her pink cheeks and fought back his emerging grin. She’s so cute! I love you! Wait, is it possible I’ve already managed to raise a flag? Just need to not lose it now.

Three seats to his left, Reiss could see Oscar, one of the protagonist’s best friends and, on Reiss’s immediate right, was Kara R. Dwight, a very strong swordswoman and Haruki’s 2nd favourite character.

Unfortunately, I can’t just suddenly walk up and talk to her about anything. Reiss winced. Well, I can only wait for the right opportunity.

“Welcome, new students of our esteemed Imperial Royal Military Academy.” Headmaster Kroan’s deep voice boomed without a microphone throughout the auditorium.

In the game, the ceremony’s a 5-minute cutscene but it lasts for 90 minutes in reality. Well, at least I’m next to Angela.

Reiss got so into his own thoughts that he hadn’t noticed how fast time had passed.

“Finally, I would like to ask our highest scoring candidate to step forward and give the freshman’s declaration.”

Finally, time to see Mr Perfect, Rikard.

“Alice Eagold.”

“What?!”

Reiss’s sudden outburst was drowned out by thunderous applause.

“Alice Eagold…” Reiss’s face went pale as he observed the young woman walking onto stage, dignified and elegant.

Impossible! Is she a reincarnator too?! She has to be! Otherwise, there’s no way she could still be alive!

“Hey, who’s that teacher by the Head Nurse?” Arc asked a nearby student.

“Oh, that’s Miss Emilia. She’s another nurse and one of the magic instructors.”

Who the hell is that?

Arc had played each game to completion, some multiple times, but not once did he ever hear of a teacher by that name.

Maybe she was an unnamed NPC or maybe she’s a consequence of someone else messing with the original scenario?

“What’s going to happen from here?”

***

“Yena.”

“Yes, Lady Charlotte?”

“That girl’s really cute.”

“She is.”

“...I want her.”

“Please, not another one.”

“Why not? I bet she’d be happy to be the Saint’s friend.”

“Thank God we’re in a private VIP booth. Also, my lady, I have a feeling you want her as more than a friend.”

“Huh?! I don’t swing that way though?!”

Yena sighed. “I want to retire.”

“I’ll triple your pay.”

“I’ll make Lady Alice yours.”

Satisfied, Charlotte smugly looked on as Alice read the student declaration aloud.

“I’m really excited for the future.”

***

“So, they’re all here now?” Samantha asked.

“Yes.” Rose scratched the vampire’s chin as her head rested in Rose’s lap. “It’s taken many years to reach this point, but everything’s in the right place.”

“Yay! Onee-sama.”

“What?”

Samantha slid up Rose’s body, sitting on her lap and wrapping her hands around her neck. “Can I have a reward for being so patient?”

Rose giggled and kissed Samantha. “Such a spoiled kitten.”

Meow.”

***

“Don’t go in there for a while, Risa.”

Risa, confused, tilted her head at Lucien’s warning, but didn’t say anything.
