Chapter 31:
Summoned as a Hero?! But I’m Actually the Demon King!
Seraphine's gentle song enveloped the battlefield. Dark Surgery Leon's devastating power began to recede. The pitch-black armor that covered his body cracked, the dragon scales disappeared, and the sharp fangs slowly returned to normal. Leonix began to regain consciousness but his body was too exhausted. Smoke billowed from his body as he began to fall.
Before he could hit the ground, a warm hand caught him. He fell into Shion's lap. "Leon... rest," Shion whispered, her voice filled with relief. "Forget all of it!"
Leonix nodded slowly, his eyes, which were once glowing red, now returned to black. He gave a faint smile before finally passing out. Shion hugged him tightly, burying her face in his chest, letting the warmth of the embrace assure her that it was all over.
Visual: The dark aura disappears from Leonix's body. He falls into Shion's lap, and she hugs him tightly. Seraphine, Layla, and Danny watch the scene with teary eyes, feeling grateful.
Everyone present was silent, witnessing the end of the great chaos. Alex, with slow but steady steps, approached Sylvie, who was sitting, exhausted, with her Celestial Armor faintly glowing. He knelt before the goddess.
"Sylvie," Alex said, bowing his head. "All this time, I never wanted to hurt you. The reason I always avoided you... is because I can no longer return your love."
Sylvie looked at him, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Why... why wasn't I the one you chose?"
Alex lifted his head. He showed her a golden ring on his ring finger, sparkling. "I'm sorry, Sylvie. I'm married. And we... have a child."
Sylvie's tears fell even faster. Not from anger, but from jealousy and disappointment. "Why? Why didn't you ever tell me?!"
"There's a rule, Sylvie," Alex explained, his voice trembling. "A goddess is forbidden to love her follower. If it happens, both people will face the gravest punishment. I had to choose, and I chose to stay away from you, for your safety... and for my own."
Sylvie was silent, then a faint smile formed on her face. A smile full of sadness, but also understanding. "So, that was the reason... Alright, Alex. I forgive you."
She then shifted her gaze, looking at Leonix who was lying in Shion's arms. "Who is that person?" she asked, surprised. "Why is someone as strong as him in this world?"
Back to a New FutureSuddenly, a blinding light enveloped the four of them: Leonix, Shion, Lilyan, and Albert. Even Mahac and Sylvie who were near them began to glow.
"The time has come," Albert said. "This past will soon end. We will return to the future."
The light grew brighter, swallowing them all. In an instant, they disappeared, as if they had never been in that past. All the events that had occurred were considered to have never happened.
Visual: A golden light envelops all the characters. The entire world around them begins to blur, then disappears completely.
Morning in a New WorldMorning in a familiar room. Shion woke up with a headache. She sat up, realizing that she was not wearing her battle armor. She was only wearing a simple nightgown. She looked around, and her eyes widened when she saw Leonix sleeping soundly next to her, without his armor or signature coat.
"KYAAA!" Shion screamed, reflexively slapping Leonix's face.
The sound of the slap and the scream startled everyone in the house. Downstairs, Seraphine, Layla, Danny, and Lilyan were confused. The two of them finally came down, Shion's face flushed and Leonix's face with a red handprint.
Layla, seeing them, immediately laughed. "Well, well! Starting the morning off romantically, are we?" she teased.
Shion glared at Layla, then tried to change the subject. "Why are you all here? And... what happened?"
"What do you mean?" Danny asked. "We agreed that after the gladiator fight, we would rest. We even managed to rank up our party to number 3!"
Shion was shocked. In the future she knew, they had never reached a rank that high. The world had changed.
Leonix finally spoke, breaking the silence. "Shion, there's something I want to tell you," he said, his face serious. "Thank you... thank you for helping me all this time. I'm sorry if I went too far."
Shion looked at him, she finally understood that the Leonix in front of her was a new Leonix. She nodded. "Yes, of course. But... don't do that again. I don't like it!"
At the same time, Seraphine received a new mission letter. "Everyone!" she exclaimed, reading the letter. "We have a new mission! To escort an Elf noble to a forest south of Elyzaria!"
They all cheered, ready for a new adventure, in a future that had been corrected.
