Chapter 7:
I Got Transported to Another World by Tornado and I Became a Monster Caretaker
"Wow, but how?"
The baby dragon looks at me and makes a howling sound.
"Eh, sorry. I don't speak dragon."
The baby dragon, seemingly upset, decides to lay back in the crib.
"Oops! I didn't mean what I said, or anything that could upset you, baby dragon. Please."
But nothing—the baby dragon just lies in the crib.
"Well, I guess I'm going to sleep now."
I try to sleep—the keyword being try—as I cannot stop thinking about Mimic.
"I hope Mimic is okay."
Green Iron Maw
In one of the cells reserved for injured prisoners, the cell was clean compared to the regular ones. Then, a shuffling sound. Then, a knock on the door.
Mimic was awakened by the door opening.
"Here's your food, prisoner. Don't forget to eat because we don't want to deal with your body if you die."
Then the door closes.
"Where is Mimic right now?"
Mimic looks around and notices this isn't his cell—it's a different one.
"Argon, are you here?"
But nothing. There's almost no sound; the deafening silence is the only noise that can be heard.
"Oh no, Mimic got separated from another friend. Must be Mimic's fate to be lonely."
Mimic then looks at the food tray the warden gave him. It was some sort of jelly meat and a biscuit with a glass of dirty water.
"Mimic guesses he better eat."
Mimic eats the jelly meat. The taste is bland compared to Rissette's cooking.
"Mimic misses Rissette, Slime, and the baby dragon."
Mimic continues to finish the bland and efficiently made prison food. To finish, Mimic tries drinking the water from the glass. The water tastes like dirt, or even worse—contaminated by feces or something equally dirty.
"Blech! This water tastes strange."
"Mimic doesn't like this place. Mimic wants to go home—either to my home or second home."
Mimic then lies on the floor, holding his legs.
"Please take Mimic somewhere nice."
Mimic starts to imagine his home village. Suddenly, the place around Mimic changes. The tight prison cell walls are replaced with trees, and the door of the cell is gone. The only thing that exists now is Mimic in his home village.
The village was small because of the size of the people that lived there. The tallest tree equals the height of a human teenager.
end the wind was cold making Mimic skin cold the air of the village was different because of the abundant of tree that co-exist with the goblin
"Hey, Mimic! Want to play with us?" asks a female goblin with hazel hair.
"Huh? Oh, no. Mimic prefers to be alone."
"Really? Why?"
"Because they're just going to make fun of Mimic."
"Well, let's prove them wrong, okay?"
The female goblin offers her hand to Mimic.
"Are you sure you want to play with Mimic?"
"Yeah, come on. Take my hand."
Mimic takes the girl's hand.
"Sorry, Mimic forgot your name."
"Oh, it's okay. My name is Echo."
"That's a pretty name, unlike Mimic's."
"Really? Well, I never minded names."
"Now come on, let's play."
Echo pulls Mimic's hand to take him somewhere.
"Whoa, slow down, Echo!"
"Hehe, no! We have to be quick because time is precious."
Echo brings Mimic to the village square where other goblins the same age as Mimic and Echo gather.
"Hey everyone, look who we have here—Mimic the loser."
"Yeah! And look, Mimic found someone who's forced to care for him. Heh."
"Shut up, you blabbermouth! Mimic can definitely beat all of you in a fight. Right, Mimic?"
"What? No, totally not! What is Echo even saying?" Mimic replies with a scared voice.
"Oh, is that so? Then we have to prove it."
The leader of the group prepares to fight.
"Yeah, Mimic can take you."
"Come on, Mimic. Stand there—it's your ring now."
"Mimic never agreed to this."
"What is Mimic even saying? Mimic totally agreed when he grabbed Echo's hand. Hehe."
Echo pushes Mimic into the "ring."
"Alright, get ready, Mimic!" Echo says.
"Mimic's not sure he can beat him."
"Don't worry, I'll support you."
"Okay, Mimic trusts Echo."
Echo blushes.
"What is Mimic saying? Just prepare to fight, okay?"
"Alright, before we begin, let me tell you my name."
"Okay, what's your name?"
"Burlesque. Yeah, Burlesque's my name."
"Now prepare to feel Burlesque's special fist!"
Burlesque makes the first move to punch Mimic. Mimic screams and tries to dodge, but it's too late. The fist... is caught by Mimic?!
"Oh, looks like Echo was telling the truth."
Mimic can't believe it—he was able to stop a fist from someone twice as strong as him.
"Mimic, come on! Fight back!" Echo shouts.
Burlesque starts to punch again. This time, Mimic is able to see the movement and dodge.
"Hehe, yeah! Go, Mimic!" Echo gives encouraging words to Mimic.
"How is this even possible?"
"Come on, Mimic! Punch him now!"
Mimic punches Burlesque in the face and surprisingly knocks him out.
"Yeah! Mimic, looks like you won with a single punch! Amazing—Mimic is the true champion!"
The crowd starts to praise Mimic.
"Yeah, Mimic the one-hitter!"
"I can't believe it—Mimic is surprisingly strong!"
The crowd continues to discuss Mimic's exploit until...
"Hey, what's all this commotion?"
One of the goblins yells, "Oh no, it's the guard! Run!"
Everyone leaves the premises except Mimic, who still stands there, unable to believe he managed to take down the bully who loved to make fun of him.
"You there, don't move! The chief wants to see you."
"Huh? But Mimic is no—"
The guard grabs Mimic.
"Save your excuses."
Mimic gets taken by the guard to the village chief's house.
"Excuse me, Strong. Strong brought a troublemaker for you to counsel, Chief."
"Ah, Strong. Oh, looks like you brought Mimic."
"Strong leaves Mimic in your care, Chief. Now excuse Strong."
Strong leaves Mimic with the village chief.
"Now explain, Mimic."
"Mimic got into a fight, but Mimic wasn't the aggressor—it was Echo."
"Ah, excuses, excuses. Mimic, when you want to fight, you don't bring other people as your reason to fight that person."
"But it's the truth, Chief."
The chief sighs. "Okay, I believe you. Now Mimic, wait here. Chief is going to call your mom, okay?"
The chief leaves Mimic alone in his study.
Mimic then explore the chief study there Mimic see the table made of the wood choped from the tree village end Mimic can see a fireplace made from stone end as mimic look for more Mimic see a cabinet filled with herb end some potion
Mimic looks outside the window to see Echo.
"Boo! Did Echo scare Mimic?"
"Ahh!"
"Hehe, is that Mimic's most manly scream?"
"Mimic doesn't want to talk to Echo. Leave Mimic alone, please."
"Echo's sorry, okay? But don't you feel good that you beat Burlesque?"
"Fine, it feels good. Hehe."
"Well, looks like Mimic accepted Echo's apology."
"Echo's going to leave now."
Echo leaves Mimic.
"Bye, Echo," Mimic says softly.
The chief comes back with Mimic's mom.
"Mimic, what have you done? Did you cause trouble again?"
"What? No, Mom! Mimic caused no such thing."
"It's okay, Muse. Mimic didn't do anything bad—it's nothing more than children's mischief."
"Oh, thank the tree! Well, can Mimic leave, Chief?"
"Oh yeah, Muse. Please bring Mimic home."
"Okay, come here, Mimic."
Mimic leaves the chief's house with his mom.
"So, Mimic, did you win the fight?"
"Huh? Yeah, Mom. This time Mimic won."
"Hehe, hooray! That's my Mimic."
Mimic's mom pats Mimic's head.
"Mom, stop it."
"Hehe, looks like we have to celebrate with a feast."
"Yeah! Can we have fish for dinner, Mom?"
"Fish? Sure, that's your favorite food, right?"
"Yes, Mom. Mimic loves fish."
Mimic and his mom arrive at their small house. In goblin culture, after having a son, the male leaves their loved ones to venture outside, leaving their wife and children.
"Okay, now wait in the living room while Mom prepares dinner, okay?"
"Okay, Mom."
Mimic waits on the chair.
"Hmm, I never thought this chair could be so comfy."
Mimic starts to get tired and closes his eyes.
A few minutes later...
"Mimic, come wake up! Dinner's ready."
"Hehe, okay, Mom."
But then, as if everything is suddenly falling apart, Mimic's house is replaced with narrow prison walls, and the place starts to enclose, forming a prison cell.
"Wake up, prisoner."
"Huh? Mimic is awake."
"Good. It looks like you're not hurt and seemingly look better. Now follow me, but if you try to escape, you know what happens, right?"
"Yeah, sir."
Mimic leaves the cell to follow the warden, who brings Mimic back to his original cell.
"There you go—you're home. Try not to cause trouble again, prisoner."
The warden leaves Mimic in his cell.
"Mimic, is that you?" Argon asks.
"Yeah, Argon. It's Mimic."
"Hehe, thank the earth."
"You look somewhat better. What happened?"
"Huh? Oh, Mimic dreamed about Mimic's home village."
"Oh, that must be happy memories then."
"It's more bittersweet for Mimic."
"Is that so? Well, I'm just glad you returned. Come sit on your bed—we have something to discuss."
"Okay."
"I'm going to tell you a way to escape from this place."
"Wait, what do you mean, escape?"
"Don't worry, it's really a simple plan."
