Chapter 25:
YOUR ONLINE READER KILLER
One month later…
Feels like I haven’t been in the province for over a month. Nothing much has changed.
My classmates and teachers are still nice and easy to get along with. Sometimes, though, I just get too lazy to even go to school.
My sister Vea’s still as loud as ever, only now she’s got a job. Janey’s studying hard and getting used to her new environment. We’ve made a few acquaintances here, but I’m not that close to them. Our houses aren’t exactly next door. Oh, and I finally learned our street’s name: Sumules Street.
I’m still a gamer. Still hanging out with Lorean and Vance. Been waiting for a month for them to spill whatever secret they’re keeping, but nah, they’re not talking. I didn’t push too hard at first ‘cause I didn’t wanna cross into their personal business, but man… my curiosity’s killing me!
The other day, Lorean snapped at me for bringing it up again, and to my shock, she just started crying and she avoided me after that. Vance tried to calm her down and make sure I wasn’t feeling bad about it, but what can I do? Every time I see how they act when I mention it, I just get more curious.
I don’t know. I was never the type to be super pushy or nosy, but now… haayyy.
Lorean’s still mad at me.
I just turned on my phone and read ‘CURIOSITY KILLS’.
Yes, I am now reading this horror story.
Geez!
I never thought I would be like this. I already have my account in bookfiend.com because I can’t share with Vea’s account.
My name on the app is Lewinthegamer.
I’m at chapter 15 now. Thanks, and apparently the writer’s planning more updates. Yeah, right, but at this pace? What a cliffhanger.
I saw he wrote this story last year, and it’s still not finished. What kind of author does that? I could rant all day to make him rush the writing, and I still end up liking it.
What’s wild is that the views only went up because of me. Guess I’m the only one actually sticking with this story. The writer should seriously thank me for still patiently waiting for his turtle-speed updates.
Since I read this, only five chapters have been added. And surprisingly, this novel is like déjà vu. From chapters 11 to 15, the events in the book are almost identical to what is happening to me.
What a pure coincidence.
But what’s been bugging me the most this past month… is how I keep seeing and feeling stuff I can’t explain.
There’s this woman with short hair, sharp eyes, blood running down her neck. She shows up in my dreams every night, and even when I’m at school, sitting in class. Then there’s this other guy with blood all over his head. I see him every time I read Curiosity Kills.
I haven’t told anyone because I already know what they’ll say, I’m simply making things up for a prank that no one would buy.
Sometimes, I refuse to admit it. But no… I know I’m not imagining it. Top of Form

The latest update, chapter 15—feels almost exactly like what’s been happening to me lately.
It states that the protagonist, without mentioning whether female or male, had two friends at the new school in the province he moved to. And then he began to feel paranormal activities. His two friends also began to treat him differently, and they kept a secret from him.
Exactly, just like what’s happening to me.
So I got interested in reading it because the writer gets how I feel right now, like how I ended up pushing away my two new best friends.
I stopped reading when I heard the doorbell.
I’m in the living area now, lying on a sofa.
“Vea! Someone’s at the door!” I shouted at my sister, who is out of my sight.
It's Sunday morning today, so I have a lot of time to waste. Vea and I are left at home to do the household chores. My mother and Janey went grocery shopping.
I heard no answer from her but I heard the sound of the falling water.
Tss, she's taking a bath.
I’m too lazy to get up from the sofa.
"Anybody home! Hello?" It’s a man’s voice.
The man kept ringing the doorbell.
"Just wait!" I shouted and lazily stood up.
What I really hate is when people bug me, especially right when I’m at the best part of what I’m reading.
I opened the door and saw a tanned man in his 50s. He has broad shoulders, less muscular, slightly overweight, and a beer belly. He’s wearing a light blue polo, black slacks, and shiny black shoes.
I frowned at him.
“Good afternoon, Sir. I am police officer Sergio Ohina from the Local National Police, Metro City.”
Oh, the LNP.
He showed me his ID. I read that, and he looks like the man in the picture on the ID he showed.
My forehead furrowed even more.
Metro City?
"What do you need from us?" I asked politely, but still annoyed.
What’s a police officer doing here on a Sunday morning?
Another guy appeared behind him. He has a smaller stature compared to the LNP Metro City guy.
“We have papers here from the owner of this house, Mr. and Mrs. Gern. We are to re-investigate what happened here.” The police explained.
He showed me a long brown envelope.
“Wait, I don’t understand. Investigate what? And who is Gern?” I questioned him. “What do we have to do with them?”
This guy just murmured someone’s last name, and I have no idea who it belongs to.
“We need to re-examine this house in connection with the death of their daughter, Miss Hestral Gern.”
I got confused by what I heard and paused for a moment, tilting my head to the right.
Hes… tral… Gern?
