Chapter 6:

Scheme (3)

Reborn as the Dragon God in Another World, I Only Wanted to Sleep

In front of a girl, a Knight raised his sword. The sunlight reflecting off the knight's sword made it gleam in the air.
The Girl closed her eyes while biting her lip. The expression shown was that she did not expect a situation like this. She just resigned herself because there was nothing else she could do.
If only there wasn't an arrow stuck in her leg, maybe she could still try to run away.
If the girl had power, she would definitely use it to fight the man in front of her and run.
But, the girl didn't have that kind of power.
Therefore there was only one conclusion.
The girl must perish here.
The sword had slid down. But she didn't feel any wounds. The girl opened her eyes. The first thing she saw in the world was the sword that had fallen to the ground. The next thing in her view was the wielder who had also fallen to the ground.
The Knight stopped moving as if covered in ice. The Knight was dead. The girl could see an arrow stuck in the back of the knight's head, piercing through the iron helm.
Just as she tried to understand what had just happened, the sound of horse hooves exploded in her ears. From the end of the road, dust was flying.
"Front line! Advance!" shouted a man in thick armor, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Several figures in heavy armor burst into the village, large shields raised, ramming into anyone who stood in front of them. The clash of metal rang out loudly, followed by screams of pain.
"Second arrow, release!"
A volley of arrows shot like rain, hitting helms and gaps in enemy armor. Bodies staggered then fell hitting the ground with dull thuds.
An armed man tried to raise his sword, but a spear pierced his chest from the side. The spear was pulled back, blood splattered, and its owner immediately spun around slashing at others.
"Don't give them a gap! Press them to the corner!"
The armored line advanced in unison, their heavy steps pounding the ground. Great swords were raised high, then struck down.
The sound of steel cutting through air.
The sound of flesh tearing.
The sound of last breaths caught in throats.
The girl could only stare, her body rigid. Every movement of the armored men was like a storm. Very fast, precise, and deadly. They didn't step back, not even slightly hesitant.
In an instant, the village road was filled with motionless bodies. The smell of blood suffocated the nose.
One among them, his armor decorated with a dark red cloak, walked toward her. He stopped a few steps in front, observing the wound on the girl's leg.
"Are you from Varnel village? Hold on a little longer, we are knights from Ashvarine sent by the King."
"Knights? Sir knight, please help my younger sister! She is currently in the forest."
***
Nicholas the Protector was currently standing in front of a village girl.
The girl had long brown hair tied in a ponytail and had eyes of the same color.
The girl was Lyra.
"How many people are chasing your younger sister?" asked Nicholas.
"If I'm not mistaken, there are two people chasing her."
Nicholas didn't answer her, but he glanced at the four subordinates behind him, giving a signal in the form of a nod.
The four knights who understood nodded in response before finally heading toward the forest.
***
I really don't know what I should do as a dragon.
Sleep in a cave? Hoard treasure? Kidnap kingdom princesses?
It all sounds troublesome.
And because I was really very hungry, I even felt like my stomach acid was rising, so I finally decided to take a walk first, looking for food.
And that's where the problem started.
Every time I walked, the ground cracked. Trees fell down crushed by my body. Animals all fled in panic.
'It's also hard being this big.'
Rather than me continuing to destroy like this, maybe it would be better if I flew.
So, I immediately spread my eight wings and flew right away.
However, the result was not better than I expected.
Because when I flew, everything within dozens of meters of my location was blown into the air.
Uh, even though I was already trying to be careful.
Ah, well never mind.
I don't have time to think about this.
Just as I came down from the mountain, I immediately heard a scream.
"HELP! PLEASE! Anyone, help!"
I looked down, saw a little girl being chased by two people wearing armor. It seemed they were knights.
Huh, knights chasing a girl?
Was the girl a thief or something?
Or... were they pedophile knights?
Damn, I got goosebumps!
'Hmm, what should I do?'
As a former human, it doesn't feel right seeing fellow humans in danger.
But as a dragon, what's my business with them?
I also can't eat them because my soul and consciousness are still human.
Ah, troublesome.
I thought for a moment.
But, wait, isn't this good?
Yes, I can take advantage of this.
DOOOOM!
I landed.
The ground immediately cracked, creating a small crater.
The three of them who were previously playing chase suddenly stopped, looking up.
They saw me.
Their eyes widened, mouths agape, legs trembling.
"Dr-Dragon..."
"The Black Dragon of Yndroval, Uzlithar!"
Huh? Uzlithar? Could it be that's the name humans have for me?
At that moment, the trembling girl suddenly screamed toward me.
"Help! Great Dragon Lord, help me! I will do anything, but please help my older sister!"
Ah, I see.
If I'm not mistaken, earlier there was also a plume of smoke from the direction of the village below the mountain.
Alright.
I picked up a stone from the ground, then threw it toward one of the knights, and... headshot!
The other knight who saw his colleague's head destroyed immediately fled.
However, I immediately picked up another stone, and threw it toward the fleeing knight.
Booom!
Donut!
Yeah, donut with strawberry jam.
"So, what was your request earlier, little girl?"
