Chapter 8:
I Was An Office Worker Till I Was The Hero!?
Hey there reader or readers! By now, I have to assume you've made it several chapters into my strange isekai tale. Well, I know you have if you're reading this! How are you liking my story so far? I hope I'm not boring you, I am an amateur writer that only took up the craft later in life. I bet part of you thinks that me writing an intermission like this takes out the tension of the tale. That I somehow, despite all odds, made it to the "final boss" and was able to best him and return to my world as a proper hero. I don't blame you for having this thought! I mean...I did return to my world and I did beat Slain right? Hehehe, sorry I can't help but laugh. Well you'll have to keep reading to discover the truth and I'll be honest...my ending might surprise you all which means I did a pretty good job as a story teller!
I mention it a few times in my story that I love isekai but after my experiences becoming a literal isekai hero, I wanted to curse all the isekai authors out. None of them prepared me for the crazy hell I was about to endure but at my old age I also realize that blaming them isn't really fair. Despite the numerous great isekai I've read like Saber Arts Offline, which focuses on a silver swordsman who ends up trapped in the real world after somehow magically escaping his own game world. Or The Shielded Heroine which has a strong female protagonist thrown into another world and dubbed the Shielded Heroine. Orrr my personal favorite, D.O.O.R, a soldier leads their crew on a perilous mission to discover new lands. None of these tales capture what it's like to be in an isekai situation because they are fiction and I lived a very non-fictional tale first hand!
Okay, okay, I'm sure you want to know what the purpose of this intermission is. Well, the short answer I guess is so I can reflect a bit nearing the end of my long life. Yes, I do survive my isekai life but that didn't grant me immortality. My bones are weaker now, my legs make standing almost impossible unassisted and even eating is a battle of sorts. Writing this took assistance of...someone close and they are the ones actually typing my tale out for me. They are now yelling at me for breaking the immersion a bit but that's okay! The beauty of storytelling is that I can do what I want with my story and even if it isn't well received that is okay too! Plus, being old means they can't hit me without feeling a tinge of guilt.
I digress...sorry losing my train of thought, happens with age. Right...the purpose of these intermissions, notice I said plural. I want to show a side of the isekai story not seen in any book I've perused over the years. The stories are 95% of the time focused on telling the experiences of the when but not of the now. I kind of wanted to change all that and be somewhat of a visionary! I won't slam you with these every time I promise. I only have two more planned. One for when the story reaches the middle and another near the end. Now let us continue to my story...the training that would really show me, I had a lot to learn but just maybe I could pull off a miracle!
OHHHH before I forget. Have any of you readers noticed the hidden detail in my chapter names? Hehe...if you did good on you! If not, maybe pay attention to each one a bit closer. I'll be nice and give you another hint later. I see my "actual" writer is giving me a smirk as they have already deduced what secret I hid.
