Chapter 11:
The Tale Of An Overlord
Chapter thirteen:
Five months later.
Adrian looked out of the voiture to the mana gun pointed at his face.
"If you point that at me, then you must be ready to fight me." A rare smiled appeared on his face as his aura burst forward like a raging ocean.
Earlier that day,
"Since your birthday is tomorrow, we could stay at Martindale to celebrate it." Maria suggested. Tomorrow was the 22nd of the 7th month, Adrian's birthday. Tomorrow was also the day the Wilbert family would visit the Miguel family of Martindale. Martindale was roughly 6 hours away from Uthean but the Wilbert's wanted to be on time.
20 voitures were already prepared, some carrying gifts for the Miguels and others materials for the successful celebration of the birthday.
Kairos, the matriarch wouldn't be able to go with them, and Maria and Hillan had to act as representatives.
"Even mortals bleed when they don't know what they're made of. Don't be foolish. Don't forget who you are."
As Adrian idly watched as the gifts were arranged into the voitures, his mind went back to Olga's last words.
"I know what I am made of, and I know who I am." His gaze went over the walls of the manor and into the Wilbert Domain. "I hate to be controlled, I seek something interesting but I don't want to be actively involved…" Adrian paused then looked at the sky, at the two burning suns.
The voitures set off, Adrian occupied one voiture with only one other person, the driver. He slid his Excel out and immersed himself, this time not in novels but in a game.
"Finally, opponents." Adrian smiled.
After beating the tenth player, Adrian put down the Excel and looked out the windows. "Old fool, what power do I possess exactly." Adrian questioned.
Adrian had wondered this question eternally but refused to ask the old fool. He could tell his power allowed him to master skills easily but it wasn't exactly copy skill, he knew he had near infinite mana thus the ability to summon beings stronger than him like Valhalla. Even his book of characters was a forbidden classified tome he found in the middle belts grand library, barely complete at that point. That day the earth rumbled and the skies roared, bleeding rain down. Barely visible flickering halo's appeared above his head and below his elbows.
Even on the last day of his time in the middle belt magic academy, the day he fought the dean, a similar thing happened so he could deduce his power had to do with Halo.
<<The…>>
Adrian turned back to his excel with a calm look as he heard old fool's response.
Time passed quickly and soon, the procession was halfway to Martindale.
Boom.
An explosion happened in the front.
Tatata.
Sharp shooting sounds could be heard. The screams of guards and maids were heard, the sound of magic blasting accompanying it.
Thuds
The door was slapped open, Adrian looked up from his Excel.
Ta.
A slick looking tool, capable of shooting condensed mana beams shot at the driver. The assailant turned the barrel to Adrian's head.
"If you point that at me, you should be ready to face me." Adrian smiled; His aura burst forward like a raging ocean shooting the cars roof off.
Tatattat.
The assailant shot three bullets at Adrian. The bullets stopped before they reached his face.
"Yawn, even my mother's dog poses more of a threat than you." Adrian looked at the mana bullets before him and flicked them. Their forms altered and became one thin thread.
The thread latched itself around the assailant's neck and cleaved his head off.
Like the bullets, the blood didn't touch him. He brushed his white shirt and put his legs on the front seat of jumped out.
Thud.
"You guys should only warrant null." Adrian said.
"Not bad though, the principle has been the only one to entertain me
." He grinned as he looked at the road bandits.
Swoosh.
Adrian phased from his spot.
Splat.
A head was smashed, and another, and another. Adrian seemed to be enjoying it, the grin he bore showed a dark side to the disinterested bookworm.
"Kill another one of my brothers and they lose their heads." Adrian turned around. Maria and Hillan had been lowered to their knees. He frowned, he sparred with his dad several times, and he was able to take him to take him down once , if this bandit was able to lower his knees this easily, he should be able to force Adrian to use his power.
"I am sky rank, and I am not bluffing, move and they both die." The bandit head said.
"So, you are mob number one… don't you know talking in a fight just wastes energy?" Adrian grabbed another bandit.
"Then we are both losing energy.''
"Yeah, that's where the mistake is… I have it in abundance." Adrian smashed another head.
"Fool!" Vax turned to grab Maria and Hillan but they were far from him.
"Sorry." Valhalla gently placed Hillan and Marian down. "Master says he will handle this."
"Let's go now. !" Adrian's aura shot up to the sky. The obsidian aura painting the sky.
The ground beneath Adrian caved in as he phased.
"Just know that for touching my parents, you'll die after entertaining me, pig." Adrian's voice resounded.
<<The power you possess? Never thought you'd be interested to know… it is the power of magical adaptation. Which is unlike your weak physical power, you can change and meet the requirements for any battle, your infinite mana further aids it, you can also adapt to easily learn spells. If overloaded, then you will be reduced to the state you were after fighting the principle. The halo you see are just visible signs of how well you adapted to a specific magic type>>
"The thief's sword:" Vax adjusted his stance for a battle. All his bandits had been killed and he alone remained.
Adrian phased in front of Vax. "One draw." Vax's sword was drawn. It cut through Adrian's collar before he phased away.
'Reading novels doesn't equate to battle experience.' Adrian thought as he held his torn collar.
"You made the first move. Now, nothing can blame me for totally eradicating you… no law." Adrian folded his sleeves and pulled out the book of characters.
"Character form: Talon *4." Four eagle lions formed around Adrian.
"Character form: Devil's blade." A sleek black blade appeared in Adrian's hands from a golden smoke.
"Go." Adrian ordered the eagle lions.
KAA
The clouds darkened, almost as if the rain wanted to fall.
"This is master's power." Valhalla smiled.
Boom.
The birds pestered Vax but eventually, he took them down.
"Isn't this cowardice, why hide behind birds?" Vax cussed.
"Meteorite." Adrian whispered as he pointed his blade at Vax. The earth flew up and flames converged.
A giant ball hung in the sky. "Fall."
"I am exacting vengeance for my brothers!" Vax slashed his sword at the incoming meteorite dividing it into two.
"I said fall." Adrian muttered and the sky rumbled.
Katche
Lightning struck Vax.
"You are weaker than I expected." Adrian stood by Vax's charred body, the pungent scent not repulsing to him. He tapped his foot over the ground and the earth swallowed the body.
Swoosh.
Adrian phased away.
