Chapter 1:
Storybook: The Making of A King
Confused as well, Renji just ignored what the question she asked to him.
Suddenly, the fanciest person inside the place spoke up.
"What meaneth thee to tarry so, on thine own day of birth, O crowned prince Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov?"
Somehow what that person can be understood by Renji and Tsukiko. That person said "What did you do to be so late for your birthday, crown prince Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov?"
The words that they said is almost too fancy for them to understand. Renji looked at Tsukiko. She shrugged.
Renji looked back at the person. He was wearing a fancy clothes making him looked like a wolf. Maybe a hunter. Maybe a king of a country or kingdom? The long hair, the grayish white fur cloak. He's very intimidating.
Renji tried to answer the person but with a question.
"Who art ye? and unto whom speakest thou?"
Renji tried to ask him "Who are you? And who're you talking to?" but he couldn't speak like normal, he spoke in that people's fancy language.
"Wherefore dost thou ask this?! Hast thou forgotten thy father, the king?!" the person asked with more intimidating tone. "Ask not such foolish questions. Thou art behaving most strangely. Sit thee down. Let the feast commence anon."
Renji and Tsukiko also understood what he said this time. He said "Why do you ask this? Has you forgot your father the king? Stop asking foolish question. Sit down. Let the feast begins"
It comfirmed that he's the king. Renji tried to ask again. He wanna ask "Are you talking go me?" but what got out from his mouth was "Art thou speaking to me?"
"Of course, I speak to thee. Who else beareth the name Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov, my son? Cease this foolishness forthwith! Sit thee down now."
The king said "Of course, I'm talking to you. Who else's name is Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov, son? Stop being weird! Sit down now. "
Renji and Tsukiko also somehow understood the language word by word even when they don't know the language!
Renji tried to ask "But my name is not Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov. My name is Shironeko Renji".
What left from his mouth also different that what he wanted to say. What he said is "Nay, my name is not Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov. I am called Shironeko Renji."
Annoyed by what he said, the king couldn't utter any word anymore. He just show direction using his hand to Renji. Renji look at where he directed his hand. It's a table beside the king's table with no one on the table. It also has two seats.
Looking at the situation, Tsukiko tried to say "Let just sit for now" to Renji but what she also said different from what she wanted to say. She said "Let us but sit for now."
Tsukiko also somehow can speak the language just like Renji somehow can speak the language.
Renji tried to ask "Okay. let sit for now" but what he actually said is "Very well. Let us sit for now."
This time they just ignored language. Renji grabbed Tsukiko's right hand using his right hand. She only followed him. They sat down.
The king looked at Renji and suddenly said "What art thou doing? 'Tis not meet for maids to sit beside those of royal station. 'Tis a blasphemy ’gainst us royals, unless thou dost intend to wed this maid.""
The king actually said "What're you doing? Maid cannot sit beside royals. It's a blasphemy for us royals unless you wanted to marry this maid."
Confused, Renji asked who is the maid. " Who? Who bears the title of maid?"
He then looked at the surrounding and he now just realized that Tsukiko was wearing some kind of a maid uniform. Renji monologue in his mind. "How? When? When did her clothes changed?"
Suddenly, two other maids with similar uniform went Tsukiko and dragged her away to stand behind Renji. One of the maid said "My sovereign, pray forgive this maid; she is but a novice in her duties."
The maid asked for forgiveness from the king. She also said that Tsukiko still a novice in her duty. She wore a maid uniform a little bit different from others.
Renji looked at the surrounding again. He realized that all maids are standing beside their employer? Or the maids' owners?
He calmed down since Tsukiko was near to him. The king spoke again.
"I forgive thee, seeing thou art yet new to this sort of service." The king forgave Tsukiko for her ignorant behavior.
The feast went on and finished at midnight. Most of the people (nobles) that attended the feast now had left the venue. Renji was ordered by king to go to his room but once more pissed the king as he asked where is his room located. The king ignored and just ordered the maid that defended Tsukiko earlier to show him his room. The maid also ordered Tsukiko to follow her.
Renji's room is so big. The bed, the mattress, the blanket— everything inside the room is so fancy.
Renji concluded that this place is on another world. Somehow in that world, Renji is a crown prince named Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov meanwhile Tsukiko is a young maid named Misha Dmitrievna. Mikhail's personal maid at that. She's the one that need to attend to Mikhail's needs. The maid earlier is the head maid in the castle. Her name is Anastasia Viktorovna.
"My service is ended. What else dost thou need, my lord?" Anastasia asked Renji if if there's anything that he need.
Renji wanted to asked her some questions but hesitated since all questions that he wanted might raise some weird rumours about Mikhail. He don't know anything about this world except he replaced the original Mikhail Ivanovich Volkov and Tsukiko replaced the original Misha Dmitrievna.
But why is Tsukiko still inside his room? Isn't she considered as a maid?
So Renji asked about it to Anastasia. "What doth Misha within my room? Was she not but a humble maid?"
Renji when he heard what his body said thought isn't it very rude to call her a humble maid.
Anastasia answered him. "She is thy personal maid, my lord, and must remain with thee at all hours, both day and night. When thou dost slumber, she lies beside thee; when thou dost bathe, she attendeth to thy bath and partaketh therein with thee. Fret not, my lord, for we are but humble maids, devoted solely to thy service."
"Hah? Hahhh?! What manner of thing is this?!" Even when he speak his mind freely, he still used that fancy language.
Inside the queen and king's bedroom, the queen was having a talk with her husband the king about the crown prince.
