Chapter 21:

The Hunt Begins

The Devourer of Destiny

After countless attempts to find the figure of the Devourer Destiny, the God of a Speck of Light—Zia had no clear results besides his identity and face. The clues provided by mortals were limited, and his search skills were quite poor compared to others. Just thinking about that figure made his anger flare up. Eventually, he went to the Elf Forest, where he could calm himself down for a moment. However, who would've thought he'd meet the Holy Seer, Sylvia there.

In the western part of the Elf Forest, the Holy Seer, who descended from the sky without wings, gazed at Zia from a distance. The purplish shawl that encircled her waist now extended from her hand to the ground. Zia looked at the seer with a sharp gaze, yet he was also baffled by Sylvia's presence here today. She was willing to descend just for someone whom Zia so disdained.

Sylvia stood on the ground and looked up at the sky through a gap in the tree branches, which grew 5x taller than her body. Then, she sighed while turning her head to the right, finding Zia now looking at her as if with hatred.
"What business do you have descending into the mortal realm?" Zia asked. "Even willing to sacrifice yourself when you're not well," he added, walking closer.

"I apologize for only being a demigod, just a holy seer with a little bit of advantage, but I have gotten better." Sylvia took a few steps forward, clearly trying to avoid Zia. "Also, I want to find that person myself because it seems the god who was ordered to do so hasn't yielded anything yet," she added, alluding to Zia.

"How dare you speak so insolently! I've already found clues, all that's left is to find him. Besides, he'll die sooner or later, so what's the rush!?" Zia raised his voice, clenching his hands in front of him as if to challenge her. Feeling underestimated, he could no longer hold back his anger.

"Really?"

"Right! He is exactly like he was 90 years ago! A man who always wears black clothes, with red eyes and red tips of his hair. Those characteristics are exactly the same as the Devourer Destiny from that era!"

Sylvia fell silent for a moment and stopped walking. She was thinking in her mind about the characteristics of the person Zia had just mentioned. Meanwhile, Zia's emotions exploded, his breathing becoming erratic, his sharp, bulging eyes looking more like a rebellious child than a figure of powerful authority.

"The humans and creatures who betrayed the Upper Realm think the Devourer Destiny hasn't appeared for the last 4,000 years. Don't forget, Lord God of a Speck of Light, only we know about his appearances several times."
Sylvia now faced Zia with a face full of anger. Her eyes, which looked like starlight, glowed brightly, the glare making Zia turn away to avoid the light.

"Don't let all this information be known by the humans, including the despicable creatures in the Night City," Sylvia stated. That firm tone was full of threat. Zia was left feeling pressured by all the sentences she had just uttered.

Zia swallowed hard, suppressing his explosive emotions. He took another step forward and extended his right hand toward Sylvia.

"I know you're a great seer. If you really want to catch him, you won't be enough alone. Prophesy about me and you'll find his figure fallen and crawling at my feet," Zia said arrogantly.

"This situation is not the same as the one 90 years ago. He is different from his thousands of failures in the past," Sylvia said, then left.

The Holy Seer was born in this forest. The name she adopted was a source of personal pride. Her figure, which was so elegant in all white, had now become one with nature. Her dress was green, and her hair was dark brown. Her right hand clutched a rather large wooden staff, and her magical power was so abundant that she seemed more than just an seer.

A young elf stood before her, his pointed ears moving slightly when he realized someone had arrived. He then bowed respectfully to Sylvia.

"Uru, you have reached Level 12 High-ranking Magician, the strongest elf who lives next to human settlements. The strongest elf in this forest, am I right?"

"I dare not consider myself a strong person."

"You are very humble, but I don't have time to visit others. However, can you help me?"

"Whatever you command is an honor, My Queen."

"Dead or alive, bring me the head of a man named Mahendra. If you succeed, I will help you live in the Upper Realm," Sylvia said.
"Understood."

Northern Region. This region is the coldest of all the others. It is famous for the abundance of white along the roads. The region, which is snowy and full of ice rocks as well as an extremely cold ice river, would instantly freeze anyone who fell into it. This region is guarded and led by one of the 4 strongest legends, the Nephilim.

A guest came from a distance who had to go to the trouble of meeting that figure. She was the Goddess of Healing—Panacea. This graceful woman now had to walk dozens of meters to the Ice Cave, the ruler's residence. Her steps felt heavy when walking on the snow, not to mention that she sometimes had to pass through storms that appeared without warning. Only relying on her small feet, she was able to walk solely because of the rules of the Upper Realm.

The two rules of the Upper Realm for the gods and goddesses are not to use their powers carelessly while in the human world and not to interfere with human problems. These two rules do not apply, however, if they are dealing with a figure dangerous to the creatures of the three realms.

After a long journey, they finally reached the Ice Cave. A figure, one of the four strongest legends people in the Sky World whom even the gods and goddesses of the Upper Realm didn't want to provoke, appeared before Panacea without warning.

"Nephilim... Lord Nephilim, how have you been?"

The figure appeared before her but only showed a hint of their silver hair. Panacea could only see from the dark shadow that he truly would appear if someone visited the Ice Cave.
"How have I been? Are you sure you're asking about my well-being? Or is it because you need something?"

This person's thoughts were incredibly sharp, even Panacea couldn't guess them. A cold air began to penetrate her power shield, and Panacea started to shiver slightly due to the extremely harsh weather of the region. Meanwhile, Nephilim seemed unfazed, and that's person manner of speech was as normal as any human's.

Nephilim never wants to show face, just converses from behind a stone ice wall, as usual.

"Huh... talking to this person is much more exhausting than I thought," Panacea mused to herself.

"I apologize for the sudden visit. I am the Goddess of Healing, Panacea, and I didn't come just to ask about your well-being."

"Don't beat around the bush."

"The Devourer Destiny has appeared again. Please help us capture him."

The situation fell silent for a moment. There was no response from the Nephilim figure. This silence continued for more than 10 minutes, and Panacea's power shield finally shattered, unable to hold on any longer.

"Him again. In the past, I might have helped, but not this time. I don't want to. Besides, I've never cared about what that person does." His heavy voice was undoubtedly a man's. She had no idea about his physical posture, but Nephilim's aura was certainly far beyond imagination.

Panacea's legs trembled. She fell onto the layer of ice inside the cave, catching her heavy breath as the cold air almost froze her.

"Didn't you promise to do anything we asked? As long as your archenemy hasn't been found?"

"That's why I said, I DON'T WANT TO!" Nephilim roared.

At the same time, a sliver of ancient magic power leaked out again and was detected by Zia, Panacea, and even Sylvia, who was in the human realm. At that moment, Mahendra's magical power increased, thanks to the magic core of a girl who loved him dearly. His power level had reached Level Superior Great Magician.
