Chapter 0:
Peaceful Life of a Reincarnated God
The Age of Chaos
The planet is engulfed in war—a war involving mages, demons, and humans. Humans, barely able to survive among the mages, unite with them to stand against the Demons and the Undead.
In this world, humans are too weak compared to mages and Heroes to influence the outcome of the war. Other races wage war against them to seize their lands.
And I, a great mage, fight in this war.
"Akusa!" shouted one of my subordinates.
He was an ordinary, well-trained human, clad in silver armor enchanted by my protective magic.
"You've received a letter from enemy territory!"
"..."
We stood near the camp, where numerous tents were pitched. Small mountains rose on either side, and blooming fields stretched out ahead.
Taking the letter, I saw the emblem of a lion—a symbol of strength and pride for all the races fighting against us. Opening the letter, I said:
"They demand we surrender our capital."
"Akusa, what should we do?"
"Where is Tasume now?"
"Tasume-sama is on the right flank, liberating a settlement."
"I see. Tasume-sama is my best friend, known among our circle as Tasu."
I felt a powerful surge of magic behind me.
An arrow flew toward me at great speed. Turning around, I caught it with my hand. It grazed me slightly.
"Akusa, are you alright?"
"Yes," I replied, looking at my hand with a small wound and holding the arrow.
"The arrow is glowing!" exclaimed my subordinate.
"I think it's enchanted with some spell, but I don't sense its effects yet."
"My lord, your wound..."
My hand bled slightly.
"It's fine," I said, healing the wound. "See? Nothing to worry about."
"What shall we do next?"
"Akusa, don't you want to find who fired the arrow?"
"It's not important for now."
We entered the tent, where a large table stood in the center with a map spread out on it.
"When will reinforcements arrive?"
"In about three days."
"That's bad. I don't think Tasu will hold out that long. Besides, judging by the arrow coming from the rear, they’re trying to flank us. I also can’t participate directly in the battle—I’m occupied with healing and repelling major attacks."
"One more thing: in the central direction, I noticed many undead," added the subordinate.
"Things couldn't be worse. I feel my strength leaving me. My mana is decreasing as if someone is draining it."
"How many people and mages are in the reinforcements?"
"About ten thousand humans and over three hundred mages."
"Understood. They must be near the crossing now, correct?"
"Yes, the last report came a few hours ago, and they were approaching the crossing."
"Got it."
In mere moments, I teleported to the crossing where the reinforcements were. Approaching their commander, I said:
"Akusa!" Everyone bowed their heads.
"No need for such formalities. We’re at war, and here, everyone is equal. I want to discuss your next mission."
"I'm listening carefully," the commander replied.
"I want to divide your forces, but first, I’ll teleport you closer to the battlefield."
"Divide and teleport us?"
"I will split you into three groups with equal numbers of people and mages."
"You plan to surround the enemy?"
"Exactly."
"And how will you teleport us?"
"I will cast a teleportation spell that will immediately send you to your positions. At the same time, I’ll divide your forces."
"Understood."
"Inform the troops."
The commander quickly relayed the order. He was a good and wise man, an experienced warrior. It was a shame that so many like him were dying in this war.
"Everything is ready!"
"Then I’ll prepare the spell. Be ready."
"We’re ready!" the soldiers shouted.
A massive green magic circle appeared over the troops, and the next moment, they were all transported.
I returned to my camp, where I saw the undead army marching across the green field in the distance. Soon, this beauty would be no more.
"Akusa, you’re back?" my subordinate asked.
"Yes."
"What did you do?"
"I sped up the reinforcements’ arrival."
My assistant looked puzzled.
"Alright, what’s the situation on all fronts? Our camp was attacked, wasn’t it?"
"Yes, but your barrier saved us. On the right flank, Tasume successfully cleared the settlement, and on the left, we’re also repelling attacks."
"Tasu never ceases to amaze..." I said.
"What?"
"Nothing. Forget it."
"So, our main problem now is the army of the undead."
"Yes. I estimate there are over five thousand of them."
"I’ll have to intervene personally."
"My lord, what are you planning?"
"I’ll destroy that zombie army."
Analyzing the arrow, I realized it was enchanted. Most likely, the spell was designed to drain mana and transfer it to the arrow's owner. If that’s the case, his body might not withstand my mana unless he knows how to control its volume. After destroying the undead army, my mana will be greatly diminished, but there’s no other choice.
Prologue, part 2:
"Meeting God: Fate and Power in the Age of Chaos"
“Akusa-sama, are you really sure about this?” asked my subordinate.
“You know which god dominates this land. That god despises mages and demons, fearing their power might someday threaten his rule. Though he is the strongest being in the universe, he struggles to maintain his place in the world. Simply put, he wants to remain the sole ruler.”
If I use this power, he will likely intervene in the war. A foolish reason for such a powerful god, but that’s the reality. I stepped onto a small clearing, preparing to cast the spell.
Using the spell Reon, I intended to obliterate the army of the undead. Focusing on the center of their horde, I summoned a magical circle, from which a fiery beam struck the earth. Moments later, a powerful explosion erupted at the center of the army, accompanied by a shockwave that I amplified and concentrated into a destructive ring. The undead were torn to pieces, and the earth's crust cracked for tens of kilometers around.
Back at our camp, the shockwave's wind and a mild earthquake could be felt.
“Well, that’s that. The undead are no more,” I said, satisfied with my work.
“Yes, I can see that,” my subordinate replied, staring at me in astonishment.
“Now, we can say victory is—”
“Akusa-sama, look!” my subordinate interrupted with a shout.
I looked up at the sky. The clouds parted, and something indistinct descended from above. Its aura was overwhelming.
“Akusa-sama, what is that?”
“I think our worst fear is coming true.”
“You mean… it’s a god?”
“That’s right. Most likely the very god who loathes foreign power. But why would such a powerful god descend to kill a weak mage like me?”
“Akusa-sama, what should we do?”
“We could use Tasume’s help, but it’s better not to involve him.”
“But there’s no way you can fight a god!”
I knew that, but there was no choice. To be honest, I didn’t particularly cling to life. I thought about this with mild sorrow.
At that moment, Aver Akadzo appeared beside me—a god who rules over our world and, most likely, betrayed humanity. He grabbed me by the neck and lifted me into the air.
“Akusa-sama!” my subordinate shouted, only to be flung back dozens of meters by a gust of wind magic from the god.
“So, you’re the mage who managed to stop my subordinate’s arrow and easily annihilated an army of ten thousand zombies,” Aver said.
“And nearly destroyed our world!” he added.
“….” He knows about that too… I had forgotten this might attract his attention. My thoughts briefly drifted to the past.
“You’re correct,” I said with difficulty.
“Then I wasn’t mistaken.”
“So, what do you want? Why are you here?” I asked in a slightly hoarse voice.
“It seems you still have lives to spare, judging by how you speak to a god.”
Did I anger him?
“Why am I here? It’s simple: your mana and your potential!”
“What about them?” I shouldn’t have said that… He can likely sense my mana, though not completely.
“You’re not being honest? Then I’ll explain, since I’ve been watching you for a long time.”
“You sealed most of your mana to hide your true strength during school tests, didn’t you?”
Truly a god! He even knows that…
“Akusa? What’s going on? I heard an explosion, and then something in the sky…” I heard Tasume’s voice growing fainter.
“It’s a god. They told us about him in school.”
“Ah, now I remember,” Tasume said, glancing away to prepare a surprise attack.
“So, the snack has arrived,” Aver said, releasing me.
He doesn’t deserve the title of a god. He’s more like a demon.
Meanwhile, Tasume swung his sword at Aver from behind.
“Do you really think that’ll work?” Aver said, turning at incredible speed and catching the blade with his hand.
He then effortlessly snapped it like a twig.
“You’re very weak,” Aver said, delivering a punch to Tasume.
“Tasume!” I shouted.
Tasume managed to raise a barrier, but it shattered, and the punch struck his arms. He partially protected himself but was thrown into a cliff over a hundred meters away. The cliff crumbled.
“What power…” my subordinate murmured.
“Tasume, are you alive?!” I shouted.
“Seems so, but that hurt,” Tasume replied faintly.
In the meantime, I removed the mana seal.
“So, you’ve removed the limiter,” Aver said with a smirk.
In that instant, I struck his arm with my sword.
“What?!” I exclaimed in disbelief.
“Hahaha, it’s amusing to see helpless mages,” Aver laughed darkly.
I attacked with nearly full power, but he remained unharmed. It was incomprehensible… I leaped back, realizing my opponent surpassed me.
“Well then, let’s have some fun,” Aver said, instantly teleporting to me and grabbing my neck, dragging me into open space.
“Akusaaa!” Tasume’s scream echoed.
“How’s this? Take a last look,” Aver said.
I gazed at the earth, and in the next moment, Avar impaled me with a sword.
“At school, they told you not to chase power—it will destroy you. See?”
Seriously?! Such a foolish justification?!
Avar turned back to the earth.
I quickly pulled the sword out, healed my wounds, and cast Mekisu, granting myself oxygen and warmth in space.
“You can try whatever you like, but you must realize I’m far stronger than you,” Aver said.
Aver began approaching me. I snapped my fingers, amplifying the sound impulse to try and stop him. But as expected, it was futile.
“Alright, let’s end this!” Avar said, starting to construct a magical sequence.
Prologue, Part 3:
"The Millennial Sealing"
I analyzed the magical sequence created by Aver. I had never encountered such magical circles before; it was clearly ancient magic, something not even found in books. Perhaps it was his own spell, which made it all the more unpredictable.
“Let’s see how you handle this attack,” Aver said before launching a powerful beam of light at me.
I created a barrier, pouring almost all my strength into it. When the beam collided with the barrier, it split into two parts and destroyed a dozen planets behind me.
“The barrier cracked,” I said quietly, dismissing the barrier. I was nearly drained of energy.
“You know, I’m surprised you managed to withstand that attack. Your barrier is indeed well-crafted,” Aver said, instantly appearing next to me and striking me in the stomach with immense force. I was sent hurtling toward the ground.
I fell at tremendous speed, with Aver following close behind. My body wouldn’t respond, likely due to internal organ damage, and the pain in my stomach was excruciating. I crashed into the ground and lost consciousness.
“A few minutes later”
Everything hurts. I hit the ground after Aver’s attack… How did I even survive? There’s a damp smell… Am I near water? All right, time to open my eyes.
I opened my eyes and found myself in a cave. It was quite large, with a small lake in the center.
I turned and saw Aver, who seemed to be deep in thought.
“Oh, you’re awake. Now we can begin,” Aver said, approaching me.
Begin what? I had no strength left… He came closer.
“Now you’ll sleep for many years,” Aver declared with a smirk. We’ll have our fun in the future, Aver thought to himself.
A magical circle appeared beneath me, and a translucent purple pyramid began to form around me, enclosing me completely. Magical shackles were placed on my arms and legs, restricting my power. In an instant, my entire body was healed. At that moment, I lost consciousness.
"The Mages’ and Humans’ Camp"
Meanwhile, Tasume and my subordinate were at the camp where it had all begun.
“Tasume, how are you?” my subordinate asked.
“I’m fine now; I just underestimated the strength of the opponent.”
“Where’s Akusa?”
“I don’t know. I was only able to determine that they were in space. That’s where I sensed Aver’s overwhelming aura,” said one of Akusa’s mage subordinates.
“In space?”
“Yes…”
“Well, here’s my snack,” Aver said, approaching them slowly and clapping his hands.
“Where’s Akusa? What did you do to him?” Tasume asked sharply.
“What? I defeated him in an almost fair duel and then sealed him away.”
“Sealed him? What do you mean?” Akusa’s subordinate asked.
“Don’t you understand? I completely stopped the flow of his time and almost entirely restricted his powers so he couldn’t free himself.”
“You’re a true monster,” Tasume said in a harsh tone.
“What? I’ve made the world safer from powerful mages like him. And you’ll meet the same fate.”
At that moment, something approached from behind.
“Goodbye.”
Tasume managed to dodge the sword Aver controlled.
“Oh, you even dodged. I didn’t expect that. For your ego, let me tell you—I sped up the sword. It moves faster than a bullet.”
“How arrogant,” Tasume replied.
Aver smirked and instantly teleported to Tasume, aiming to land a punch.
“I anticipated that,” Tasume said with a smile.
Tasume dodged the punch and, drawing an enchanted sword from a bottomless storage, struck Aver in the back. Aver fell to the ground.
“How does it feel to be beaten by an ordinary mage?” Tasume asked.
“Beaten? Don’t make me laugh,” Aver said, standing up with a sinister expression. “Did you really think one strike would be enough to defeat me?”
Tasume’s sword hadn’t even pierced the barrier surrounding Aver. Tasume looked stunned.
“Tasume, look out!” shouted Akusa’s mage subordinate, who had just arrived at the scene.
At that moment, Aver approached Tasume from behind, placing his hand on him and paralyzing him.
“Well then, little one, you’re of no use to me,” Aver said to the subordinate. Not to say I lost easily, but since Akusa didn’t play his trump cards, I won’t either… Tasume thought to himself.
"The Cave Where Akusa is Sealed"
The damp smell… Tasume thought, opening his eyes.
“Am I in a cave?”
“Yes, exactly.”
“Akusaaa!” Tasume shouted but couldn’t move, as Aver had placed restraining shackles on him.
“Oh, you noticed him.”
“What did you do to him?”
“I told you—I sealed him.”
“And you’ll meet the same fate.”
“I don’t understand. We bring good to this world, especially for people. Why would you want to seal us?”
Aver remained silent.
“I see… You only care about your place in this world and don’t want anyone to surpass you in power.”
Aver remained silent again.
He then began constructing a magical pyramid to seal Tasume as well.
“Well, Akusa… we’ll meet again in the future,” Tasume thought, closing his eyes.
“The sealing is complete,” Aver said as Tasume lost consciousness, falling to the center of the magical pyramid.
“Enjoy your rest,” Aver said as he left the cave.
