Chapter 1:

The forbidden mountain

The woods

The air smelled like pine leaves and the air was nipping my face like a thousand tiny needles, I stood at the foot of the huge mountain in awe, a wave of fear overcame me at the thought of climbing it. I cut open the fence with my pliers and climbed through the small gap, the forbidden mountain was its nickname apparently if you try to go up it you never come back, “what a joke” I thought. I started my walk through the woods I was surrounded by hundreds of trees, bushes and wildlife but for some reason I didn’t feel comfortable I felt like I was being watched by something from a distance, I felt like every step every breath was being examined a wave of true fear shot from my spine to my head, I stopped completely in my tracks and examined the area around me I saw nothing, but even with this reassurance I still felt uneasy. I continued to walk up the mountain the air began to smell like whiskey and the wind completely stopped “how is that possible” I said. The woods grew silent and I felt an overwhelming darkness surrounding me my eyes began to tear up I fell to my knees, the fear was getting the better of me, I became breathless and felt like I was going to be engulfed by darkness that’s when my breath completely stopped I was unable to breath I tried to gasp for air to no avail, tears began streaming down my face and I eventually passed out I woke up in the middle of the woods. I remembered what happened that night and that was it, I began walking back down the mountain and made it to the bottom that’s when fear overcame me and I didn’t know what to do the mountain went on forever this was when I realised why people don’t come back from this mountain.
