Prologue

Amidst the sea of ruin and fire, there a women digging through the rock and rubbish with her barehand. A woman with two horn sticking out of her forehead, she looks so desperate and tired yet she bare her teeth and dig her hand deeper and deeper. When she reach the bottom of it there a child of her kin. She cast healing magic and hugging the little girl, so tight while tears flooding her cheeks dropping on the girl bodies.

This woman name is Anzuki, the queen of the oni island, and the girl on her hand name is Akiha, a young oni.

"PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T DIE ON ME YOUNG ONE! GOD PLEASE LET HER LIVE. I CAN'T BEAR TO LOSE ANYMORE!" Anzuki begging desperately that almost rip her lung and watching the skies that turn into scarlet tone.

"uhg... " Akiha grunt, half awake witnessing her queen crying while holding her tight, so tight she awake from the pain of it. "her... majesty...".

Anzuki cries harder now and almost jumped of joy "HEY! YOU ALIVE? HEY! ANSWER ME! *sobbing"

"Yes... im alive, wo... uld you loosen your arm your majesty, i think my.. rib is broken..." Akiha looked at Anzuki, bit of relief and puzzled as why the queen herself holding her.

"Oh god... thank you, thank you." the queen carries akiha into her place among the ruin of her kingdom while still casting healing magic on akiha.

on the 4th day, Akiha awaken from her sleep. the queen sleep in her side, she almost scream in shock as why the queen herself sleep in her side. the queen also awaken but still half asleep.

"your majesty... im not doing anything suspicious! plese your mercy on me." akiha thinking that she make mistake sleeping on the queen room by mistake or something.

"ah, you awake, come here for a bit." Anzuki hold akiha head and checking her wound.

"Good, it healing nicely." the queen smile while akiha is nervous that her hand is sweating.

"Erm... your majesty?" akiha start calling anzuki while she start patting her head.

"Oh yeah. i totally forgot. You hungry right? im going to make something." anzuki then start stretching her back and standing up from the bed.

Akiha remember what happened before she faint, and judging from the queen state, she decides to ask question later. She looked outside. she can only see a pile of rock and fallen pillar that once support the throne. However, this room is unscratched not even a bit. 

"Is this the safe room? does the queen bring me here?" she is wandering around the room, looking at the cool weapon on the wall. "So, the queen like this kind of sword i see."

"That is a royal family sword that passed upon generation my dear." the queen spoke akiha from her behind.

"Ahh... no, im not trying to take it." akiha fluttering somehow make the queen kinda relaxed.

"don't mind that now, here you should eat something to recover." the queen hand akiha a bowl of stew.

Akiha still bit feeling unease upon the sight of the queen herself made her a food, but it will be rude to decline her queen "yes your majesty, thank you very much."

after akiha finished her food, she immediately trying to talk the queen.

"... your majesty, may i ask about what happened in that day?" akiha timidly trying to ask anzuki.

"Ah... yes, i guess you should know." the queen start to look gloomy a bit now.

"That day, an army of high dragon suddenly attacked us. It was one army of the demon lord. you remember the day before i was invited to join them, right? I was refusing to join them, since our kingdom is refused to be in any side neither human nor demon. 

So, i guess that demon lord is furious, that dragon army is one of his subordinates, so i think my guess is right..." the queen looked down. 

"What happened after the attack my queen?" Akiha trying to be careful with her words.

"The island wiped out... i..." Anzuki remember what happened that day, she looks pale and start to tears

"I was pushed by the guard to the safe room before they burned alive... and when the commotion calmed. i go outside only to see everything is burned and destroyed." Anzuki sip the water in her hand.

" I immediately searching for survivor, but there nobody left, just when i almost end it all, i sense your presence. I'm so grateful that you alive now... " anzuki smile a bit.

"Nobody... like now there's only two of us in this island? that is... i dont know anymore. but atleast you safe your majesty."  akiha held her chest and smiles.

"So, what we do now, my queen?" akiha ask.

"im thinking about evacuating to main continent. i have a mansion there, even its abandoned." she is letting out a sigh to calm herself.

 "How about you akiha? what will you do now?". anzuki peeking from side.

"I... im not sure, i usually just follow order." akiha held the empty bowl in her hand, sitting in bed like duckling lost its way.

Anzuki walk to akiha direction, patting her head. she realizes the girl in front of her is one of the scout squadrons. the one that separated from the young age to be elite intel of the island in the continent.

"Girl, what's your name?" the queen gently ask akiha name.

"Scout squadron trainee number 404, akiha ibaraki." she almost give salutation in that introduction.

"I see, that's a good name. Akiha, how about you go with me?" anzuki ask akiha.

"Affirmative." akiha answer with all respect.

"Wait, no, i mean i will adopt you, as my daughter."

"Unde... pardon?"

"You see, this might be the god way to fix my way, i was too cold hearted and ungrateful. Even separate the young from its parent just for my benefit." anzuki stand and walk toward the window.

"i was too prideful, and i forgot how hurt it feels when you lost something important to you... so akiha, will you forgive me?" she grasped her dress arm and not dare to see the little girl behind her.

"Your majesty, it's okay. i don't even know who my parent anyways. i always thought that i was luckiest child to become this part of kingdom, if you not doing any of this. i might never here to exist in the first place." Akiha try to reassure anzuki.

"thank you... i just thinking that people hate me for what i do, so i closed my heart and closing eyes to the people... even those guard that i think hate me the most, they smiled when i got into the safe room... turn out i was a fool, they care so much about me and i just hate them for nothing..." the queen put her arm on her back, standing tall facing the windows with the sight of the ruined kingdom.

akiha was out of words, she can't say anything at this point. she was thinking of anzuki word of adoption, that mean anzuki wants to be her mother. she remembers back in the day, some family on the street hanging out and all happy go round, the child call the mother 'mama', and the mother smiled.

"m... mama?" akiha tries to call anzuki with that, she immediately thinks it was so rude, "a-im sorry i wasn't mean to i..."

akiha stop talking and watch anzuki looking at her with bright face. anzuki suddenly start to cry, but it was a joyful tear.

"ah- her majesty, im sorry, im sorry" akiha stand and approach anzuki worries of her words.

anzuki then hugged akiha "just call me mama is fine, thank you... *sobbing"

atleast now anzuki is not alone, but it just the start of the long journey of akiha will face.
