Chapter 21:
Laurels Journey
The next day I stopped by teacher’s office for a little hangout time.
“You can use magic, but barely. You might be top of the school in written exams, but your practical results are dragging you down. I have to deal with all the backlash as your teacher you understand? If I didn’t put in a good word for you, they might have expelled you already.”
“Not bad teach!”
“It’s bad.”
“It’s bad?”
“It is.”
“It is?”
“Yes,” Teacher clarified.
Sorry...
I stepped out of Teacher’s workshop after a lengthy lecture.
Since this was a magic school, it makes sense the school would want to drop a student who’s underperforming in the actual magic area. This might seem like a cause for concern, but…
There was no reason to worry since Teach was putting in a good word for me.
I was probably taking things too easy, but stressing myself out would have the opposite effect, so I’ll leave it up to Teach!
As I was walking around campus, I bumped into a strange girl.
“Ah! Sorry for bumping into you! I wasn’t watching where I was going!”
She had strange green hair and ocean blue eyes.
“It’s fine, I was the one who wasn’t watching.”
“Is that right?”
“It’s right,” she replied.
This person was a genius I could tell just by looking at her.
I was starting to wonder if I had seen her before. Even if it was a girl I had walked past before, I don’t usually remember their faces. It’s pretty rare for me to remember a face, so the few times that I do mean they are important!
“I’m Blake Everlyne. What’s your name?”
“…My name? Names are important, aren’t they? Who am I right now?”
I nodded intently at her philosophical question, one might even say a name is the most crucial aspect of an intelligent creature's identity, “ who are you?”
“…”
??? Does she not have a name?
“Ah!” The girl beamed back at me. “I am Blake Everlyne at the moment.” she said.
Hmm… That was impossible after all Blake Everlyne was me.
“But I’m Blake Everlyne?”
“I’m the real one.” She replied.
“Is that so?”
“It is so.”
Hmm, I can usually tell when someone’s lying, but I don’t detect a hint of deceit from this girl. Well, if she thinks it’s true, then it must be true.
