Chapter 2:
I Summoned as a Hero?! But I’m Actually the Demon King!
After the hero’s welcoming ceremony ended, Leonix was escorted to rest in his room. But not long after, a gentle knock came at the door.
“Excuse me... Has the Hero awakened yet?” came a soft voice.
The door creaked open. A girl with long wavy blonde hair, wearing a white holy dress with light armor accents, stood shyly at the entrance.
“I… I’m Seraphine. The High Priest asked me to… give you a tour around the capital,” she said, nervously fidgeting with her fingers.
Leonix raised an eyebrow, but quickly plastered on his fake smile. “Of course. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Seraphine.”
As they strolled through the main streets of the Elyzaria Kingdom’s capital, Seraphine eagerly explained everything with bright, innocent enthusiasm.
“That over there is the Temple of Light! That’s where we usually pray that the Demon King never returns… ehehe…” she said with a radiant smile.
Leonix suddenly turned toward her. “What did you say?”
Seraphine blinked in confusion. “Oh, yes. The previous Demon King was said to be terrifying—able to wipe out entire battalions with just a single glare! But don’t worry! We believe a Hero like you will protect us if he ever comes back!”
Leonix gave a small, forced chuckle.
How amusing. The one you’re all praying against is standing right next to you, dear saint.
Occasionally, Seraphine would trip over a pebble or nearly turn the wrong way.
“Ah! Sorry! The path’s a bit slippery, huh? Ehe…” she laughed sheepishly.
Leonix sighed inwardly. Is this girl really my guide...?
Yet somehow, her sacred aura and genuine sincerity made Leonix feel… mildly uneasy.
Tch. If I let my guard down, I might actually get purified by this girl.
