Chapter 66:

Showdown with Valerr

When I bought That Suspect Baroque Closet and Lamp, I Didn't Expect to Be a Mundane Wizard for the Demon Prince of Another World

"I see they woke you." Alric stood before Genie, applying auric pressure to pin his son, so intense, the boy's body struggled to move off the floor.

He turned his attention to Kairo.

Genie gurgled and spat out water, panting for breath as he felt the pressure move from him to his lover. His father didn't even move his legs, using mind power to be at a destination. But while he wasn't the focus of attention, his magic could recover.

Kairo struggled against the magic binds around him, and stared into Alric's eyes.

"Insolence!"

A blast of white aura energy was released, throwing Kairo back. An intense pressure slammed him to the ground to keep him pinned.

Valerr smirked with her hands on her hips, relishing the pitiful sight of the demon-specter and his rubbish lover. She was dressed in her battle gear: no longer hiding behind glamorous silk gowns and veils.

"Sire, we have them, shouldn't we make preparations." She hissed with impatience.

Alric's green eyes magically glowed: his mind-power tossed her to the wall. She staggered to her feet, keeping to her silence.

"All in good time." He returned his attention to Kairo. "Thank you alien. I don't know who interfered with my summoning, but their intervention proved useful. Genie wouldn't have come into his Star Crystal power if not for you."

Kairo gasped, feeling his body ache and the pressure restricting his magic. It reminded him of his first meeting with Lyon and the wizard restriction. This overwhelming intense pressure was impacting his connection to his spiritual sea.

"Who, what are you, boy? Earthuns don't have magic, yet you wield cosmic power like it's sparking a flame?"

Kairo yelped, feeling the Demon King's words being scratched into his brain. His grimoire swelled with power to negate the mind attack, soothing his pain and impacts.

Alric stepped back, glaring at the Holy Ama Cross. "No matter." He turned his attention to Lady Bluesteed and Henka-guard: they were knocked unconscious by his mind power.

"Lady Bluesteed!" Kairo growled as he grabbed Zeus and scrambled to make a move, but Valerr counted his blows with her daggers.

"Keep attacking, I can slice that ugly head off faster."

"Like Leela's? She said something similar and was bested by tea!" He huffed as he taunted Valerr, stirring her bellowing rage.

Alric sighed and decided to let the woman vent. They had time and he owed her that much.

The area was made clear for Kairo and Valerr's fight.

Valerr rushed in with her daggers whirling midair. They stirred magic and charged flames to strike Kairo's skin.

Kairo focused as he ran his hand along Zeus's shaft to lace his power to it. He swung the sparking scythe in a semi-arc to counter her blades.

"Phoenix Blade: strike!" Valerr bellowed as her glowing red daggers trembled and sang with an intense energy.

The daggers moved to her will at the speed of sound, rapidly making attacks for Kairo to counter. Some struck his arm.

Kairo stepped back to cast a power blast with Zeus.

"Timebound: drops." His eyes glowed silver as he gathered elemental particles to Zeus.

The unlocked spell, when Genie was taken from him, was only fitting to use to end her. Zeus swelled with dark energy, pulsating with a pending power-slash attack.

Alric frowned as he felt the floor vibrate. He'd underestimated the boy's growth.

Valerr cursed and regathered her daggers. She cast a barrier over herself, realizing the powerful magic about to be wielded.

"Weak woman."

Kairo words flowed into her ears along with his manipulated elemental particles. They created a pressure that jabbed at her temples.

Magic flowed through his blood, which rushed through his veins, pumping up the strength of his muscles with an unnatural power.

"You're nothing but alien fodder!" She raised her arms to manipulate her dagger's motion in an attack for Kairo.

"You may think you're cunning, deceptive and powerful. But all that cowardly plotting in the shadows only made you a laughingstock. Even now, the Palace of Princes gains power, and you're here with your tail between your legs. And no one here is willing to save you."

Alric's eyes narrowed at Kairo's dominance over the woman.

Kairo did a side-step: he raised Zeus high and did a semi-arc swing in two motions, casting a cross-blade attack for the woman. Instead of the cross-blade's power being white, it gradually turned to black as particles gathered to it.

Her daggers rushed to counterattack with flames and was snuffed by Kairo's attack. The black particle magic ate the weapons until they were absorbed. This pestilence-type magic rushed into Valerr's ears. She screamed as the elemental magic began eating into her brain.

Kairo stepped forward and raised Zeus to make another strike.

"Kairo, strike that witch near the platform to activate the extraction process. I think we can use it to channel magic for a Star Jump," Genie said through a re-established mind-link.

He shifted positions and released a cross-blade attack to push the woman near the platform.

Valerr cast a fireball and multilayered fire spell in desperation, stirring a consistent drone from the platform. Her spell transitioned into a powerful phoenix strike for Kairo's face.

His magic absorbed the strike. Her body was knocked back onto the platform with Zeus's blast attack.

She writhed as she felt her magic drained, and Kairo's pestilence-like energy evoking the second stage of the Timebound: drop spell. It nullified her inbuilt magic protections. In doing so, inadvertently negated the thaumaturgy spell properties, which Genie had been forced to cast on her to retain everlasting youth.

Valerr screamed when she saw liver spots on her hands and her skin aging rapidly, to the point her body was too frail to stand. She regressed to a corpse figure.

"Alien scum." She cackled as her body disintegrated into dust. The cost of the spell had been tied to her lifeforce.

"You reap what you sow."
