Chapter 17:
Isekai Abyss: Life in Another World Is As Bad As My Previous World
His brown eyes began to glow, a sign of his latent skills activating. He assumed a combat stance, the sword held with practiced ease. The air crackled with tension.
A figure cloaked in darkness, wearing a half-black mask, materialized on the ground. From thin air, a scythe appeared in its grasp. The figure was a wolf demi-human, its eyes glinting with a feral intensity. At such speed, they rushed together, the rain lashing against their faces as if nature itself sought to impede their path. Raeleanore's heart pounded in his chest, a drumbeat of anticipation and adrenaline. He could feel the power coursing through his veins, the sword in his hand an extension of his will.
The wolf demi-human parried with surprising agility, its scythe moving with a fluid grace that belied its size. The two figures danced around each other, their weapons clashing in a symphony of combat.Back in the fray, Raeleanore and the cloaked figure continued their deadly dance. Raeleanore's sword glowed with an inner fire, and he moved with a speed that belied his years. He feinted left, then spun right, his blade slashing towards the wolf's exposed flank. The wolf, however, was not so easily fooled. It leapt back, its scythe sweeping in a wide arc, forcing Raeleanore to parry and step back.
The battle raged on, each combatant testing the other's skills and endurance. The rain pounded down, soaking them both, but neither seemed to notice. They were locked in a deadly embrace, each strike and parry a testament to their martial prowess. As the rain continued to fall, Raeleanore and the wolf demi-human circled each other, each waiting for the other to make the next move. The air was thick with tension, the promise of violence hanging heavy between them.
The figure, cloaked in darkness, made a swift decision. With a fluid motion, it discarded the scythe, the weapon clattering to the ground. Reaching into its pocket, it retrieved a small vial, the contents shimmering with an otherworldly glow. In a single, fluid motion, it uncorked the vial and drained the potion, the liquid trickling down its chin. The beast, driven by an insatiable hunger, pressed its advantage, its claws slashing through the air. Raeleanore felt a sting across his cheek as a claw caught him, drawing blood. He hissed in pain, his grip on his sword tightening. The battle raged on, each combatant testing the other's limits, the rain a relentless backdrop to their deadly dance.
The purple aura continued to surround Kasumi and Yasu, pulsing with an ethereal light. As the spell reached its climax, Kasumi gently laid Yasu on the ground, her movements filled with a tender care. She leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, her lips lingering for a moment as she whispered a silent prayer.
"O Goddess, Celeste, protect my son from the abyss of suffering. Let him find peace and light," she murmured, her voice filled with a mix of hope and desperation.
Raeleanore, engaged in a fierce battle with the beast, felt a surge of worry for his family. With a roar, he called out, "Kasumi! I need you!"
Kasumi stood, her eyes filled with determination. She turned to Raeleanore, her hands raised as she began to weave a healing spell. The purple aura flowed from her, enveloping Raeleanore, mending his wounds, and enhancing his abilities. The rain seemed to part around them, as if nature itself was responding to her magic.
Raeleanore felt a rush of strength and vitality as the aura washed over him. He grinned at Kasumi, his eyes sparkling with renewed vigor. "Kasumi, you're a lifesaver!"
Kasumi smiled back, her eyes filled with love and pride. "Go all out, darling! Show that beast what you're made of! And maybe... I'll reward you with something special~"
Raeleanore's smirk widened, and he turned back to the beast, his sword held high. "I knew I could count on you, my love. Let's end this!"
The beast, sensing the power shift, snarled and charged, its claws slashing through the air. Raeleanore met the attack head-on, his sword a whirlwind of steel. The clash of blade and claw echoed through the hemisphere, the rain a relentless backdrop to their fierce battle.
Kasumi summoned ten massive fireballs at the beast as her purple eyes glowed with intense focus. Raeleanore, sensing the impending blast, quickly backed away, his eyes wide with anticipation. The massive fireball hurtled through the air, a searing orb of destruction, and struck the beast with a deafening roar. The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the ground, and a cloud of smoke and embers billowed up, obscuring the battlefield.
As the smoke began to clear, Raeleanore's heart sank. The beast emerged from the haze, its form charred but still standing, a feral growl rumbling from its throat. Kasumi gritted her teeth, her expression a mix of frustration and determination.
"Seems like you're a lot tougher than we thought," she muttered, her voice laced with steel. With a swift motion, she leapt into the air, her body shimmering as she activated her air magic. She hovered above the battlefield, her purple eyes blazing with resolve.
"This is as far as you can go," she declared, her voice echoing with power. "You dared to harm my darling and my beloved son. You shall meet your end. You're a threat to our family, and you shall be judged by the Gods themselves!"
Raeleanore looked up, his eyes wide with a mix of awe and disbelief. "Is she...? No way..."
Kasumi raised her hands high, her fingers splayed as she took a deep, steadying breath. She closed her eyes, her lips moving in a silent incantation. The air around her crackled with energy, and a soft, ethereal light began to gather on her palms.
"O goddess, we wished for peace," she intoned, her voice rising and falling in a rhythmic chant. "Delete this beast from our land that we may live in peace and harmony."
She opened her eyes.
"Divine Intervention: Brilliant Radiance!"
With that, a blinding light erupted from her hands, a beam of pure, radiant energy that pierced the night. It struck the beast with unerring accuracy, enveloping it in a cocoon of brilliant light. The beast howled in agony, its form writhing and twisting as the divine power consumed it. Slowly, the light faded, and the beast collapsed to the ground, its form dissolving into ash and smoke.
