Chapter 8:

Revenge

The Self Proclaimed "Famous" High School Detective & Her Assistant, Get's "Isekai"

"Take this!" Haruno yelled, striking a Goblin in the chest, sending it flying backwards toward the charging group of Goblins. A few seconds later, the Goblin exploded, sending sharp fragments of bones and organs into the air, striking the other Goblins. "Crap, that's not correct either," she stated.

"HARUNO! YOU NEED TO STOP KILLING THEM LIKE THAT, OTHERWISE WE CAN'T COLLECT THE RIGHT EARS AS PROOF OF SUBJECTIONS," Emila yelled, slicing a hoboglobin in half.

"I'M TRYING!!!" Haruno yelled, punching another globin with it, exploding again, "CRAP!!! THIS ISN'T AS SIMPLE AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!! ALSO THIS DOESN'T FEEL LIKE A SIMPLE SUBJUGATION REQUEST EITHER!!!" she commented.

Haruno & Emila had accepted a guild request for the Globin Subjugation request that was attacking the merchants and civilians near the capital road. It was reported that only ten small goblins were seen running around, but the pile of corpses exceeded that amount by dozens.

*THUMP* THUMP* THUMP*, The ground shook heavily as a four-meter goblin appeared in front of them, along with five two-meter goblins dressed in metal armor.

Goblin Knight, Lvl: 43 / B-Rank Monster
Goblin Knights are the evolved form of a HoboGoblin

Goblin Knights serve as protectors of Goblin Lords or Goblin Kings.

Goblin Knights are extremely skilled in swordsmanship or close combat. Goblin Knights attack in a strategic formation, surrounding their prey and overwhelming them with their large numbers.

"Goblin Lord& Goblin Knights, huh?" Haruno stated, cracking her knuckles, and began to dash forward.

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" Emila yelled, pulling Haruno back by her shirt, "Where are you going?" she asked.

"To kill the Lord & Knights?" Haruno answered, confused by her question.

"You mean to obliterate them into pieces??!?!" Emila yelled, "The Lord and Knights all contain precious materials, and if you fight them, you will blow them up," she stated,  "Until you can kill them without making them explode, you are banned from fighting precious, rare monsters!  Practice with them," as she pointed at the horde of goblins, Goblin mage & Hobgoblin..

"NO FAIR!!" Haruno yelled, striking a goblin in the face, as it leaped into the air to attack. The goblin flew into the air before exploding, raining down purple blood & organs, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!?" she yelled.

*Title: Goblin Slayer Obtained*

After two hours had passed, the two sat on the ground, exhausted from the non-stop fighting and dismantling of the Goblin corpses. Emila has dismantled the Goblin Lord and Knights, while Haruno was tasked with collecting the right ear of the goblins and their mana crystals.

"What was the count for ears?" Emila asked while storing the materials in her inventory.

"Three hundred and thirty-seven ears from regular Goblins, eighty-six from Hobo Goblins, and thirty-two from the Goblin Mage." Haruno looked at her item box, "The amount of Goblins probably exceeded that since I exploded roughly a hundred at least," acknowledging that she had ruined too many corpses.

"What should we do about this pile of corpses?" Emila asked, "If we leave here, wouldn't it attract monsters?" she inquired.

"According to the Adventurer's Hand Guide for goblins' corpses, we just need to burn them," Haruno answered back, recalling the information from her mind palace.

"I see," Emila answered, as they began to throw the corpses into the large hole in the ground made by the Goblin Lord's attack.

Emila took out a large flask of lantern oil and emptied it before lighting it with a small fire stone.

"I wonder how long this will take." Emila watched the corpses burn slowly, "I want to go home and take a shower or a bath," she added, feeling icky from the dirt and blood.

"Why don't you use that cleansing skill?" Haruno suggested.

After clearing the Goddess Trial: Solve the Locked Room Mystery, Haruno & Emila were each given a new skill. Haruno received poison resistance, while Emila received a life skill called Bubble Wash, which can be used to clean your body and clothes of dirt, blood, and grime.

"I forgot about that," Emila stated. Bubble Wash, with bubbly foam appearing, enveloping her entire body, before it started to pop and burst. "That feels so much better!" she exclaimed.

"WHAT ABOUT ME?" Haruno yelled as she remained in blood-soaked clothes.

"Hmmmm..... I don't know...you seem to enjoy being dirty," Emila laughed.

Haruno began to charge toward Emila, intending to tackle her down onto the ground with the blood-soaked clothes. Emila quickly stepped aside with Haruno landing on the dirt, and then began to be enveloped in a bubbly foam.

"That is so much better!!" Haruno yelled, while she stood up still inside the bubbly foam, but could feel her body getting less sticky, "Why is it taking so long, by the way?" she questioned.

"Maybe it's because you are that filthy?" Emila answered, noticing the white foam was turning a deep purple before popping away.

"ALRIGHTY, let's go home now!!!" Haruno yelled, with a feeling of cleansing.

"What about the fire here?" Emila asked, pointing at the mountain of corpses that were still burning.

"Oh yeah..." Haruno stopped and turned back around.

After an hour, the goblins' corpses were fully reduced to ashes, and the two were ready to return home. As they walked by the entrance gate, the cathedral bells began to ring, signaling that it was 3 PM.

"Hey, let's go to the church before we go to the Adventurer Guild?" Haruno suggested, "I have a debt to pay." She cracked her knuckles.

"Okay...." Emila answered, following Haruno toward the Cathedral.

The two entered the large white Cathedral and placed four small silver coins in the offering box before entering the center area, where a large statue of the Goddess stood tall.

In the main cathedral area stood a giant statue of the Goddess Mersia, holding a divine lance in her right hand, as it aimed forward, while holding a holy book of scripture in her left hand tucked closely towards her chest for protection.

"Who the hell is that?" Haruno muttered softly, staring at the statue, and noticed the overly large chest area.

"This is the Goddess Merssia," a sister answered, "This statue was hand-carved by a lost over four hundred years ago and has stood here since then".

"Where are those lost in their brain, too?" Haruno telepathically commented with Emila, giving a small chuckle.

The two walked over to the front wooden pews, sitting down together, and closed their eyes.

A chirping noise rang, followed by a window appearing in front of them:

"Are you sure you want to use the Skill: OracleYes or No "

"Yes," the two confirmed, with a large bright white light enveloping them.

As the light began to dim, they opened their eyes to see that the once messy pink room was now properly clean with folded clothes placed on the coffee table waiting to be put away. The pink bed was properly made, and the mangas were placed properly into the bookshelf.

"Quit looking around my room!" a voice yelled from a floating, pink egg pod chair.

Haruno and Emila turned around and saw that the little Goddess was typing away on a small pink keyboard with dozens of transparent windows in front of her.

"Holy crap..." Haruno muttered in amazement as the screen flashed around with text being typed out immediately.

"Are you surprised?" Merisa inquired, with her typing speed increasing.

"I'm surprised you actually do work," Haruno commented, with Merissa swinging around and striking her in the stomach with her right foot. Haruno quickly fell to the ground, holding her stomach in pain, with Emila smirking.

"What are you doing right now?" Emila inquired.

"I'm currently reviewing information from the other worlds that I am also managing," Merissa answered, "It honestly just involves identifying which world needs a bit more polish to move them towards the ideal results," she added, before closing out the screens. "How can I help both of you with today?" she asked.

"What I want to know is why you alter my chest size!?!?" Haruno yelled, quickly standing up and spinning the floating chair around like a top.

"STOP IT!!!! I'M GOING TO BE SICK!!!" Merissa screamed before being stopped by Emila. Merissa quickly jumped off the chair and wobbled over to a pink waste basket before throwing up.....*BLREGHHH*.

After a brief moment of cleanup, they reconvened at the coffee table, with Emila putting the clothes into the pink dresser.

"I'm surprised this room is so clean," Haruno stated, "Did that guy finally show up to clean your room?"

"*GHEKU*" Merrisa made a small noise before looking away, surprised by the fact that Haruno remembered that conversation. "I-I have n-no i-dea who you are t-talking about." embarrassed to show that someone had to help her clean her room.

"Sure you don't," Haruno teased Merissa, poking her soft pink cheeks.

"Isn't it about time you explained why you altered Haruno's body?" Emila inquired, placing snacks from the cupboard and bottles of soda from the fridge onto the coffee table.

"Well.....I don't like my reincarnated to have a big chest, so I altered it a bit," Merissa answered quietly, touching her small chest area. "I'm sorry, Haruno," she apologized wholeheartedly.

"GOOD GIRL!" Emila stated, patting Merissa on the head, "I agree, big breasts should disappear!" she added.

"W-wait, what?" Haruno questioned, "How is that fair?"

"Don't talk to me about fairness, HA-RU-NO?" Emila stated in an eerie tone of voice, giving a sideways smile.

Haruno froze, giving up on rebutting the modification to her body.

"Speaking of something, what with my divine equipment being a Deerstalker hat?" Haruno questioned. "It looks so tacky looking..couldn't you have given me something better?" she commented.

"IT'S SO COOL LOOKING," Merisa answered, taking a chip from the pile, "You looked cool wearing it before, so I thought I would make it a divine equipment just for you."

"I WORE IT AS A JOKE ON HALLOWEEN!!!" Haruno yelled, slamming her hands on the table, knocking over the closed bottle of soda as it rolled toward Emila..

"INDOOR VOICES, HARUNO!" Emila eerily ordered.

"Yes, Ma'am!" Haruno replied, as they all sat in an empty silence.

"Speaking of something, what is the difference between lost and us?" Emila asked. "I've heard a mixed story regarding other-world individuals, but accounts don't really match up here."

"Hm....let me clear your understanding on one thing here, you both are not considered lost," Merissa stated, "Lost are people who accidentally slipped through a rift in their world and into another world."

"What does that mean?" Haruno questioned, "Is it really that easy to slip travel across worlds?" as she munched on some chips.

"Each world is protected by a fragile, thin barrier wall that prevents anything or anyone from entering another world," Merisa explained, "From time to time, a rift can open when the barrier weakens by internal influence like a natural disaster or conflicts. Due to this influence, a tiny rift can open in any part of the world, which can allow small objects or even people to cross over."

"Sounds like a typical manga story," Emila commented, remembering dozens of manga tropes similar to that.

"I know what you are assuming, but it's not a simple or even a fun experience for these people who slip through," Merssia stated with a concerned look. "People who cross over through these rifts will never be able to use skills or mana. The ability to use mana or skills is something you are born with, or in your case, granted by a God."

"Wait, what does that mean?" Emila asked, "They can't use any skills even though they crossed over?"

"If you are born in a world without mana or skills, how can you use it?" Merssia asked, "The only reason why both of you can use skills or mana is because I granted you both a Skill Board." She snapped her finger, and their status window appeared in front of them.

"Skill Boards are an interface system that helps interpret your thoughts and help act upon them," Merissa explained, "When you are getting to attack, the skill board will interpret your actions and assist by activating a skill that might help you, like Flash Step."

"So that's why my skills are always activating even when I'm not intending to use them?" Emila understood.

"Lost individuals are not granted this ability because they were not intended to be in this world." Merrisa stated, "Mana is the essence of life in this world, so if you cannot use it, you will struggle trying to survive here. Don't get me wrong here, you can still make a life for yourself here, but it'll be a grueling task."

"What happens to those who cannot adapt to this world?" Haruno asked, "Are they stuck here?"

"It is our job as Gods to make sure they return home, of course!" Merrissa reassured them," As long as they have a desire to return home, we can send them back."

"Huh?" Haruno & Emila wondered.

"For us, Gods, to return someone home, they need to have a desire to return home," Merisa answered. "We cannot forcefully return someone home; otherwise, their souls would end up being destroyed during the return process. The desire to return home can be a simple thought, such as feeding your pet, missing out on a TV show, or even craving a snack that isn't available in this world. It is very rare to find lost individuals who truly have no desire to return to their world, especially when they realize that this world isn't what they expected." recalling how many lost were returned when they found out that there were no cheat skills or harem involved, only hard labor awaits them.

"What about us then?" Emila asked, "Can we return home?" she inquired.

"No, both of your souls were brought to this world," Merrisa stated, "You both do not have a body to return to Earth."

"I figured as much," Emila muttered, "It's not like we have anyone waiting for us to return to, right, Haruno?"

"Pretty much," Haruno answered back with a bit of sadness in her voice, with a moment of awkward silence filling the room.

"If you are done now, can you leave?" Merrissa suggested, "I still have a lot of work left to do," as she pointed at the wooden door with golden handles.

Haruno & Emila stood up and began to walk towards the door, grabbed hold of the golden handle, and were enveloped in a bright light, returning to the Cathedral with only a few minutes passing by.

"LET'S GO TO THE ADVENTURE GUILD NOW!!!" Haruno stretched.

"OKAY!!" Emila answered as they left the Cathedral together.
