Chapter 2:
Doppolia: A New Magical World
After losing my composure, everyone eventually calmed me down. I had to face the fact that I was stuck in this new world. This was my new home.
I pulled myself together and glanced over at Amada, who was padding the wrinkles I made. Amada introduced herself, but I was still a little clueless about the others.
I calmly interrupted Amada and pointed behind me, “By the way, who are these guys, anyways?”
“Oh, yeah. This is Kuron and his two children, Mina and Kylo.” The two children waved towards me as their names were called.
“They’re blacksmiths. I borrowed his workshop to summon you.”
“That explains the scenery,” I muttered to myself. “But, looking at this, it looked like you were trying to summon the demon king yourself. Was this really necessary?”
“Not really. I only needed the circle, but I didn’t want to half-ass it, so I wanted to go all the way. It looks cool, though. Don’t you agree?”
“I see.” I looked at Amada with a disgusting look. She spent more time on the decoration than remembering the right spell. My anger instantly turned into disappointment. I almost don’t want to waste any more energy on her.
My disgust disappeared from my face when Kylo approached me. “Hey, Mr. Takumi, right? Sorry for hitting you so hard. How’s your leg doing?”
Judging from his embarrassed face, I assumed his father wanted him to apologize to me. As much as I wanted to deliver some payback, I am not heartless enough to hit a kid. He probably thought I was bluffing about not being the strongest hero. I can’t blame him if I look like him.
“Oh, I’m fine, now. I feel great!” I gave Kylo a warm thumbs-up.
“Oh, alright!” Kylo playfully slapped my left leg.
Although my leg was broken, the sting from the hard slap brought back the aching pain. Remember all that stuff about hitting kids, I take it all back. “That’s it, brat! Come here!”
I began chasing Kylo around the workshop as Kylo playfully ran, laughing.
His father, Kuron, carefully examined my body, “Mhmm…Kylo did hit him good with that hammer. He doesn’t look like he’s in pain. Even though he isn’t Mr. Satori, he does have his durability.”
While Kylo and I were playing a game of tag, Amada cleaned herself up and headed to Kuron and Mina. “Thank you again, you guys, for letting me use your place.” She quickly bowed her head to show her gratitude. “Sorry, the spell didn’t work out the way I planned. Looks like I wasted your time.”
“Oh, it’s fine, Amada. You didn’t waste our time. It sucks that it didn’t work. But… maybe this is better than you think.”
Mina added, “Yeah, looks like Kylo already likes him.”
They all watched me and Kylo run around for a moment. I could not catch Kylo, so eventually our game of tag ended. We both stopped to catch our breath.
Kuron suggested, “Amada, you should show him around since he is still confused. And get him some new clothes.”
Amada kept her gaze at me for a moment before she took Kuron’s suggestion.
Shortly after, I regained my energy and stood towards the exit with Amada, waving goodbye to Kuron and the kids. They looked happy as we departed, almost like they took a liking to me.
…
As I walked out of the dark workshop, a blinding ray of light welcomed me to the new world.
Amada cheerfully exclaimed, “Welcome to the world of Doppolia! This is the capital, Stalu.”
The capital bloomed with greenery and life. The streets and pathways were busy with civilians and horses pulling wagons in both directions.
Most buildings were made of wood, with stone serving as their foundation. Their roofs were angled, with smoke emitting from their chimneys. Food stands lined up down the main road, each vendor selling a variety of products.
This looked like I was summoned into some RPG video game! All that’s missing is some gear and a guild. Maybe being transported wasn’t a bad idea after all…
My initial thought of Stalu was that it was overtaken by the demon king, and the place would resemble that. However, the town looked untouched and normal. What a relief.
As we strolled down the busy streets of Stalu, a question ran through my head.
“So, Amada, why did you summon me?”
“Oh, well, here’s the thing. I really needed someone strong to help me defeat the demon king, Satavio. No one wanted me on their team, so I tried to form my own team and wanted you, Mr. Satori-”
“It’s Takumi!”
“S-sorry!” Amada embarrassedly rubbed her head. “I wanted to summon you and fight the demon king with you.”
I quickly scouted the area for anything that looked demonic. “Umm, you keep mentioning this demon king or whatever, but where is he? Everything here looks completely normal. It doesn’t look like he’s that much of a threat if everyone is calm.”
“He’s not here. Satavio lives far west, in Relimna. Stalu is located towards the Southeast.”
“That’s good to hear.” I would have hated to be around Satavio, especially without any power to fight back.
I noticed Amada was navigating left and right throughout the town, with a destination in mind. “By the way, where are we heading?”
She turned her head back towards me. “We’re going to go meet up with my partner.”
Those words caught me off guard. “Partner? Hold on, I thought nobody wanted to work with you.”
“Yeah, but nobody wanted to work with her either. We eventually found each other and bonded over that, haha.”
As Amada laughed about encountering their partner, I secretly gazed at Amada with a disgusted look. “That sounds very depressing. I wonder why no one wants her partner?”
After 10 minutes navigating through the crowded streets, we eventually arrived at a large white building with blue accent columns in its foundation. A tall, white staircase greeted us at the entrance.
This building looked important compared to the other structures I've seen. On the angled roof, there was a tall white cross positioned above the entrance. Was it a church? I curiously asked Amada about the mysterious building.
“This is the Stalu Guild.” She replied.
A guild? That was the missing piece. Now, this sounded like an RPG game. The place where the strongest warriors of the world gather to fulfill various kinds of requests. I wonder what kind of superhuman I’m going to meet inside.
“My partner is waiting for me inside.” Amada clarified. “She was trying to recruit people for our team. I hope she found someone.” She slowly turned her head and noticed my excited expression.
I couldn’t hide my smile from her. I could become a strong warrior and choose my class. That is awesome! You know, maybe it wasn’t a bad idea being in this world.
Amada could not be more disturbed as I gazed at the building with anticipation. She stared at me with a face saying, “What are you so happy about?”
I fanboyed for a couple more minutes before composing myself. Afterwards, we decided to enter the guild.
…
As we opened the door, a gust of powerful wind welcomed us. I could feel the presence of strong warriors from it. My adrenaline kicked in as I took my first step. The smell of booze and sweaty grown men inside hit me at the door.
Multiple brawls were initiated, and the bystanders cheered on in excitement.
“Don’t mind the noise, that’s normal,” Amada reassured me.
To the right of the entrance, tables with built-in benches were lined up across the side of the building. Employees were walking around wearing church attire, delivering food and drinks to the tables.
One of the waiters strolled past us and greeted Amada with a cute smile. The women here looked grown with their bodies fully blossomed.
To the left of the entrance was the admission booth. The employees fidgeting behind the counter were dressed like nuns.
“Why are the workers wearing church clothes? And why was a cross on the building? I thought this was a guild.”
“It is a guild. Guilds here are created as a force to defeat the demon king Satavio. They act in the power of God. So, the church funds this guild in order to protect the peace in the country.”
“I see.” We decided to head to the admission table to ask about Amanda’s partner. The beautiful, brown-haired employee welcomed her back.
“Welcome back, Amada. And who is th… what?!” The employee released a scream that stopped everyone in their tracks. The room immediately grew silent, focusing its direction on us.
She began mumbling, “M-Mr. S-Sa…Mr. Satori!?”
“Oh, crap! I forgot about this.” I nervously muttered to myself.
That name jolted the crowd. Their eyes closed in on me. I could feel their stares so deeply that my bones shivered. They immediately looked past my Cutesy Twins merchandise. As their gaze focused on my face, their eyes popped out of their head. The whole building synchronized, yelling, “Mr. Satori!”
I was so immersed in this new chapter in my life, I completely forgot I was summoned in the first place. The waiter earlier didn’t recognize me, so I forgot about my lookalike.
I’m not ready for this. Things may turn bad… real quick.
