Chapter 10:

Rain of The God

The Reaper of Carnage

Rain.

The clouds battled the Sun, protecting the ground from its hellfire.

The grass imitated the ocean as a cool breeze passed through the region.

The natural aroma of earth filled the air as the ground became wet. Worms grew out of it, worshiping the sky for its beauty.

Saga sat up, his face covered in mud as the rain-soaked his body. He shivered from the cold as his hair stood up in retaliation against the breeze. He stood up easily, all the weight on his legs were gone, his body felt much lighter. He looked at his hands. The wound was gone. Confused, he could have sworn that he had died when he fell on the ground. He felt around his entire body, yet there remained no wounds.

The rain grew deafening, the waves of grass turned into a raging sea, the worms prayed for mercy, the Sun struggled to fight back as the clouds covered the sky. I’m… alive? He began walking towards his house, worried more about Myra than his mysterious survival. My life… Is done, there were hundreds of witnesses in the farm. They’ll come for me… The Church will come, how long do I have left?

“I have to at least keep them safe… I’m sorry Myra, it looks like we won’t be able to play together again for a long time.”

His pace quickly turned into a sprint as he headed towards the house, his speed and strength had returned to normal human levels. Where could we hide? Where could we run? How do we get food? Despair crept into Saga’s mind. Is there any hope left? Wait… there was no need to stay here. If we could make it across the border… into the Blasphemers land… I can keep Myra safe. His thoughts rushed back to the farm, where the men he fought constantly called him a Blasphemer. If that land really is a haven for people like me, I should be able to keep Myra safe there… Even if I’m forced to fight in the war, as long as I know that she's safe, I'll be able to keep going.

Determination drove Saga on. There’s no time to waste, the mountains are far away, but I know I'll be able to get there, I know I'll be able to save Myra, I know that we can get through this.

He knew nothing.

The Moon had shown itself in the sky, its light slowly taking over the sky past the clouds as the Sun slowly died. On it sat a black hooded figure on top of a great solid black throne. It reflected the beautiful white light coming off the moon. The figure leaned its head down on his hand, It’s face not visible. On his side, a huge black scythe, nearly double the size of a human. The blade gave off an ominous aura. The figure looked down at Saga as the moon continued to rise. A few words escaped his mouth as he watched.

“Arise, My Son.”
