Chapter 3:
Brothers In Arms
I told myself, while looking at my scope.
I feel bad for these teens; they don’t know what they got themselves into.
If I were the one who dropped them, would their blood and ashes look down on me as if I planned this for myself? Maybe I do like the chaos and the souls of the dead reminding me of what I truly am.
I saw Isela on the field; she is a smart firecracker, setting traps. Maybe I should form an alliance with her.
Boom, the Claymore exploded.
This was real warfare, not just some simulation.
I chuckled and let the boiling hatred take over me. I was dropping bodies left and right as if my last chance of redemption flew away. It did.
Now I embrace that I am the reaper, and I will reap anyone's ashes to help myself grow. Wrong or right, it will always stay with me.
But the last part of me is gone; now I am a toy soldier, being controlled, or am I in control of myself?
While I was lighting people up, Isela was on a rampage too; all I heard were loud explosives.
She was going to be a scary one, but for right now I am content with myself and my twisted morals.
Hola, me llamo Isela y soy una infractora.
I break rules. I blow things up. I don't need permission.
Me gusta explorar cosas, y mi familia fue quien me inspiró; ellos también formaban parte de la escuela militar.
My family inspired me—they were military academy kids too.
Crecí en Nuevo México, era una zona de guerra.
Everyone was shooting everyone.
Soy Latina. Pelo ebono, cuerpo bonito, mente peligrosa.
I started to explore things at the age of seven. Yeah, that's crazy, if you couldn't tell.
Pendejo, where do you think you're going? You got caught, just like an ant seeking shelter, KABLOOSH! I love blowing stuff. Wait, pause, get your head out of the gutter.
While I crawled to another position, I felt-nasty, the warm dirt pressing up against my body. What was once angelic black hair is now covered in sweat.
I better come out looking sexy, because if not, the person beside me after this is getting a handful of my cussing. Sorry, not sorry.
There is a saying that stands out for me and my family.
Del pasado honor, del presente orgullo.
From past honor to present pride.
“How many people are left in this free-for-all?”
This is getting boring. I see a cave. I pressed up against the wall, throwing one of the few grenades I had left deep in that cave. No one, nothing, is there. Time to wait it out. Luckily the cave didn't crumble down.
Announcement Ladies and Gents, We have reached the two-minute mark; as of this very moment, we will step up this simulation. Don’t worry about what we will do, or will we do it at all?
Ugh, all of these simple warfare tactics are mad and annoying.
I moved from my position with my Kar98k hitting my back as if I was getting gun-whipped.
My back was bruised, my ribs were bruised, and the metal pipe of the gun burnt my neck slightly.
Then I saw a cave, and while I was running my mind, it went to my abyss of a fracture painting slowly pacing itself back together.
The moment I hid behind the tree, it vanished. I saw Claymore's.
You are a smart one, Isela.
This is not an issue for me considering my profession.
I made it to the cave. There was Isela, resting, or so I thought.
Para! ¡Manos arriba!
Stop, hands up.
the barrel of her pistol just stared at me, finger on the trigger with no hesitation in her eyes, she was built for this academy.
“What do you want, Mason?”
“Nothing, your little bomb trap I got past those.”
“What brings you here to this cave?”
My body is bruised from the recoil of the gun, and I am exhausted.
I took off my shirt, my body was rock hard with a nice six-pack, sexy back muscles, and short messy hair that blew as if it were majestic.
Isela's mind wanders; he looks so sexy without his shirt on. Snap out of it, Isela, you're in a war right now, not at a beach.
Can I help you, firecracker?
I got close to her to make sure she was alright, her instinct took over. She threw me on the ground and got on top of me. Uh, Isela, what are you doing on top of me?
“I am so sorry.”
“It doesn't look like it was my instinct”
Usually when someone gets close to me, I just pop them, but you seem like an interesting person, so I took you down for my own safety.
I flipped her over and got on top of her as my eyes looked into hers, she was speechless.
You let your guard down, Isela you need to work on that, you understand. Because if you die, there is no coming back.
Announcement Ladies and Gents, The time is up for those who left; the remaining are welcome to AshGuard. Those who died, please come back next year. Thank you.
