The Beloved Saintess

The sunlight coming through the window in my room, woke me up from my deep sleep. The bed here is really comfortable. It's very different from the bed at my house, which is very thin and quite hard.

I'm still in my room right now. Previously, the palace servants showed me to my room and told me to come to the throne room again with the other four heroes.

It's time to stop sleeping. I took a shower to clean myself. I didn't need to worry about my clothes because I saw some clothes in the wardrobe in my room. I guess those clothes were prepared for me. 

I put on the clothes they'd left for me. To be honest, the design felt a bit strange to me. The clothes were blue navy, and white with black stripes. I've seen clothes like this online a lot. It's like the clothes in fantasy stories, almost all of which are made of leather.

Suddenly, I've heard the servants knocking on the door. It seems like it's time to go back to the throne room to meet the king.

"Excuse me, hero. It's time to meet in the throne room. The four heroes are waiting for you outside the room."

I quickly left the room and found the four of them waiting outside. Yamada was as excited as always, Naoki looked more nervous than the first time. Meanwhile, Sato and Keichi were just silent as if thinking about something.

They all wore similar clothes to me, the only difference was the color. Yamada's was red, Naoki's was green, Sato's was purple, and Keichi's was brown.

Everything's set, so we're heading to the throne room. When we got there, we saw the king sitting on his throne. There was a guy standing next to him.

"Good morning, heroes. I appreciate all of you who have accepted my request."

A man standing next to the king smiled warmly at the five of us. He looked strong. I think he has spent a lot of time working out to get such a great body.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Allion, it's an honor to be able to help you all, heroes."

The king seemed to be counting on Allion to teach us, which was a good thing because there was still a lot I didn't know about this world.

In short, Allion is willing to help us grow stronger. He immediately invited us to gather in the palace soldiers' training field. I think he wanted to show us something.

After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the palace soldiers' training ground. Allion grabbed a wooden sword from the rack.

His eyes seemed to be looking here and there, and I had no idea why. After a while, Allion looked at the five of us with a serious look.

"Hey, have you guys been shown how to check your status screen?"

Huh? What? Status screen? What does that even mean? But Yamada seemed to get it.

"So, you're talking about a floating screen that displays our stats, right?"

"I get it. It's like the character status in a game." Sato followed the conversation.

After Sato said that, I started to understand a little bit, so we can do that? that's great because then I can see what my weaknesses are, right?

"Everyone has their own special fictional weapons, right? If you look closely, you'll see a little gemstone on each of your weapons. Go try to press it."

After taking a closer look, I saw that there was actually a small gem attached to my phone. When I touched it, a status screen popped up in front of me.

I can touch my status screen and swipe it, and I can make it as big or as small as I want, as long as I can see it. It looks like there's a skill that's still locked, since there are level stats, maybe it'll be unlocked after leveling up.

There's some other info like my strength, intelligence stats and a bunch of other stuff, but I'm choosing to ignore it for now because it's too much.

When I touched the gem again, the status screen in front of me disappeared. To be honest, if this happened in my world, I would definitely think that I had gone crazy.

At that moment, Allion let out a sigh and trying to tell us something.

"Listen to me, the situation in this world is beyond what they can possibly tell you all. You all must—"

Before Allion could finish explaining what he wanted to say, a women came up from a distance and looked at him.

"Hm? Instructor Allion? It looks like you're going to be teaching the heroes now."

The woman who approached Allion was the nun I saw yesterday! what was she doing here? Even though Allion seemed to be smiling at her, I could faintly see that Allion was bothered by her presence.

Then suddenly, the woman came up to Yamada with a warm smile. Yamada was a bit stunned by how beautiful she was. I've got to admit, that woman was gorgeous.

"How about you all just come with me? I'll help you all level up!"

I saw Allion's expression change for a second when he heard the woman invite us. Did something happen between them? Allion looked concerned.

"Ahahaha... no need to help me out, saintess. I can train them myself, they just need to understand the theory first."

So the woman was a saintess, not a nun? Hm... it makes sense now, considering she was strolling around the palace grounds like she owned the place. She's clearly a big deal in this world.

"Is that possible? that would be a huge help to us!" Naoki answered, looking relieved at the invitation.

I was a little surprised when Naoki suddenly opened his mouth, but he was right. It would be really helpful if we could get some help leveling up, although I felt something strange when I saw Allion's facial expression.

The woman smiled at Allion, Allion just kept quiet and couldn't say anything more.

"That's good! Then follow me, and the church soldiers will help you all!"

The five of us started walking, leaving Allion behind. After a few steps, though, he slipped something into my pocket and covered it up by talking to us.

"Be careful! You all have to kill monsters to level up, and they're quite dangerous."

Monsters? Ah, right. It's like playing a game. Leveling up your character by killing monsters is pretty common. But I can't compare it to playing a video game; this is reality! One small mistake, and I'll end up dead! I have to be careful.

I don't know what Allion gave me, but I also went with the other four heroes, following the saintess. We left the palace through the front gate, and the soldiers from the church that the saintess called were also ready to leave.

At last, I got to see what this world looked like. The air was fresh and the sky was really clear. A place like this was very rare in my home world, where there's always vehicle smoke and tall towering buildings everywhere.

I've finally made it to the city center, This city is very peacefuly, and it looks like something out of medieval times. But even though the buildings in the city look like something out of medieval times, each building here has a different color and is very contrasting! I can see some graffiti and murals on the streets.

And here's the thing: they've got way more advanced technology than i'd expect. Like, they've even got cell phones?! but they're not as high-tech as the ones I'm used to. 

"W-what the hell is..."

There is one more thing that bothers me the most, why is everyone obsessed with round shapes?! It's not just hats and food; even clothes are round! They looks like a canned drink mascot but in a round form now!

I wasn't the only one who was confused, the other four heroes felt the same. The saintess chuckled at our confusion.

"Haha, it's normal to be confused, today's the end of the year, and this is just a unique tradition in this city. We eat and wear all kinds of round things."

Wow, that's a pretty strange and unique tradition! I mean, it doesn't seem like someone with a phobia of circles or round objects would be able to live here...

It seems like a lot of people like the saintess. Every minute we walk, there are people who greet the saintess. This kind of friendliness is only obtained by people who are really trusted.

After we left the city, we arrived at a dense forest. As we went deeper into it, we saw a strange creature that was actually pretty scary.

The creature had a big body like a bear, but its face was almost like a human's, and I saw some writing floating above its head.

I get it, that's the monster information like in the game. But wait, I guess I just saw it wrong, right?! Not level 1, but straight to level 50?! 

"Everyone, get ready! that creature... is not alone!"

As the saintess had warned, a bunch of similar monsters popped up from every direction. Gosh, my second day in the another world was already so dangerous! I hope what I experience in this world doesn't get worse...
