Beginning of the Fall

An empty land filled with bodies of the fallen..... Amidst the chaos a man fighting against a luminescent being. The man barely holds on against the creature as the creature starts talking, it's godly voice resonates from all direction,

"your son will be the undoing of this universe, killing him is the greater good why don't you understand" 

The man lifted his sword off the ground barely able to lift it due to the profuse bleeding barely able to stand on his feet, as he calmly responds

"if I have to let my son die to save the universe then let the universe burn for all I can care..." 

They charge at each other closing in the distance.....

Who is this man? what is that being? why is the man's son the undoing of the universe....?
