Chapter 39:

The Precious Person

The Devourer of Destiny

Despite its plain appearance, the slave necklace actually possessed a fragment of the Wandering King's power. It had a light element and could restore the necklace to a pristine, new condition, almost as if it had the ability to control space and time.

This reminded him of the space hole that had brought him to this cold sea.

"Wandering King, was it you who brought me to this place?"

"What do you mean?" He was confused by Mahendra's question.

"I mean... a space hole or a wormhole," Mahendra replied.

He was silent for a moment, then cleared his throat while stroking his chin.

"I don't have that kind of ability."

A big question mark kept popping up in his mind. The Wandering King said it bluntly, even though he had thought for a moment. But Mahendra felt he wasn't lying or anything.

"Forget about that. The most important thing is how to use your ability."

"I've already figured it out a bit."

The Wandering King tilted his head, not believing his words. Then he sighed with his head bowed listlessly, and shook his head.

"Nonsense!"

"Hey, I'm sure of it!"

"Hah... I'm even less convinced now that you've said that."

The Wandering King touched the necklace, making it shine again for a while. A mix of golden and silver light coated the entire object.

"I told you, this can only be used once. The moment you lose control, this god necklace will suppress your power, and if you lose control again, the necklace will be instantly destroyed."

The Wandering King said this seriously, which made Mahendra think twice. He began to recall every word the Wandering King had told him.

If he lost control for the second time while still in the Upper Realm, the gods would confine his soul so he could never be free.

"You want to go to the Memory Pool, don't you? Then listen to my advice," the Wandering King said, patting his shoulder.

Fundamentally, controlling power was not as easy as it seemed. At that moment, everyone witnessed how the Wandering King taught Mahendra to control his Devourer Destiny's power.

"The one most important key is... remember the person most precious to you. It all depends on your feelings."

"I have no family left, I have no home left." As he said that, Mahendra was still haunted by the image of his blood-stained hands, even though they had been thoroughly washed.

"Are you sure?" the Wandering King asked.

And then, Mahendra remembered some people he used to know. Whether in the city of Gurkha, the Magic Academy, or on this ship. Then Mahendra turned to his left, looking at Ningsih who was smiling at him.

After realizing there was still someone left, even if they couldn't completely replace his family, Mahendra felt a little content.

"I'll hand over the reins to you, miss," the Wandering King said to Ningsih.

Soon, everyone in the room left, instead of controlling the direction of the journey according to the Wandering King's instructions.

The only ones left in the tightly closed room were Mahendra and Ningsih.

His fate now depended on a single person: Ningsih.

"Ning... ah, no. My little sister is dead, so there's no point in using that name for you."The man's sad gaze was fixed on the girl next to him.

"Now that you can speak, can you tell me what your name is?" Mahendra asked, forcing a smile.

She shook her head and said, "I don't remember who I really am. It just seems like I was asleep for a long time inside a black crystal."

"A black crystal? I think I've seen it before."

"Mahendra, just call me by that name."

"Ah, but—"

Ningsih shook her head twice with a smile. Seeing his awkwardness, the girl wanted to tease him. She pulled the chain that restrained the god necklace, which caused Mahendra's neck to be pulled closer to her.

Mahendra gulp. He could faintly smell the scent of flowers, alluring and calming his troubled heart. There was only a small distance between them, and for a moment, it was silent.

Mahendra swallowed when he saw her smooth neck and her thin white clothes. Holding back his male desires, he closed his eyes, his body trembling.

"Mahendra, come on, call me by that name. I like that name," Ningsih said.

"But that's my little sister's name. If you use it, doesn't that mean you're my little sister too?" Mahendra mumbled softly.

Ningsih cleared her throat, looking at Mahendra with an unhappy expression. She had only heard a little of what Mahendra said just now, so she thought badly of him.

"I didn't hear you," Ningsih whispered close to his ear.

Instinctively, Mahendra pulled himself back, intending to avoid anything that made his heart beat abnormally.

However, the end of the chain was still tied to Ningsih's middle and index fingers, so Mahendra couldn't escape from her.

Even so, Mahendra really didn't want to be in the same situation again, just like he was in the Princess's room. He pulled himself back even more and accidentally caused himself to lie down on the bed. He lay down and looked at Ningsih, who was still holding the chain, positioned above him.

Her two soft thighs clamped his waist, and their gazes, which were now locked on each other, felt like they couldn't be averted.

Golden eyes met red eyes. The two different hearts seemed to resonate, beating fast and binding a shared feeling.

"Sorry... are you... okay?" In a soft voice like a whisper, Mahendra asked, his eyebrows twitching for a moment.

"Are you talking about the incident when your hand pierced my body? Don't worry, I'm a strong person. You won't be able to... kill me that easily."

"If you have any complaints—"

"Yes, I do! I have a lot!" Ningsih deliberately cut him off, then pressed his broad chest, intentionally getting closer and forcing Mahendra.

"Call me, Ningsih!"

"If I call you by my little sister's name, then I'll think you're my little sister too."

"So what?"

"But I don't want to consider you my little sister," Mahendra said.

Suddenly, the girl fell silent, and in an instant, her face turned red as a tomato. She's blushing.

After crossing the North Sea, the journey on the ship, The Sun, went quite smoothly. It continued until midnight, when they finally arrived at the starting point of the location on the map that the Wandering King had drawn earlier.

The sky was full of thousands of stars, and the night moon appeared with its striking silver color.

"We have passed the left path you mentioned?"

"Yes, we have. Look over there." The Wandering King then pointed the map to Mahendra and gestured toward the front of them.

A hillside exactly the same as the one drawn by the Wandering King was in front of them.

"Remember the way. Don't get lost, even though there's a map I drew."

"I'm not a child who gets lost easily."

They had arrived at the starting point of the journey to the Upper Realm. The Memory Pool was their destination.
