Chapter 26:
Beta Test? We got more than we bargained for in our game’s beta test.
As the sun was setting below the horizon the party finally arrived at their location the Lake void, but for now they could see no lake due to the huge expanse of the void covering the entire lake and a significant portion of the surrounding land. With night soon to fall the party set up camp on the outside of the void perimeter, as they would enter into the void at the first light of the new day. A day where they would get to test out the new gear they bought in Seolford, but as darkness took over the sky the party settled into their usual routine when sleeping outside of city walls. When morning broke and the sun returned after another uneventful night the party made checks on their supply levels and their gear before packing their campsite up and heading into the void, leaving their transport behind upon entering the void the group are immediately greeted by a small group of creatures that look similar to crocodiles, upon seeing the party the crocodile like beasts charge the group. Lexa reacts first binding the beasts in place as the frontline duo draw their swords and begin to slash at the crocodile beasts. Aromi also starts to utilize his enlarged spell selection on the helpless crocodile beasts, with the combined efforts of just those four the beasts are quickly dispatched, and the party is able to be on its way once more. Walking through the Lake Void similar to the Valley Void the level of visibility is about the same as outside the void a stark contrast to the Forest void, the party move cautiously despite the better visibility offered by this void as the ground is fairly boggy which gives those crocodile beasts the firm advantage. Walking longer into the void the party are harassed by more of the crocodile beasts as well as another familiar animal this time in the shape of seagulls; after fighting through the hoards the lake becomes visible with a small island at its approximate center. Upon that island is what looks to be an amalgamation of crocodile and seagull if it were also nearly ten times the size of both animals.
“So, taking from what you all told me about the valley void, I’m guessing that we found the void boss.”
“Yeah, I would say the same thing, however what are we going to do about getting ourselves over there. As I’d rather not have it start flying at us the normal voidgulls were annoying enough.”
“I would say boat, but we don’t have one, and swimming is out of the question because crocodiles both the void ones and that thing itself.”
“And it’s not like we can all float like Lexa can, you wanna go one v one it Lexa?”
“Shut it Arano or I’ll carry you over there to one v one it.”
“Ok. So what are we gonna do? Suieol, Lekly got anyway to make wood and rope?”
“We can give it a go, you gonna make a raft thingy and some paddles for us to use then?”
“That was the idea. Unless either of you two have a better one.”
“Nope.”
“Then give it a go.”
With a plan in place if Suieol and Lekly can turn some of the boggy dirt into wooden logs and some rope the group stand back and watch with bated breath to see if either girl can pull off that transformation. But the groups hopes of getting over to the island to fight the creature on the ground are dashed before the girls have even finished attempting their conversions as the beast starts flying across the lake straight towards the party. Quickly Ilev casts a defensive buff, and the girls change what they are trying to create so they at least have a basic weapon to use to intercept the creature flying towards them. Ami and Arano step to the front swords drawn and ready to intercept, Lexa ready’s a binding spell for when the beast touches the ground again with Lekly and Suieol both preparing to help bring the bird down in a similar way to what Lekly did to the Alpha back in the valley. With the beast closing in everyone made sure their prep was sound and Aromi kicked everything off by using his original light spell to blind the beast as it came above the ground, not slowing down the beast headed straight towards the blades of Ami and Arano with those blades tearing through its wings as it blindly attempted to charge the pair. Still blind and with parts of its wings missing the beast was on a collision course with walls of dirt that the alchemist girls had erected in front of the beast to stun it and knock it to the ground where Lexa unleashed her plant binding spell before unleashing both plant and earth elemental spells in quick succession. The accumulated damage was starting to wear of the beast already as it shook off the blindness and plants binding it and began to charge at the closest party member its jaw agape ready to snap whoever it can grab in two before anyone can do a thing about it, the party scatters running on several directions but once they know they aren’t the target they turn and head back towards the beast ready to attack once again. Ami and Arano are able to cut the tail off the beast and significantly injure the hind legs using this tactic with Lekly and Suieol making the ground in front of the beast even more unstable slowing it’s advance towards Ilev, buying him enough time to cast a magic power up buff onto Lexa who levitated above the battle like an archangel of death as she readied a blade of ice resembling the legendary sword. As she dropped down from the heavens, she cast the wind blade spell ahead of her to open up the skin of the beast for her to drive the ice blade into. And in an instant Lexa delivered her final devastating blow causing the beast to collapse to the ground because of the force of the blow and its rapidly extinguishing life. Lexa floated away from the beast as Ami and Arano closed in to ensure the kill would be confirmed. As night began to fall again the team set up camp as they had only completed one half of their mission, tomorrow they would begin searching for the daughter of the man who bought them here.
