Chapter 28:
The Edge of Balance
Yoru jumped down from the higher area he and Josh were sitting on. Harry! Or I guess Harry's body!
“Harry!” yelled Yoru, running to his brother's dead body. “You killed Harry!” Yoru yelled at Thalorian.
“Harry? Wasn’t this man’s name Dead One?” Thalorian inquired.
“Well… yeah his name was Damasque Ellenverd but he was using Harry’s body! And you killed him!” replied Yoru.
“Who’s Harry?” asked the woman beside Thalorian.
“Harry’s my brother,” answered Yoru.
Thalorian approached him, “What is your name?”
“Yoru Faun. The same name I had was the last time we met,” said Yoru.
“Yoru…Faun?” Thalorian murmured under his breath. “I’m going to be blunt, you don’t have a brother.” What the- who does this guy think he is? “I am your father-” Yoru cut him off.
“My father? Who do you think you are, some Star Wars guy! My dad’s dead, he died a few weeks ago,” interrupted Yoru.
“Whoever that was, it wasn't your father. Several years ago you were born and because you were a non-magic thing in the Magic Realm, the gods decided that you were to live a normal life on earth, as Yoru ‘Faun’ instead of Yoru Hibbaku,” explained Thalorian.
“And where’s your proof? You could be any creeps off the streets trying to scam me,” retorted Yoru.
“Kid, can I have a word?” asked Ae’vora, climbing out of Yoru’s backpack.
“Yeah, sure,” replied Yoru, walking to the side. “What do you need?”
“I need to tell you some important things,” started Ae’vora. Not calling me kid, huh, it must really be important then. “My name wasn’t always Ae’vora. I started as Draylum Von Forensberg. I was the crown prince to the kingdom of Varelion. Long ago I nearly died in the destruction of Hemess, the destruction that Thalorian Hibbaku caused. It opened my eyes, I wasn’t the best, I needed to do better. I studied magic so I could help people. But even on my death bed I had never helped a single person. So I found a spell, one that let me live forever. I cast it so I could help people, but I still never did. After the Rupture I was absorbed into the magic realm and with all the magic and mana my body had I transformed into Ae’vora the Gralan.”
“What are you telling me?” asked Yoru.
“Im saying that I was there when you were born, born in the Magic Realm, born to Thalorian and Limiria Hibbaku,” finished Ae’vora.
Yoru stumbled back. Thoughts raced through his head, Ae’vora’s been right about everything so far, why should he be wrong now? No! My family are the Faun’s I am Yoru Faun! But what if he’s right? But what if he’s wrong!
“Yoru, you are Thalorian’s son. Simple as that,” said Ae’vora.
Yoru walked back to Thalorian, and reached out his hand. “I don’t want to be your child, but I can be one of you weirdos,” said Yoru, not yet accepting that Thalorian could be his father.
“Deal,” said Thalorian, shaking his hand. “Where to next?”
Yoru already knew what he was going to do next. “I know there are multiple possessed people. My friend Iris is one of them, we’ll target where they were in their last life. Iris was calling herself Lady Amari Rellien, so I think she was some sort of noble,” said Yoru.
“I’ve encountered two others, Bigteeth and Garret Smith. Bigteeth was a bar fighter so he’ll most likely be in a bar, but Garret was an assassin, I also met two others, Shadow Spawn named Cravel and Crael. They don’t speak English, so we don’t know what their goals are, but they seem to be working with someone,” said Haverian, explaining the situation.
“Garret also said he was working with someone, that might be Cravel and Crael,” commented Limiria.
“When I was driving to St.Albert this thing called an Anti-Magic poet attacked me, while I was looking for posts about Harry I saw that these things have been terrorizing cities all over the world,” said Yoru. They talked for hours about their plan. “Then it’s settled, you three will take care of Garret and Bigteeth, while me and Josh will handle Iris, and the Anti-Magic poets.”
"We leave tomorrow," stated Limiria, standing up.
