Chapter 9:

Chapter 10 – The Beginning of the End of My First Part as a Magical Girl

I Reincarnated with My Childhood Friend as Magical Girls

When we went to look for quests, I asked the girls if we could try to take down an A-rank Demon Lord.
Everyone froze at my words, but Mizu quickly spoke up.

“Taiyaki, are you really sure about this? It’s dangerous. You’ve only been a Magical Girl for a few days. Wouldn’t you rather take on something easier?”

Akane added,
“I don’t think it’s a good idea yet. Why don’t we hunt more Potato Dragons instead?”

I paused, thinking about it. Just as I was about to explain my reasons, Mizuki said,

“Well, Taiyaki, if this is what you really want, we won’t stop you. But let’s do it together, as a team.”

Kori, calm but serious, followed up,
“If we’re going to accept this kind of quest, we need to be more than prepared. And we have to choose carefully, or else we might all die to the Demon Lord.”

I reassured them with a smile.
“Don’t worry, girls. We just need to pick a demon that’s weak to our combined attacks. How about a Demon Ogre Lord?”

A thought crossed my mind: What if we combined our elements into a single, powerful strike?

“What if the five of us launch an attack together, using all of our elements? We could make a kind of… Mega Special Attack.”

They all went silent, thinking. Then they nodded in agreement.
Mizuki suggested,
“I know a place—the Desert of Minotaurs. There’s a Demon Ogre Lord there that must be eliminated. It’s an A-rank quest, but I think the five of us can handle it.”

We all agreed.
At the guild, the receptionist looked at us seriously. “Are you certain about accepting this quest?”
We nodded. She handed us a map showing the dungeon’s location and explained it would take about three days to reach it.

So, our preparations began. A week-long journey, counting the way back. We stocked up on supplies. Each of us bought a blanket for sleeping outside. I picked up a few knives for emergencies, while Mizuki and Akane bought ropes. Fifteen minutes later, everything was ready.

We returned home to tell our parents. I told mine I would be gone for at least a week. They simply told me to be careful and never separate from my companions. We hugged, and then I left for the meeting point.

As I walked, I thought to myself: This will be my first time spending so long outside the city… Goddess, if you’re listening —and I know you are, since you’re the one who sent me and Cleer to this world— please, grant me this one wish: don’t let any of us die. We must stay alive to defeat the Demon Queen.

I sighed and looked around. People were smiling, children were playing carefreely in the streets. It was so different from my old world, where crime was everywhere. There were even fools who defended criminals, saying they were just “victims of society.” As if that gave them the right to hurt innocent people… how I hated that mindset.

But this was no longer that world. Here, the true enemies were demons and the Demon Queen. Here, people lived as if they knew divine punishment was real.

Enough. I shouldn’t dwell on my old world. My focus now is defeating the Demon Queen.

Five minutes later, I arrived at the meeting spot, where Mizu, Mizuki, Akane, and Kori were waiting.

Akane crossed her arms. “Alright, this will be a long journey. I don’t want to hear anyone complaining along the way. Understood?”

We all nodded.

“This will be fun,” I said. “When we defeat that Demon Ogre Lord, it’ll be worth it.”

Mizu whispered nervously, “Please, let everything go well…”

“Relax, Mizu,” Mizuki told her gently. “The five of us are together. We’ll protect each other, no matter what. Right, girls?”

“Yeah!” we all answered in unison.

And so, our very first journey beyond the city walls had begun.
