Chapter 17 - Growing Up

“I give up!”

It’s been around half an hour since I tried to learn the skill [Magic Maker] but nothing came to fruition.

Not even a tiny bit of magic came out!

“Is the MP Gauge I had here just a fraud!? It doesn’t deplete at all!”

“So not everyone can learn every skill, huh…” Yumemi mumbled while using her so-called Air Sphere to put bits of meat into her mouth.

She mastered her magic already…

“I guess so. Yumemi, you may be the protagonist here.”

“I told you to stop giving me weird nicknames…”

With every layer of personality she had, I can’t help but think so…

“Kyaun!” I hear a bark

Oh, Kon has woken up… and he’s bigger now.

“Wow, you grew pretty big, Kon!” I picked Kon up. It feels strange because he weight close to nothing before.

“Right, Kon-chan’s now about a little bigger than your head isn’t he, Yuu-kun?”

“Is he?” I proceed to put him on my head. “How is it?”

“Yeah, he is bigger than your head!”

“Kyaun!”

“So monsters do grow according to level, huh? Kinda similar to us [Irregulars] with our memories, don't you think, Yuu-kun?” Yumemi sounds so excited.

Does she like pets that much? Not that I am one to talk though. It’s nice we got something in common.

“In a sense they need time to do so, they sure do.”

Yumemi suddenly turned gloomy.

“... that wolf… must’ve been so high level…”

I bet it does. Judging by its size when we encountered it, and after all those Inari Foxes he ate.

I wanna kill that wolf so bad…!

“Kyaurrr…!!!” Kon reacted with hostility. He understood us after all.

“You too, will have to get bigger and stronger to defeat it!” I pet him on the head.

“Kyaun! Kyaun kyaun!”

Kon was a little bigger than my arm, and he’s now a little bigger than my head with 4 level ups.

I wonder how many levels Kon needed to even be able to face that wolf.

Anyway, we have to deal with that wolf as fast as possible.

“Which path should we go next?”

“It seems like Path A still has some Starwing Bats left.”

“Ah, I see. Kon-chan can shoot them to death with magic, isn’t he?”

I took some steps away from Yumemi by instinct. It seems Kon did so too now that he’s now right beside me.

“Why are you two backing away from me!?”

“Uhh… well, it’s just… Your choice of words is getting more barbaric, you know…”

“Kyaun…” even Kon looked a bit freaked out by Yumemi's comment now she has learnt [Foxlingual] to speak with Kon.

“Don’t look at me like that, you both!”

Note: Sorry for the short chapter, just came up with how to end the small break. Also, I asked my english fluent friend to start Proofreading. As for 26th august, we've updated PR version up to ch 2.
