Chapter 0:
Through The Edge(境界を越えて)
“Ten years ago… Yes, it was ten years ago. On one beautiful day in the city of Amatori, nothing foreshadowed disaster. People were strolling through the streets, heading to work — everything was perfect, almost unbelievably so! But this is not a story about something good.
From different parts of the city, rifts began to appear. From those rifts crawled creatures that would later be called Demons. They resembled humans, but with certain terrifying differences. It was humanity’s first encounter with such monsters — and they began to slaughter everyone. Every single person. They spared no one: not women, not children.
That day, humanity truly learned what it meant to fall. Everyone in the city was massacred. Only a handful were lucky enough to survive… though perhaps some were left alive within the city itself — and that might have been the worst fate of all.
It was on that very day that the Great Wall was created: a dome that sealed off the entire city. Four individuals erected that barrier — four Boundary Breakers, humans who had surpassed the limits of ordinary existence. They were not rare on this planet, though few understood their true power.

But in time, the government discovered that the Great Wall would not last forever. There was no precise estimate of how long it would hold — only the certainty that one day it would collapse, and when it did, the rest of the world would face the same threat.
It was then that the government founded the Demon Extermination Bureau, known as ARC.
At the same time, ARC created an orphanage for special children, starting from the age of fifteen. There, they were subjected to relentless training. Many were orphans who had lost their parents, though sometimes children were taken even from existing families. Out of twenty children, only one would become a Boundary Breaker.
Those who survived the process, after just a month and a half of basic combat training, were immediately sent beneath the dome — assigned to a squad of four. In every squad, there had to be at least one Boundary Breaker over eighteen years old, serving as the Captain.
Each of these Captains had awakened their abilities even before the founding of ARC’s orphanage. Boundary Breakers were individuals who had literally stepped beyond the limits of humanity. Strength, speed, endurance, regeneration, intelligence — every attribute was enhanced, and could grow even further. But above all, they awakened a unique power: the ability to wield Spiritual Energy.
With it, they could accomplish many astonishing feats—
