Chapter 15:
Hoffen: Life in Another World Without End
After the events that unfolded in the dungeon, Luciel received a letter from his mother, from a spirit bird conjured by her.
The letter then reads…
From Mom:
Hey there, my dear Luciel. Happy Birthday!
I hope you’re doing well… and that Lilith is still keeping you in one piece.
If you’re wondering how things are going here — we’re doing just fine.
Oh, and some news for you — though I’m not sure if you’ll see it as good or bad…
You’re going to have a younger brother.
I know, right? It surprised me too.
Anyway, I hope you bring Lilith with you once you come back home, she’s probably craving my porkchops, right?
I want to say more, but I only have a single piece of paper with me right now…
I’ll write more next time, with your dad this time.
Stay well, my son.

“I wish that were that case, mom…”
His voice broke with every word he muttered, cracking like thin glass. Tears spilled onto the page, blurring the ink, staining the silence.
At first, he thought it was just the tears. But the cold bite of moisture against his shoulder said otherwise.
Pit-pat, pit-pat…
“Today’s a bad day for rain.”
He forced a chuckle, weak and hollow.
