Chapter 39:
Let Me Go
In the Kingdom of Krowne on the planet of Odinsai, there lies a past of beauty and wonder. In the beginning of this world's creation, the Gods saw that it was good. The Gods saw that it was glorious. Humans and Elves, Goblins and Slimes, Fae and Spiders all lived together in harmony. There were no wars. There was no pain. Only a great desire to love and be loved. A symbiotic union between Man and the Divine, a perfection that lasted for many a gilded age. But there is a saying amongst men, "All good things must come to an end." And surprisingly, the unrest came from the Cloister of New Heaven, a faction of newly born deities. Amongst them, a Hell God who reigned over Darkness and Strife. He was not pleased with the goodness of either world. Heaven nor Odinsai could satisfy his desire for harm and hatred. Abandoned by the Elder Gods, He called himself Cruelty and morphed into an Angel. His true form was so disturbing and decrepit that if a Human were to see Him, their soul would evaporate from the sheer despair of looking upon such majestic grotesqueness. It is a wonder then, that he was able to fool so many in the world of Man. Or more particularly, the world of women. He was fawned over by every woman who caught sight of his overtly magnified radiance. It was only when he laid eyes upon a woman named Morfran, that his heart gave way to Aphrodainis's call of Love. Morfan The Great Crow, they called her. She too had been abandoned by her kind and lived in fitful, yet silent rage at her circumstances. Cruelty fell for Morfran, giving birth to a new emotion, a Demigod child called Bittersweet. Many years past, when Morfran left her mortal coil to be judged by the Gods above, Bittersweet and Cruelty spread their pain the world over. And all was left to ruin. All the Gods, young and old, saw this devastation and reanimated the world. But in hopes of quelling Bittersweet's and Cruelty's unending reign, the Eldest of all Gods created a new world. A blue world. The place we know as Earth. There would be no Magic here. As dangerous as it was in one world, The Greatest God saw fit to let the new humans of this world fight and love, hate and surrender, forget and forgive all on their own. This world, and any divergent branch worlds would be given no direct contact with the Gods unless given special, divine purpose and after Cruelty and Bittersweet had already disrupted the first iteration of Odinsai, New Heaven saw it fit to cut contact with the remade Odinsai as well. Humans from both worlds turned to Sin. And so it was that Darkness was eventually wrestled into an ancient Tome of misery. The Gods' words were law, Man's words then too, must be hidden behind failsafes. Mankind created Spells and Incantations, Factions and Divisions amongst classes, genders and ranks. Social divides caused even more Strife and Cruelty, even more Bittersweet Pain. Enough so that, before the second Odinsai was deemed suitable for destruction, the first King and Queen of Krowne sealed Cruelty inside the first Spellbook, the world's first ever Tome, along with their child's soul, Malice. This was the very Tome our antagonist used to unleash Darkness upon the land. There are stories within that Tome that have never been read until now. You, brave soul who has already walked this long journey to the ends and origins of two worlds with me, are allowed to browse the dark stories within Fiaerna's ancient Tome. Casterline would call these stories Side Quests. I call them Journeys. Some are cruel, others bittersweet. But all are unique and worthy of being seen by your steadfast eyes. So then, journey with me now, to these other worlds within...
