Chapter 17:
The Self Proclaimed "Famous" High School Detective & Her Assistant, Get's "Isekai"
"What should I do?" Ana muttered softly while she stared at the invitation letter from the King requesting an audience with Haruno & Emila. "They attracted too much attention lately.", picking up two newspapers dated only a week apart.
The first newspaper headline:
Drug Smuggling Operation Destroyed by Two Unknown Female Adventurers
The second newspaper headline:
Serial Killer Arrested, Identity Discovered by Two Unknown Female Adventurers
"If the King does anything to upset Haruno or Emila, this Kingdom will end up being destroyed by them or Mio." Ana realized, knowing how unpredictable the King can be. "Maybe it's time we step away from here and go somewhere else in the meantime..." she wondered, lifting another letter: Wedding Invitation.
"WHOOOOO!!!!!!" Haruno yelled as she stuck her head outside the window. "WE ARE SO HIGH IN THE AIR!!" while they sat inside a carriage carried by a Blue Dragon.
"Calm down, Haruno," Emila warned, pulling Haruno back inside. "You are going to strain your throat!"
"What do you expect from me? It's been so long since I've been on an airplane!!" Haruno answered, "Wait... that's not what this is called. What was this called again, Mom?" she asked.
"Dragon Courier," Ana answered, while calmly sipping on her tea. "Please calm down, Haruno," she requested.
'Yes, Ma'am, ' Haruno replied, sitting back down on the brown leather cushion.
"I'm happy that both of you wanted to come with me to the Elf Kingdom," Ana said, "I was afraid you two might have refused."
"OF COURSE NOT!!!" Haruno & Emila answered back in unison.
"I've always wanted to see the Elf Kingdom," Emila answered, "I heard it's a wonderful place that sits underneath the World Tree, right?" she asked.
"Yes, that's correct, the Elf Kingdom is located directly at the base of the World Tree, Sephirot, " Ana answered. "It is our duty as Elves to maintain the health of the World Tree as it serves as a bridge for Spirits to cross over into our world," she explained.
"Like the ice spirits that you made summon before?" Haruno asked, "Can we make contracts with Spirits?" She inquired.
"Hm....possibly?" Ana replied after a moment's thought. "Anyone can make a contract with a Spirit, but finding one that is willing to make that contract is the trickiest, especially for a human. Humans don't possess the spiritual connection to see a Spirit in the beginning, but maybe it'll be different for both of you," she assured them.
"YAY!" Haruno gleamed with excitement, followed by the Blue Dragon roaring, signaling that they were about to land.
The Blue Dragon began to descend, slowly hovering over a large brown pavement, allowing the carriage to fully touch the ground. From there, the nearby workers quickly unhooked the ropes from the carriages, and the Blue Dragon proceeded to land in a separate resting area made for dragons. Four uniformed individuals quickly ran onto the platform and proceeded to unlock and open the door, allowing the party to leave the carriage.
"Thank you!" Haruno & Emila thanked the uniform Elves before running towards the Blue Dragon as it had the harness removed from its body. "Thank you for all your hard work!" they thanked the dragon, who stared at the strange humans who showed no signs of fear in their eyes.
"I wouldn't get too close to the dragon-" Ana warned, but Haruno & Emila were licked up by the dragon's long velvety purple tongue and dropped to the ground, covered in drool.
"HAHAHAHA" Haruno & Emila began laughing as if they were little kids visiting the Zoo.
"Mom, can I feed the dragon something?" Haruno asked as Ana walked over with towels.
"What are you planning to feed the dragon?" Ana questioned, knowing that tamed dragons are notorious for being picky when it comes to food.
"THIS!!!" Haruno yelled, pulling out a basketball-sized Water Stone from her item box.
"WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!?!" Ana yelled as the nearby elves stood in shock at the mere size of the rare stone.
"I mined it out of a cave," Haruno answered, smiling and waving it in front of the dragon's nose.
"I wouldn't call it mining, Haruno," Emila stated. "You punched it out of a Golem's chest," she corrected.
"WAIT!!" Ana yelled, trying to stop Haruno, but it was too late.
The Blue Dragon took the Water Stone from Haruno's hand and proceeded to munch on it as if it were a piece of candy, swallowing the rare stone. It then gave Haruno another lick as a thank you for the meal before turning around and entering a stall to rest.
"I think it liked it?" Haruno looked at Ana, who was angrily staring back down at her.
"WE NEED TO HAVE A TALK!" Ana yelled angrily.
The group proceeded to enter a horse-drawn carriage and started to head towards the Kingdom's capital, with Ana beginning her interrogation.
"Explain to me, where did you get that water stone?" Ana interrogated them, with Haruno sitting in a kneeling position on the carriage floor.
"Remember two days ago, you had assigned us a quest to locate the Moon Drop plant to help make a special antidote potion," Emila answered, "The plant only grows in a dark, humid environment where no sunlight can reach it, but still needs to bask in the moonlight. After walking around the forest area, we located an opening in the ground that led to an underground cavern."
"Huh?" Ana muttered, "I don't recall any books mentioning that it couldn't grow in sunlight?" she questioned, as there were no reports of it ever having an issue growing outside in the forest before.
"There was a book in your study room with a picture of a gold leaf on the cover called Herbalogical di Erlve," Harunono answered.
"A book with a gold leaf........." Ana muttered, WAIT! YOU CAN READ THAT BOOK!" she exclaimed, "THAT BOOK WAS IN ANCIENT ELVISH! EVEN I COULDN'T READ THAT BOOK. WHERE DID YOU LEARN HOW TO READ ANCIENT ELVISH?!?"
"I just read it?" Haruno answered.
For Haruno, who possesses a photographic memory, she can subconsciously piece together multiple different information from different books to create her own personal dictionary of any language without ever learning it.
"I can't believe it." Ana muttered, already exhausted, "What about this about the Golem?" she asked.
"When we descended into the cavern, we triggered some sort of trap which woke up one of the Golem statues near the wall, Emila answered. "The Golem that was too hard for me to cut down with my sword, so Haruno went all out and punched out the water stone core from its chest."
"Wait....you mention there were Golems statues, not Golems that were made of plain rock, right?" Ana reverified, with Haruno & Emila nodding, "This means they are not naturally born Golems that were given life from mana accumulating in a certain area. In the beginning, was there even a cave in the Forest?" she began to ponder, "You both went to the Forest of Telia, right? That's where the cave was ?" she asked.
"Yes, that's correct," Emila answered, with Haruno nodding back.
"*sighhhh*" Ana sighed loudly, "You both discovered a new Dungeon," she rubbed her eyes in stress. "I can't believe I'm only hearing about this now instead of at the Adventure Guild," she muttered.
Ana began to take out a pen and paper and started documenting everything related to the newly discovered Dungeon, attaching it to a mana bird and sending it off to the Order of Valkyrie. The request was to have the Order secure the area and possibly investigate the Dungeon before anyone else wanders in by accident.
This newly discovered Dungeon would later become an S-ranked dungeon called Golem Master Domain, due to various types of Golem monsters that protected it.
The carriage finally came to a halt, with the carriage door opening, and the party began to step out, with Haruno & Emila taking in the gorgeous view.
In front of them was a large water fountain made of white stone, with shops lined up on the other side selling vegetables, fruits, food, etc.
"Welcome to the Elf Kingdom, Titania," Ana stated, as the two remained excited and eager to explore the different shops.
"There are so many different types of goods and food!" Haruno exclaimed, walking to a nearby fruit stand. "What kinda fruit is this?" she asked the vendor, pointing at a yellow oval-shaped fruit similar to a mango.
"At least someone is having fun exploring, what about you?" Ana asked Emila, who remained standing close by. "Why don't you go with Haruno?" she suggested.
"I'm okay....mo-" Emila attempted to answer before getting interrupted by Haruno.
"You need to try this!!" Haruno exclaimed, handing over a plate of freshly cut fruit. "It's so sweet!"
Emila reached forward and took a small piece of the yellow fruit and ate it, "IT'S REALLY SWEET!" she exclaimed.
"Come on!" Haruno yelled, pulling Emila away from Ana, who remained standing alone in the plaza.
"Why did she come back here?" a voice whispered.
"Didn't she abandon us?" another voice whispered
"She is a disgrace to us, Elves," another voice stated angrily, followed by a sea of gossip and muttering.
"Did I make a mistake returning home?" Ana muttered, staring at the large white fountain. "Maybe we should leave?" She contemplated.
"There you are, Big Sister!" A tall blond Elf yelled, "I was surprised to receive a confirmation response stating you were going to come to my wedding!" as he slowly walked over and hugged Ana.
The tall blonde Elf was wearing a white-button shirt with a brown vest and black breeches with black leather shoes.
It's good to see you too, Lawrence," Ana greeted back, "How long has it been? Four hundred thirty-two years since we last met?" she asked.
"Roughly so?" Lawrence replied, "What made you come back home?" he asked.
"I thought a change of pace would be nice once in a while," Ana answered, "Most importantly, I need to avert the attention of my guests from some wandering eyes." She glanced around to see where Haruno & Emila wandered off to.
"What do you mean by that?" Lawrence asked as two humans brushed past him.
"MOM!!" Haruno yelled, "What are they doing over there?" she asked, pointing at a short line of adventurers & elves, waiting their turn in front of a large black rock.
"MOTHER!?!?" Lawrence exclaimed in happiness, "DID YOU FINALLY HAVE KIDS??!?! Father & Mother will be so excited to meet their grandchildren!"
"OF COURSE NOT!!!" Ana answered, "Come here, Haruno, Emila, and introduce yourself to my little brother, Lawrence."
"My name is Haruno Sayaka," Haruno greeted with a bow.
"My name is Emila Watson," Emila greeted with a bow.
"These two are the guests I mentioned I was bringing over to your wedding, Lawrence," Ana stated. "The whole Mom thing is a quirk, so just go along with it," she explained.
"MOM, COME ON!" Haruno exclaimed, tugging on Ana's right hand with Emila tugging on her right hand, pulling her away from Lawrence.
Haruno & Emila noticed that Ana was feeling a bit uneasy in front of Lawrence, or rather, the guards that followed him. They decided to put on the little show to remove Ana from their conversation.
"I see..." Lawance muttered, "It's ashamed that they aren't blood related, but I guess it doesn't matter, seeing how happy you are." he smiled and began to slowly follow behind them.
Haruno, Emila & Ana approached the now-empty line where an oversized black boulder sat out of place compared to the rest of the plaza. Nearby, there was a wooden staircase that extended up into the top of the black blouder, where a sword handle was lodged.
"What is this for?" Haruno asked, with Emila looking at Ana.
"This is a challenge given to everyone by the First King of Elves, Oberon," Ana began to explain, "It is said, Whoever can release the sword from its resting place has the right to rule the Elves."
So it's another knockoff story of King Aruther," Haruno muttered, "Talk about boring & lame" as she lost complete interest.
"Where did this boulder come from?" Emila asked, "It doesn't look like it from here?"
"Four thousand years ago, a Colossal Lava Golem attempted to uproot the Word Tree," Ana stated, "As it slowly approached the Elf Kingdom, the Golem burned through all the nearby forest by merely walking nearby it. The Elf King, Oberon, along with the rest of the Royal Family, began to attack the Colossal Lava Golem, chipping away at its extremely hard body with various weapons and eventually subduing it after three whole weeks. This black boulder was part of the Golem's core and is the only remaining fragment that still exists, as the other fragments returned to lava shortly. The sword that is currently stuck inside the boulder was the one the First King used to deal the finishing blow to the monster, killing it."
"Does that happen a lot?" Haruno asked, "What was the reason for the attack from the Golem?" she questioned.
"I'm not too sure," Ana answered, "It was a long time since even by Elf standards," she stated. "Did you want to give it a try, Haruno?" she asked.
"Hmmmm...." Haruno pondered, as she was more interested in the reason for the Golem attack.
"Let's give it a try, Haruno!" Emila stated, pulling her out of thought, and proceeded up the wooden staircase.
"Do you think they can pull the sword out?" Lawrence asked.
"Possibly," Ana answered back, with Lawrence looking shocked. "Those two have accomplished amazing feats already, and I don't believe it's going to stop anytime soon."
"OKAY, I'M GOING TO PULL IT!" Emila yelled from the top of the staircase, trying to draw attention to her.
"BE CAREFUL," Ana yelled back, praying they don't fall off with her hand ready to cast a wind spell.
Emila placed her hand on the sword handle, gripping tightly on the sword's leather wrapping, and began to pull with all her strength.*UGHHHHHHH*, Nothing happened, with Haruno taking her turn.
Haruno quickly grabbed onto the sword handle, with Ana holding her breath knowing how unpredictable things tend to get with her, wth nothing happening either.
"DANG IT!!" Haruno yelled, slightly winded with nothing having happened.
"It's fine! You both gave it all you could, so come back down!" Ana yelled, hoping they would come back down from the tall staircase as soon as possible.
Suddenly, a rock struck Ana on her head, sending her to the ground.
"MOTHER!!!!' Haruno & Emila yelled from the top of the staircase.
"GET OUT OF HERE!!" an elf yelled, throwing another rock at Ana, who was on the ground, missing her.
"HOW DARE YOU COME BACK HERE AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" another elf yelled, throwing a large prickly fruit at Ana, striking her back.
Lawrence quickly ordered his guards to stand between Ana & the crowd as he tried to help her up off the ground.
"YOU DON'T BELONG HERE!" a crowd of Elves chanted, slowly approaching Ana.
"I made a mistake coming back here," Ana cried, "Please take my guest away and leave me here, Lawrence!" she pleaded. "I don't want them to get hurt because of me!"
"HEY YOU LITTLE SHITS!!" Haruno yelled at the top of her lungs from the top of the staircase, "HOW DARE YOU HURT MOTHER!! I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!" she declared.
