Chapter 11:
YOUR ONLINE READER KILLER
I turned on my laptop to type in my virtual journal. If I’m in the mood, I casually put the things that happened in my daily life. I typed about the author, yourgreatestdaymare, who has already updated chapter 2, and I'm happy that someone understands my current situation indirectly. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who feels like this. After typing in my journal, I messaged yourgreatestdaymare
bloodyreader: I’ve read chapter 2. I think we feel the same. My family just transferred to my father’s hometown, which I never knew about until now. I couldn't do anything about it because I also wanted to move to a new school. So here I am now. But reading your book helped me calm down. Thank you. I know it’s hard to write a story, but I want you to know that I’m your avid fan. I’m looking forward to reading your stories. ☺
And I sent it. I was surprised to see a reply. The author is online! I got excited and was hoping for a sudden update for chapter 3.
yourgreatestdaymare: Glad you liked it. Chapter 3 will be released tomorrow.
Yes! I've chatted with them many times before but only replied twice so I'm delighted. Plus, there will be chapter 3!

It's been a week since I waited for chapter 3.
Urgh! I’m so pissed. I waited a few days but why? I asked myself why there was no update. Yourgreatestdaymare says it will be ‘tomorrow’ but tomorrow was days ago. What took so long?
I'm at school now and meant to have breakfast, but I skipped it because I'm going to read chapter 3. This morning while I was getting dressed, I just found out that there is chapter 3. Thank goodness, it was a worthy tantrum.
Chapter 3 is about the protagonist, who is in the province and attends a small school. He/She was waiting for an update on the novel she was reading online and was bored with taking so long to update the author.
Wait, it’s just like me again. The protagonist in the novel and I have the same situation!
Wait… isn’t this yourgreatestdaymare’s story all about me? How do they know me and about my situation?
There is still no gender of the protagonist that has been revealed in the story, and there is also no name. But in the prologue, ‘Nothing’ is the name of the protagonist, so I will assume that Nothing is the name of the protagonist.
I am shaken.
If this author’s story really makes me the model as the protagonist in this story, then who is yourgreatestdaymare? They probably knew me. If she knew my every move, wouldn't I know her too, or am I close to her?
Nah, that must be impossible.
“Hey, Hestral. Hello?” I can hear Nicole’s voice.
They had been staring at me, but I was staring at my desk.
"Thinking about something deep?" Lloyd asked and touched his eyeglasses.
“Nothing,” I answered.
They can't help with anything, I’m thinking right now. One more thing, I don’t have to be their friend.
If my theory is correct about yourgreatestdaymare, then someone in this room must be my stalker who is making a story out of my daily life.
Gosh! I get goosebumps just from the thought of it.
But, still, it’s quite impossible.
We’re having our break time before the next subject, so everyone is loud.
I changed the topic and leaned closer to the two.
"Do you read online stories?"
"Yes! Why?" Nicole replied enthusiastically.
“No, I only read real books.” – Lloyd
“Online books are books, too, Lloyd,” Nicole rolled her eyes at Lloyd.
"Nicole, do you have an account at bookfiend.com? I asked.
“Ah! Yes, my little brother made me one. He got me into it! He knows those stuff too.”
“Great. Search and read the novel Curiosity Kills. The author is yourgreatestdaymare.”
“Curiosity Kills? What’s the genre?”
Tch, why can’t she tell the genre by its title?
"Horror, mystery-thriller"
“Oh, not this one! I can't sleep when I read or watch horror.”
She’s making a scaredy-cat face.
"Don't worry, just read until chapter 3. It’s still ongoing, and there's no horror going on there yet."
"Alright, I’ll read it later," she agreed.

Class dismissal, finally.
"Bye!" They waved at me. I just faked a smile.
Starting today, I won’t trust anyone living in this province except me and my parents. I don’t know if I have a stalker or what. I will continue talking with them normally, but I won’t trust anyone in this place. Whether students, teachers, vendors, or neighbors. I may sound paranoid, but this is my way of protecting myself. You would never know when a mishap will strike me.
I got out of the car after Dad picked me up from school. I locked myself in the room. I felt shivers for a second. Here we are again. From the first time I felt this creepy sensation, it never stopped.
*cellphone rings*
I checked my phone and Nicole texted me. I only gave the number to Nicole because I have business with her, which is about the book, Curiosity Kills.
Nicole: Hi Hestralll! I can't search for the novel you mentioned and there is no author with that pen name. Are you sure about the title and the author??
I froze from what I read.
