Chapter 1:

Kensuke

Kensuke

"It will be great there, I promise!"

Jason and Mink were hard sells.

"But why? It's just creepy and disrespectful, in my opinion."

"Mink's right, and Fuji is literally there! We'd be wasting a whole day chasing after ghosts!"

"I knew that's what you were going to say, which is why I prepared... this!"

Leon performed a little twirl on one foot before handing over a business card to Jason.

"Who's Kensuke?"

"Well, Kensuke is a local guide. He's got special privileges due to his family or something and is allowed to enter even the forbidden parts of the forest!"

Jason and Mink exchanged a skeptical glance. Leon knew he had to act now!

"How about we take a look at some of his reviews?" Leon coughed into his fist and pushed his middle finger up the bridge of his nose to adjust glasses he wasn't wearing. In a haughty voice he began reading.

"Kensuke is an amazing guide! He knows everything about this place, from history to local legends."

Leon peeked up from his phone. Jason was covering his face with his hands, while Mink was massaging her right temple.

"Okay, okay, that one was a little weak." Leon scrolled dramatically on his phone, his fingers making exaggerated flicks.

"Aha!"

"We wanted to do something extreme, and Kensuke delivered. The dude knows his stuff. If you ever get the chance, you HAVE to meet this guy.
10/10.
Unforgettable.
Would Kensuke again."

Jason and Mink felt themselves slipping. Coming to Japan had been a long-time dream come true. If there was an unforgettable experience to be had, it would be a waste to stay close-minded about this trip.

One final push. Leon could already taste his victory in their expressions.

"Oh, wow, this one turned out great."

"Dad with kids here. Met Kensuke by chance. Didn't really want to bring my kids to such a place, but he assured us that he knows routes to unforgettable places without anything nasty on the way. After seeing these testimonials, I put my faith in him, and lord bless this man. We will remember this trip for eternity."

In a serious manner, Leon sat down across his two high school acquaintances. He took a deep breath and made sure he had both their attention before placing his imaginary glasses on the table between them.

"Eh? EHHHHH?" he teased them while shrugging with a goofy smile.

The two looked at each other and sighed in unison.

"If this sucks, dinner's on you!"

Kensuke
