Chapter 91:
Disciple to The Demon King
Terran, already heading towards the main control room, didn't answer any pleas the others might have shouted. The heavy metal doors groaned open under the force of his assault. A cacophony of shrieks and snarls erupted as demon guards, startled by the unexpected intrusion, scrambled to defend their positions.
Terran, with a flash of his signature speed and agility, moved through the chaos, his movements a whirlwind of destruction. He smashed through security panels, disabling alarms and magic turrets. The air crackled with energy as he engaged in close-quarters combat, and the sound of shattering bone and rending flesh filled the corridors.
Inside the control room, the air hung thick with the acrid smell of ozone and fear. Gehanna, a figure of terrifying power, stood before a complex array of monitors, his eyes burning with a holy fire.
Already making their way outside. Reval yelled, Hurry, send up the signal!"
Vin, ever practical, stepped forward. "We need to trust Terran's judgment here. He's the only one who knows the weaknesses of these defenses. And if we're honest, a direct confrontation with the Six Supremacist, even if it's Gehanna, will likely attract more reinforcements. We need that initial chaos to overwhelm them."
Reval was still stubborn, "I will cut every demon in the area. I will not be second fiddle to that silly guy. Who is Gehanna?"
Vin still explaining, "Uriko, Poh will focus on the prisoners, and we can create as much confusion as possible. Reval, we need to establish a rendezvous point for all that we rescue. We'll need to hold out for reinforcements."
Reval, ever the stoic warrior, simply nodded, his gaze fixed on the complex's entrance. "I will make sure we have all the time in the world."
Inside the laboratory. Uriko, remained unconvinced. Questioning the plan continuously, "What about the others?" she asked, her voice strained. "The ones we haven't managed to rescue yet?"
"We'll deal with them later," Poh said firmly. "This is about getting the ones here out now." His gaze flicked to Terran. "Best thing we can do is put our trust in him."
Inside the control room, I stood with broken doors flung down behind me. My breakthrough magic glowed green throughout my body. I saw the leader of this demon base standing, fully powered up and full of anger.
"My responsibility!" I said aloud with clear voice, usually calm and measured. I pointed at the one I presumed to be Gehanna, "I'll be the bait. The distraction. The Six Supremacy has my attention, hopefully they can handle my strength."
Gehanna was bursting with his holy magic, which was crazy coming out of a skeleton demon creature dressed in church robes. His form shimmered with an illuminated light energy as he unleashed a torrent of demonic abilities, unleashing blasts of godly light rays and yellow glowing bolts of light.
The battle was fierce. Terran, fueled by the knowledge of my companions, fought with a desperate fury. I knew that every moment counted, every second I held Gehanna at bay, was another chance for the others to rescue the prisoners. The fight was a dance of death and destruction, a clash of wills and power. The very air seemed to crackle with the tension of their conflict.
I was being my normal obnoxious self, mocking the holy demon with quips. "Holy Skeletor, why you so mad, my dude?" as another zap of light beam flashed by. I was dodging everything with my fancy foot work and enhancement magic. Anything I did not dodge I was using my punch to parry the magic blasts.
That is when Gehanna asked full of fury. "Why!? What in blazes made you come here?"
I chuckled, "Oh no, an angry skeleton! What did you eat that made your stomach so upset?"
Enuma was laughing at such a predicament. That is when he suggested to me, "At least ask him what his end game is for such experiments."
I smirked and was glad to make at least one person laugh at my crude obnoxious humor. So, I deflected a blast by throwing a piece of debris and asked, "I presume Gehanna had big plans. Why are you furthering these experiments. Planning on winning a future war?"
Furious, the demon knew the situation well. "I have no intentions of sharing anything with my enemy."
I retorted, "What? I thought I was your friend. Shame." as I kept up the pace of dodging and eliminating the weaker demons that scurried about. "I thought Raifanto was keeping the peace, I bet he just pretended to be peaceful in order to hide his growing strength."
Gehanna smirked, "Supreme Demon Leader does not know and does not need to know."
I still pressed on with questons, "Hm!? Then Raifanto does need to be leader. Since he is so weak." and quick to snap back Gehanna said, "How dare you moc-" he stopped, catching himself, albeit too late. I had already caught on.
I said aloud, "Clearly the puppet master is Raifanto and his trusted confidant failed him."
That is when Gehanna started doing a demon calling or summoning magic. Enuma alerted me promptly, "Oi boy. This guy is planning on calling many more demons to come. Enough to look like and endless sea of demons."
I was curious, "How do you know the amount of demons?"
Enuma smirked, "Know your enemies, and know your friends best.
That made me laugh, and Gehanna notice that. Suddenly I was caught in a whirlwind of demonic energy and bone-shattering magic, felt the ground tremble beneath him.
Gehanna, a skeletal figure radiating holy light, was unleashing a torrent of demons, each one a horrifying manifestation of pure malice. The air crackled with power, and the very walls of the hidden base seemed to shudder under the onslaught.
Though battered and bruised, I fought back with everything I had, my movements a blur of steel and arcane power. I was a lone bulwark against a rising tide of darkness, a desperate dance with doom.
Then, a blinding flash. Gehanna, a terrifying spectacle of unholy bone and holy magic, unleashed a holy blast that was color of darklight that ripped through the hidden base, creating a gaping hole in the otherwise impenetrable fortress. Dust and debris rained down, obscuring the battlefield. Terran, staggered but still alive, felt the ground beneath him shift.
"Enuma, we need to—" Terran's words were cut short as Enuma, ever the pragmatist, barked a command. "Flee! Now!"
Terran, with a grunt of pain, scrambled to his feet, his vision blurred by the dust. He could hear the frantic whispers and cries of the trapped civilians, the desperate, guttural roars of the demons. The situation was dire. He needed to get them out of there. He turned to his allies.
I shouted, "Uriko, Poh, Vin, Reval! We have to go!"
As they scrambled out of the breach, a roar shattered the silence. A familiar, powerful voice.
"Little Man! I've heard a distress call! To think it was such little man that was so good at running, that I find him standing his ground here."
A figure emerged from the dust cloud, clad in shining imperial armor. It was Sadie, dressed as an Imperial Knight. She was leading the charge of Insei and Imperial forces.
The allied task force, a wave of steel and magic, crashed through the remaining defenses. The demons, overwhelmed by the sudden influx of reinforcements, recoiled. Uriko, Poh, and the others, now safely outside the base, joined the fight. Their efforts converged to create a tide of overwhelming force, pushing the demons back, rescuing the trapped prisoners.
The battle was won, not by Terran's unwavering courage alone, but by the combined strength of the allies, the desperate struggle of the trapped, and the timely arrival of reinforcements. Sadie stood beside him, her expression a mix of relief and concern.
"You did well, Little Man," she said, her voice laced with admiration. The fight had been brutal, but the victory was sweet, a testament to the power of unity and the enduring spirit of those who fought for what was right.
What of Gehanna? Did he get away or such a puppet master live to fight another day?
