Chapter 9:
The Commander's Final Class
Flashback.
On the day Arata was absent from class, he was at a secluded cafe. He sat across from Shion's mother and Deputy Commander Isshin.
"So, you're sure about this plan, Arata-kun?" Shion's mother asked.
Arata nodded. "Shion has already entered very dangerous territory. The only way to make him realize is to make him experience real hell."
Arata explained his entire plan. He would use military interrogation tactics to make Shion panic, and then he would become Shion's savior. Uncle Isshin, who was also Shion's nephew, agreed to participate. He knew this was the only way to save Shion. Shion's mother also agreed, albeit reluctantly.
The next day, Shion and Akari were waiting for Arata in front of the Academy as usual. They were bickering, no longer about who was better, but about who could greet Arata first.
"I'll go first, Shion! I'll be the one to call Sensei first!" Akari exclaimed, ready to run.
"No way, Yumehara-chan! I'm definitely going to win this! Sensei will be more impressed with me!" Shion retorted, his smile now more genuine.
In the distance, Arata walked casually towards them. Seeing their childish squabble, Arata could only smile. He had seen Shion at his lowest point, but also at the moment he realized his mistake. He knew the Shion he was looking at now was the beginning of something new. He was no longer the cunning "fox," but someone who had finally found his way.
As Arata got closer, both Shion and Akari shouted, ready to run.
"ARATA SENSEI! GOOD MORNING!"
Quotes From Author:
"A teacher is not merely an instructor—they are a beacon in the fog of ignorance, lighting the way even as they burn themselves out. In silence, they fight. In solitude, they weep. And yet they remain standing, for a future that isn’t theirs.
