Volume 1 - Prologue

"Take the princess and get out of the island!" Screamed the old man.

Everyone around him got caught in the blast, almost no one survived. They were facing a creature they never saw on the Land of Mankind, also called LoM.

He looks back and sees the half-darkling leaving the island with the young princess.

"Protect her at all costs. I pray that Lorygina guides you and humanity to victory!"

He uses his greatsword as a support to walk towards a woman with cold blue skin. His heart aches seeing her in this state.

She groans and slowly opens her eyes. He felt relieved seeing that she was still alive.

"Am... I dead..." Said the blue-skinned woman.

"No, but...if we don't do anything about that monster, we are doomed."

The woman tried to stand up but a sharp pain pinched her side.

"Urgh!....so, do you still think we are the Apex of LoM..."

"As long as we are still breathing, we will always be!" he said with confidence.

"I wonder how your will is not broken after this last El-ergy attack. I'm slowly losing confidence here…"

"I am the strongest Elemantalist on LoM and also...I have someone I love that I want to pro-"

" Stop..." She puts her index on his lips and looks the other way. Her ears turned slightly purple out of embarrassment.

He helps her stand up and hand over her staff made of ice. Her head moved frantically around, looking for someone in particular.

"Where is the brat?"

"She and her Elemental Knight left the island earlier. It was possible all thanks to you"

The old man looks at the ice wall that came out from the ground.

"I don't remember doing that, I was probably already unconscious when I did this. That brat was all talk after all. Well, not that I expect much from a barbaric woman like her."

Suddenly, the horrific otherworldly creature let out a loud scream . Its aura was overflowing on the entire island. It was suffocating.

"A second wave?!" Shout the old man, covering his ears "If it unleashes another attack like earlier, we won't be able to stop it!"

The creature's ominous aura condenses itself into a single point, giving it a new form. It looks like a female human with dark scales covering some parts of her body.

"Impossible! A human who wields chaos El-ergy!" Shout the blue-skinned woman in shock.

"No! Take a closer look! She must be a half-darkling, but…something is not right?"

The strange woman let out an evil laugh that resonated all across the island.

"You inferior beings are wasting my time!" She could speak the language of mankind. They both put their guards up ready for anything.

"Alright my children! Wake up! You have a world to conquer in my name!"

Twelve giant portals appear behind her, and from them, twelve creatures emerge. Their presence made the meteorological conditions of the island unstable. The old man's hands were shaking, it's the first time in his life he felt hopeless.

"Hey! Hey! If this is a joke, that's not funny!"

"If those things reach the main continent, humanity will be wiped out! We have to do something!"

The scaly woman laughed loudly.

“BWAHAHAHA! MAY CHAOS RULE THE WORLD!"

The twelve beasts move forward, making the island quake with each step.

Both the old man and the blue-skinned woman concentrate their El-ergy, which slowly envelopes them.

"No! I will deal with those things! You go join the princess and help her for the future.” Said the old man.

"I prefer getting stomped by those beasts than becoming the brat's strategist."

Their El-ergy takes over them, making their physical bodies transform into a pure elemental form. The old man becomes a fiery beast with horns, cuffs around his wrists and neck. Everything around him is melting, and fire surges from the depths of the earth. His sword becomes massive with a long chain that is dropping lava. The woman becomes a majestic humanoid creature with an extra pair of arms, body made of ice and freezing everything around her.

They dash towards the twelve creatures, launching their most powerful attacks. The fiery beast launches massive fireballs and the cold woman summons a blizzard, partially freezing the creatures in the front line. The flaming beast took the opportunity to burn the freezing foes with his fiery blade. He ends up face to face with one of the beasts that is about to unleash a powerful attack from its mouth. It’s a direct hit. Fortunately, the woman managed to create a diamond ice prism solid enough to protect him.

Their attacks were strong enough to slow them down but not enough to deal killing blows. The ice lady gets fatally injured, causing her to revert back to her human form. As she draws her last breath, tears came from her eyes

"I hope she will be safe...may Lorygina protect her and her kingdom..."

The old man goes on a rampage, losing control of his power. In this short moment he was able to gravely injure one of the twelve beasts, leaving a huge burnt scar. But ultimately, the twelve beast overpowered him.

The otherworldly woman gets closer to his dying body and lifts him by his head. She throws him towards the sea, followed by his greatsword that pierces his chest.

He falls into the depths of the sea and slowly loses consciousness.

That's how my story ends…He told himself. Everything went dark.

This day marks the beginning of the Chaos Era. The twelve titanic creatures roam across LoM bringing terror to mankind. Destroying cities, towns, villages and even eradicating a whole kingdom.

For over a century now, humanity has managed to survive against those creatures, later known as Fantasm Beast.
