Chapter 2:

The Killer Slime and the Magic of Panic

I Reincarnated As The Ultimate Player...But Without The Manual

Ren and Liria walked along a forest path.Sunlight filtered through the branches, and everything felt… surprisingly peaceful for a world where boars were twice the size of a car.
“Thanks for earlier,” Liria said, staring at the ground. “If you hadn’t shown up, I probably would’ve—”“Someone else would’ve saved you.”“No.” She looked him straight in the eyes. “Not many people would face a boar with… a fish.”
Ren coughed, trying to hide his embarrassment.“It was… advanced strategy. You wouldn’t understand.”
Liria let out a small laugh. In the game, her character was serious, reserved… but here, she looked more alive. He liked that. Maybe a little too much.

The forest grew denser. Ren checked his invisible menu.

> Current Quest: Escort Liria to the village of Aster.

Progress: 72%

It sounded easy… far too easy.
And as if the world were mocking him, a splash echoed nearby. From the mud ahead, a black gelatinous mass emerged.
“A slime?” Ren relaxed his shoulders. “Well, this’ll be a piece of cake.”“That’s not a normal slime…” Liria stepped back, pale. “It’s a Killer Slime!”
The monster lunged at them.Ren switched to Warrior class. This time, his sword transformed into… an iron frying pan!

“…You’ve got to be kidding me,” he muttered.

The slime struck, Ren blocked with the pan, and the clash rang out like someone was cooking.

“Battle plan!” Ren shouted. “I’ll distract it, you fry it—well, magically speaking.”“My magic doesn’t work like that!” Liria shot back, summoning a small magic circle.

A bolt of ice hit the slime, freezing it for a second… before it split into three smaller ones.

“…Oops.”

“‘Oops’ isn’t a strategy!”

The fight turned into chaos.Ren swung the pan, the slimes bounced like rubber balls, and Liria ran in circles throwing fire spells that looked more like carnival fireworks.

Finally, Ren switched to Thief class, drawing two daggers… which turned out to be wooden spoons.

“This system hates me.”

With a sigh, he leapt at the largest slime, shoved the black gel aside with the spoons, and with a shout, split it in two.The rest of the slimes melted into a puddle.

> Enemy defeated. +120 EXP

Ren dropped to his knees, exhausted.Liria approached, smiling between heavy breaths.
“I’ll admit it… you have a unique style.”“Style? We almost died.”“But we didn’t.” She offered her hand to help him up. “That’s what matters.”
Ren looked at her a moment longer than necessary before taking her hand.In his mind, a new message appeared:

> Relationship with Liria: +5 (Curiosity)

Ren swallowed hard.This wasn’t just a game… and Liria wasn’t just a character.
